The two suspects who attacked the police will no doubt be charged with GBH under Section 89 offences under the Police Act 1996, as well as any additional charges prior to the altercation.
Under no circumstances is a police officer allowed to kick & stamp on a suspect’s head, unless it is as a last resort & still has to be considered within the remit of it being ‘reasonable force’. Police officers don't walk around the airport looking to beat up travelers. It's when you do things in airports that attract the attention of the police that gets you into trouble. Without condoning what the police have done and vilifying what the men arrested did, lets just put some common sense to this. Police have to neutralise the threat. It's not a game of tag where you touch someone and they are nullified. Anyone who does not consider the threat they are under coupled with the assault they receive as being something to consider are idiots. It's not a game for gentlemen. Some people don't play by the rules and are still extremely violent whilst in custody given the chance. If we don't support and backup our police and make allowances when they may have overstepped due to the threat posed, we will suffer in the long run. Unfortunately, but it's an absolute fact we cannot employ nursery nurses to protect us from some of the violent and criminal elements there are. The officer that did the kicking by the way, was repeatedly punched around the head by one assailant and then attacked from behind and again repeatedly punched around the head. I don't condone it and I don't condemn it but I do understand it and would have to make allowances for someone who is in one of the most risky and stressful jobs in the world.

The police have a responsibility to safeguard the public just as carers do, even if it’s to their own detriment through injury, that’s what you sign up for.
At NO point is a reasonable response to stamp on another human beings head. If you can’t keep your cool you should not work in a public facing role such as police, paramedic, nurse or Support worker as these situations could easily arise.

Regardless of any mistakes made, the framework we have creates an inherent problem. Societies train and fund police to gain the upper hand in altercations with rule-breakers. Events are more likely to be filmed by bystanders once they have already begun, with the ends of confrontations more commonly shared before their beginnings. Footage of police 'gaining the upper hand' without context consistently outrages the public. Media engagement with these stories is maximised by releasing footage in this order.

The copper is full of adrenaline like any other man would be in this situation. The fault is sending women in a situation like this. Women have no idea what it's like for a man in a fight. It's like life or death. The male coppers have to also protect the women.
In this situation you need someone who is hard and that's exactly what they got. 3 other coppers got battered and he saved them all.
He is a man with testosterone and adrenaline flowing to his body in the middle of a fight. Why are people claiming he should remain professional at all times. He's human. They should never allow women police to go to this type of situation. It put male police at far more risk.

I was a female prison officer/manager for over 25 years and in violent situations we can calm things down etc., but in situations like this I have to agree with you, it doesn’t matter how you’re built as a woman, men will in almost all situations come out on top, these two were out of control, they were indiscriminately throwing punches knocking the women to the floor including their own mother they were so out of control, and I agree that, that officer was the only one who managed to control the situation and used what ever means he had to ensure that man did not get back up.
