If we solve this with math: if Taiki was 5, and he's 20 now, then it happened 15 years ago and Aqua is 17 rn so he's around 2-3 years old when Taiki's parents died and Ai was talking to the father (first ep when she gave him her new address) at least a year or more after the double suiclide, meaning it wasn't Taiki's "father" that cheated, it was his mother.
@@lolosh99 tbh, Akane is too smart for me. I only figured this out by basic knowledge but she probably used the same basic knowledge to get something more, and idk what that is.
@@lolosh99 She probably deduced it's Taiki that's the half brother since she probably has heard of the double suicide incident with how much reading she does. Even if that's not the case, the loophole still exists.
It's not that she 'knows' he's wrong but she noticed that Aqua just easily accepted the first answer given to him because "in his heart he wanted to be free". That's why he didn't notice the loophole i.e another way of looking at the situation.
THE MAN IS FINALLY HERE!!!! Btw, Kira's VA for him...amazing. Also Akane's face like "THERE IS NO WAY THIS DUDE IS REALLY THIS DUMB HE HASN'T NOTICED SUCH A SIMPLE THING?" killed me watching a second time LOL And yes, the loophole is that Aqua is presuming that Himekawa's "dad" cheated his mom with Ai...but he didn't think that it might've been the opposite, that is, Himekawa's MOM cheated on his "dad" with homeboy here (the real dad). Akane caught that IN AN INSTANT.
Loophole Akane perspective... Aqua thinks Uehara (husband) cheated on his wife Airi (Taiki's mom) but neglect the fact Airi could have cheated on her husband with another man. And since Daddy been revealed, we can obviously see that Airi did in fact cheated on Uehara with the blonde hair guy and Uehara isn't Taiki's father.
The way the anime plays up Akane's reaction oversells the "loophole" in a way that's borderline misleading imho. All she's really thinking is "the mom might have cheated tho."
Agreed! I did not read the manga, but it is obviously another possibility that the mom could have had an affair with someone else. Maybe that is why she had to die, too. The main "villian" seems to kill everyone he had an affair with for some unknown reason.
It’s more than that tho. That’s a possibility, but not evidence. The actual loophole is an actual concrete reason why it can’t possibly be the lover suicide guy. All you gotta do is think of the timeline. I think that’s what the visual was trying to show.
@@yellowsnake7300 Akane didn't have that much information though. While we the audience had the ability to check the timeline, the only thing Aqua told Akane was that he found his half-brother whose parents died at some unspecified time years in the past, along with his incorrect assumption about their relationship with Ai.
@@Egavans I’m pretty sure she could take a guess as to who the half brother was, given she saw him go off with Himekawa that nigh. I’d be surprised if she didn’t know about the situation with his parents since she’s been friends with him at the theater troupe for so long. That’s how I interpreted her muttering the “piece of trash man” line, as her putting together what she knows of Himekawa’s dad, and that he instigated a lovers suicide, along with how that information fits with what aqua told her. Basically, I have faith that she could guess who the half brother was given she knows who aqua has been around, and that she knows the one person around their age who parents fit the scenario Aqua described, given that she knows Himekawa well. I’d be surprised if she was unaware of his unique parental circumstances. Given her detective like curiosity and all.
Double suicide could be because the husband of Taiki’s mother found out she cheated on him and that his son is not actually his. Double suicide could be he killed her, regretted it, and ended himself with her.
Akane said it is simple and it really is simple. Aqua is 16 years, This new guys is the real father of Himekawa, Aqua and Ruby, Himekawa is 20 years now, in the bar said it.
Good creative choice imo. Give us the warm fluffy bit right on the heels of Aqua abandoning his revenge quest, when we're still at least entertaining the notion that the villain might actually be dead, before dropping the other shoe at the end of the episode.

Yeah but Akane doesn’t know that, therefore the loophole she mentioned is not that.
