I am impressed. You built a very useful machine with available scrap. It is possible to build industrial machines with scrap truck parts too, gearboxes, propellor shafts, axels, chassis rails etc. Farmers and people living in the outback need not break their backs to dig, shovel, move, harvest, plough etc. Build machines to do the work for you!
I thought that I had already seen some of the best DIY and Hacking YT channels... Took me about 4 minutes into your new 'Fridge compressor to 4 stroke' video to realize that I'd found my new favorite. I have a 6 year old who I spend time with in the workshop, and I will be following along with your videos as I teach her to work with tools. Thank you very much for producing such great DIY videos. Really super job!
Great work and a good video. I like the reinforcement bars you added to take the strain off the bolts. That was a good idea. You’re pretty good with the stick welder too. A suggestion if you make another one is to put a hole in the top cutting blade so you can cut steel rod against the lower blade as well. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺
You should build an adjustable stop on the side for when you need to cut multiple pieces the same size. It'll save you having to measure n mark it for each cut
Nice work. I collect leaf spring for projects. Never seen that quench method in so little oil. Fascinating. Maybe you wish for a foot pedal design after all that cutting. Two free hands... You do great work. The square bar trick too is interesting. No welding spring steel right?
I think that was your clue to start using vegetable oil for hardening. Good job with the rest. *Oh, and thanks TH-cam for the 99 commercials I skipped/muted b/c of your greed.*
No different than the asphalt on our streets. Here in Arizona the highway dept actually spreads motor oil on the worn asphalt to extend its life from the sunlight. Signs on road will say " warning ..freshly oiled" I checked into it and they used old engine oil.

Your torch tip is way dirty. Either that or your not using enough oxygen pressure. 40-60psi should be used to cut that plate.
Buen trabajo mi amigo saludos

Nice build, did you temper the shears after hardening??
not really needed because of the differential quench . not an impact tool.
How many times do you harden the blades using used oil?
