I think they were talking about it at one point and then said no on the pretext that the show 'glorifies terrorism'. Which I think is nonsense.

Yes, "Legally Blonde" is just as lovable an adaptation as the film version, with catchy songs and dazzling costumes. I really hope that it gains a revival, or even a musical movie version! 🥰

When we did Secret Garden at my high school, Adam Lambert played the lead (Mandy Patinkin) role, and I just have to say he would be PERFECT in a Broadway revival now. I'd love to see Gypsy revived starring Tonya Pinkins or Joaquina Kalukango as Mama Rose.

I've seen Tonya Pinkins onstage in at least four shows. Never thought of her for Mama Rose but you're right, she'd be great!
I believe The Secret Garden is getting a revival. I’m here for it.
That's the hope...and that's the aim of the production in LA right now, but it's been in show business purgatory for years, so it's one of those 'I'll believe it when I see it" things.

Okay, so I’m going to probably have some unpopular opinions here.
ROCK OF AGES - After 6 years on Broadway, it went off Broadway for a few more. It’s also easily accessible for regional productions.
RENT - Like Les Mis and Phantom, it hasn’t really the public consciousness long enough for it to be missed. After it’s run, it went off Broadway for over a year and had multiple tours and a live TV production since.
NEWSIES - Maybe in like 10-20 years, but there’s a filmed version and many regional productions.
I’d love a revival of Spamalot!

I agree with Rent, Jekyll and Hyde, The Producers and Dreamgirls. I would also LOVE to see a revival of Ragtime, and yet again JCS.
OMG WE NEED ANOTHER SHOT W/ GREAT COMET!! Still so heartbroken how snubbed it was & even how it closed! I’m IN LOVE w/ that production, even if I hadn’t seen it live. But that album really does feel like an experience! 🥹🥺🙌💖❤️

I'm honestly surprised the gave the Scarlet Pimpernel an honorable mention. It's a musical that often floats under the radar of many and deserves a lot of spots on various top 10's that have been done by MrMojo and WatchMojo in regards to musicals. I hope it gets a movie too, it's just so damn good.
I feel like Rocky Horror desperately needs a stage show revival. It’s getting close to 50 years, and it was supposed to have one before covid hit.
Rocky Horror, much like Little Shop, should only ever be Off Broadway.
The Secret Garden revival in Los Angeles just finished its tryout run. The reviews were mixed but hopefully it does make the transfer to Broadway? Awesome to hear that beautiful music being performed live!
I’ve got some Dreamgirls and Rent fatigue already. Long story though. I remember seeing the Legally Blonde MTV proshot but didn’t get the chance to see the show in person. I love the Newsies stage show more so than the movie. And I would love to see Aida on stage too. The music is so beautiful!
“Mame” needs a fresh revamped revival! Too many on this list are too recent to warrant a revival. Glad to see “City of Angels” on this list -‘I’m surprised it’s never even gotten the City Centers Encore treatment.
I was going to see a regional production of Mame. But it was canceled due to the lockdown

Pacific Overtures - overlooked too often, and the original production looks to have been astonishing. I agree with a lot of your choices, especially City of Angels, Secret Garden and Dreamgirls.

As a BIG fan of Tolstoy, The Great Comet was THE MOST EPIC ADAPTATION I'VE SEEN. the cast was AWESOME, the songs SLAPPED. BYE. IT'S AMAZING. HEY BWAY I WANT TO BE HÉLÈNE

1776 was just revived on Broadway last year, and it's touring currrently

I’m from the West Coast too. Before COVID hit, I saw more national tours than regional productions

The Wiz is going on tour later on this year as a precursor to a Bway engagement
The Wiz is supposed to be the next show at the Majestic, post Phantom closure and renovations.

I agree with several of yours - Secret Garden, City of Angels, Tommy, and J&H (if they revert it to the original concept album style not the wannabe R&B nonsense) - but I have to add GROUNDHOG DAY! It was sadly unappreciated its first time on Broadway, and is being revived in the West End in the upcoming season. It’s a brilliant show that unfortunately came out during a stacked season that didn’t give it a chance to be discovered.
"Oliver" is being done at City Center "Encores" in May and tomorrow they're starting their run of Jerry Herman's "Dear World" with it's very tuneful score.
Secret Garden is in LA this month…maybe on its way back to Broadway? 🤔 One of my favorites.
I would also love to see nonmusical plays, improv artists, etc. get a list. There's so many great forms of theatre. 🎭

Secret Garden is aimed for a Broadway bow. It’s running at the Ahmanson Theatre in California.

My #1 vote is for “The Scarlet Pimpernel!” I saw it on Broadway twice and it was spectacular. I don’t know if there is anyone who could pull off the lead better than Douglas Sills; he was perfection in that role.
The Pirates of Penzance!
"The Capeman" and "Sweet Smell of Success" could stand revivals, and perhaps even movie musical adaptations, as they both had short-lived runs in 1998 and 2002, respectively.
My 2 picks for revivals is Newsies (because I have never seen it on Broadway) and Ragtime.
Many of these were recently (or are currently) mounted on the West End. Maybe that inspired these picks or maybe lots of people are thinking similarly, but still interesting
Seussical is definitely one I’d love to see come back considering over the passage of time its reputation has improved from the negative one it received when it first opened on Broadway 23 years ago thanks to being one of those musicals high schools and community theaters perform the most and even gaining a following and fanbase.
Another show I heard is getting revival this year is The Wiz which is about time considering the last revival nearly 40 years ago and I think in the age of racial discrimination against African Americans, we definitely need the musical the most. Plus, The Wiz Live! proved the musical can be updated to modern music and be performed by modern African American singers while staying true to the original lyrics and score and that it’s not a product of the 70s or has to be.
Allegedly, the Wiz is supposed to be heading back to the Majestic, once Phantom leaves and its long needed renovations are complete.

Quite a lot of these are pretty new shows. While I'd like to see them come back at some point, may be too soon for ones that was closed less than 10 years ago
Gotta let some of these shows rest for at least 20 years. No point in bringing them back unless there's a fresh take on it. Any show just to do it for the $ would quickly close in today's environment. Agree with a few of them to bring back after a long hiatus, but also looking forward to things that are brand new, even based on existing source material.
I need them to bring back American Idiot so I could see it 😂 the album was just amazing but I want to see it live & collect my playbill

Damn right "Dreamgirls" is #1! Its been WAY too long since that show has been on Broadway. There's been multiple attempts over the years, but somebody FINALLY needs to make this happen!

The Producers??! Given the subject matter and specific references, I think we’ll have to wait a little longer before we revive that one. However, how could you leave out PACIFIC OVERTURES?? With Sondheim’s passing in 2021 and the influence and incredible recognition of Asian American talent right now, I’d put that on the list. Also: URINETOWN would be a great one, given the past 3 years. It’s dry, dark comedy and has some great numbers.

This is honestly not a great list. Almost all of these shows are considered modern musicals that were around for quite awhile. A lot of them are still touring. Shows need to leave Broadway proper to allow for new shows. We don't need another decade of these shows that did years on Broadway already. They closed for a reason.
I had the misfortune of missing Next to Normal - LOVE the soundtrack and shows I've seen. Great storyline too and much more accurate portrayal of mental illness in my opinion
