THE TITO PUENTE ESTATE IS STILL MAKING MONEY ON TITO'S "OYE COMO VA" EVERY TIME SANTANA AND SHEILA E USES IT LIVE OR ON A RECORDING AND MOST PEOPLE STILL THINK SANTANA WROTE THAT COMPOSITION.
I think the musicians on solos in order are: John Benitez- Bass, Nicky Marrero- Bongos,Timbales/Timbalitos (solo 1) and Cowbell, Richie Flores- Congas/Tumbadoras (solo1), Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez-Drums (Bateria), Giovanni Hidalgo- Congas/Tumbadoras (solo2) and "El Rey" Tito Puente-Timbales/Timbalitos (solo2). I could be wrong on John benitez and Nicky Marrero but I'm pretty sure about the others
if only, the cameramen had a sense of music...maybe this video would be much better ...always shoot the wrong instrument...at the wrong time...what a waste...
That cowbell pattern, like the instrument itself, is downright powerful, though. When I learned it I had to think of it like ONE and then 3 TWO's, like: | ta - TI - ta | TITO - ta TITO - ta TITO | ta - TI - ta | TITO - ta TITO - ta TITO | ta - TI - ta | TITO - ta TITO - ta TITO | If ya think of the hand percussion patterns (bells, claves, guiro, shakers, etc.) in terms of mathematical relationships, it's pretty fascinating that the foundation of Afro-Latin music is a mathematical system in itself, invented by the Yoruba of Nigeria centuries ago....... that they were such mathematicians is certainly underappreciated. In every piece of Western music that causes a physical response to its rhythms and harmonies you'll find the seeds brought in the transatlantic slavery atrocity...... the ONLY thing they couldn't take from those poor souls, embraced and celebrated by the indigenous of the Caribbean and South America to become THIS music is a gift to humanity.
@@oneworld9071 but this is not Yoruba music bro but Congo therefore Conga=Rumba=clave=Ngoma. 95% of all our ancestors came from Kongo therefore so many Congo drums and rhythms since Congo have 355 different ethnic groups. ex: Mongo and Arsenio spoken in interviews about their Kongo grand parents and more. many countries abolished slavery around 1870's so it's not like it ended hundreds of years ago. Ashe o 1🔥🤛
