Good times growing up there as a kid in Upland used to be mostly lemon groves when we first moved there from our old house in Ontario. I lived on 9th st we use to explore an abandoned Sunkist factory across the railroad tracks. A couple of my hangouts as a kid are closed now James Games, the trout pond up in Mt Baldy, and H-Salt fish and chips. I really miss those old classic iconic places.

I grew up in Ontario/Upland and as a little grommet at 14 I got to hit pipeline 2x.. At that infant stage in my days it was WAY intimidating. About the same time sadly, it got tore down. After that many of us in the area transitioned to either hitting back yard pools or several 1/2 pipes in the area. It was an AMAZING area to grow up in BMX. I had Blyther as my hero and rode w/him several x's. Dominguez, Voelker, Wilkerson and others came around. We had Baldy pipe, Chaffey High school.. SO SO much to do in the day.. Then I got old.. lol. BEST DAMN MEMORIES OF MY LIFE

Thank you for showing us the history of original Upland pipeline skatepark. It’s good to know about it. I’m a skateboarder. I do skateboarding every Wednesday night with local skaters. I’m glad you still like Upland skatepark. Thank you.

Lived on 9th and San Antonio Ave (across from 7-11) in that apartment complex 1979. The Pipeline helped make VAN'S famous. LA County Fair. Buy one pair ($16) and the second pair for a penney... Good memories.

Great video. Thanks for taking the time to produce it. I grew up in coastal NC in the 80’s and made regular trips to low cal as it was called back then. I was fortunate enough to ride both Pipeline and Del-Mar. I still have my old Pipeline membership card. Totally worthless to many, but for me, it’s one of my little treasures.

OMG Sean, so glad you made this video!
The Pipeline - along with Del Mar Skate Ranch - are places I’ve always wanted to visit once, almost like a BMX/Skateboard pilgrimage😅
For me, these iconic spots encompass everything I love about 80s BMX and skateboarding and bring back that joy from my childhood.
Hats off to Salba for bringing it back to life and to you for keeping 80s BMX, the best thing in the world alive!🤙

Grew up off Claremont Blvd just north of Foothill from 86-91. Skated or rode to Pipeline throughout Jr High and High School nearly every weekend. My first legit board (Mark Gator) was built at the counter of the Pro Shop (a few additional lawns mowed for "german bearings") LOL. Thanks for this video. Took me back BIGTIME.

I rode the skate park in 1987. It was bumpy and slippery in the combe pool. Shame they tore it down.

Used to go there in 85-86 to ride my bike at the dirt track all the way in the back. Played the Skate or Die video game in that pro shop.

The city I'm in just opened a skate park about a year or so back, haven't seen anyone on bikes but it is across the street from the hospital and next to a fire station, thanks for the memories.

Never been there when it existed. I remember the day it closed. When the combi pool got re made or OC I knew April Hoffman. Now everyday I work I drive by that spot and was totally clueless about the history.

On a channel dedicated to vintage BMX stuff, I find it odd that this video doesn't even mention the BMX track at Pipeline. You can even see the track's start hill in the photo @5:11. If anybody is interested, the channels "mockmotorsports" or "oquick1" both have video of races at the Pipeline track.

Cool. Sorry my video didn’t cover everything but I didn’t ride the track

@@RadBMXBuilds Re-reading my comment I can see how that could have come across as antagonistic, sorry about that. But yeah, they shut the track down a while before the skatepark itself closed, it might not have even been there when you rode the park. It's still interesting to see what's there all these years later, thanks for posting the video!

I'm in Alabama and rode during the late 80s-early 90's and we had the same situation about 45 minutes away. We had a cement park but it got hammered before I started riding. Me and a buddy rode to it, but the was only one transition left.

Thanks! Right by my workplace and I’ll do a drive-by during lunch. I grew up on the other coast and like many, I had these photos plastered on my ceiling. I used to lay there in the winter on my bed next to my ’84 Quadangle, just dreaming of some day living in California. Of course now my ’84 Quadangle is fully restored and I wouldn’t dare ride it there, lest I scratch the pedal - LOL.

I grew up in Upland. A local skate shop had a contest to design the logo for the skate park around 2001. I submitted and actually won. They used my concept, so the logo you see was drawn originally on a middle school notebook pad, haha. Live in NC now, spend more time worshipping Jesus than skateboarding, but it's a cool thing to have in my history. - Brogan
