- 🌟Hi guys! I know it's very delayed but many people asked for it, so here it is! I explain the general background of the ECFMG Pathways and go over each of them. Hope this clarifies things for those who have questions on them.

The Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU)

Hi, is there a rule for pathway 1 where you have to get the medical license from your home country? (Because I'll also be graduating from a medical school which is not in my home country)
What a great video! I want to ask you, if I am a final year medical student from a recognized medical school by the WFME that already passed USMLE Step 1 and 2ck, could I apply for the ECFMG certification or I must be a graduate/is the final medical diploma required?
Do I need to be ecfmg certified to apply and give usmle step 1?
Hello Doc Sarang! Your videos are so helpful as they are detailed and informative. ❤️ I’m new in preparing for the USMLE. I’m currently making a timeline. How long did you prepare for each steps (Step 1,Step 2,Step 3)?
Roughly 6 months for Step 1 and most likely about 2.5 months for step 2! Not sure yet how long for step 3 since im still preparing for step 2 ck at the moment. Good luck! :)

So for you. They would need to know if emilo is accredited by 2/6 accreditation agency. Then only can you be eligible for step 1/2.

2 out of the 6 agencies in USA. Typically a medical school needs 2 agencies backing the school up.
Ask ur foreign coordinator or Dean of med if they presently have any accreditation outside of Philippines. Not including W.H.O.

Hi Sarang, thank you for sharing this information! I have a question that I have been thinking for a long time and haven't found answer yet. I took my 5-year undergraduate program in preventive medicine (public health) in China till 2021, with a degree of Bachelor of Medicine. My undergraduate school is on the World Directory list, but the list does not clearify what majors are qualified for getting the ECFMG certificate, so I'm not sure if I am able to get the ECFMG certificate because my major is not clinical medicine.

You apply via the pathway once you have all your exams. Of course you can already decide which pathway to choose based on what you qualify for.

I am so thankfull for that video, by the way your explaination is so good , umm i am Egyptian and i planning to apply for a philippine medical schools and after that i want to take the USMLE exam i also take the NMAT and i got a 58 percentile
Can you recommend for me which school in the philippine is good to match my requirements
i have to choice between the following
1- AMA School of medicine
2- bicol christian college of medicine
3- cebu doctors' college of medicine
4- Ateneo de Zamboanga University College of Medicine
I don't understand something, is there a relation between those pathways and the 2024 ECFMG eligibility changes, if I'm from a non ECFMG accredited school, can I take those pathways or something else ?
ECFMG reviews the quality of subjects or practice I took in another country as well as the authenticity of transcript? Is there minimum GPA of “ECFMG” standards? or…As long as the credentials are genuine, I do not have to worry about…?? Pls reply
Hi! I don't think they check the subjects or the GPA on your transcript. I think as long as it is valid, it should be okay.

Yes you can!

Yes, if you don't qualify for Pathway 1. Because if you also qualfy for Pathway 1 then you have to apply via Pathway 1.
Does Pathway two still include plab 2? or has the pathway been changed?
How can I extend my eligibility period for USMLE
Can I take the OET before STEP1, after Step 1/before STEP2, or only after Step 2? Because OET doesn't have an interface with ECGMG, you simply add ECFMG viewing of your passing on OET right?
You can take it any time you want but just remember that it’s only valid for two years since the time you take it! :)
i have 1.5 years gap and i dont know about compensation this :( whats your advice for this? Which residencies can I enter more easily? thanks
What would happen if the med school approved by wfme loses accreditation before a med student get their ECFMG certification?
You'll have to email ecfmg and ask them that question. But if they are not accredited, then I think you won't be able to certify.

Hi, for an older graduate that holds an unsupervised license in a different country prior to January 2018 and after , would you apply for Pathway 1 or Pathway 6?
The date of initial licensure/registration may be prior to January 1, 2018, but the license/registration still must have been valid on or after January 1, 2018.
Sorry if I'm late in asking this, but I'm considering to apply for ecfmg after I've completed my Plab exams (1 and 2). My understanding from this video is that I would apply through pathway 2, correct?
Yes you can apply through Pathway 2 if you'll have Plab 2 by then :)

You must have step 1, step 2 ck, and oet, before applying for certification with any of the pathways!

Yes I am! It was a mix of doable and also difficult questions. Very similar to Uworld and Free120.

When should we take oet?
I'll be applying via Pathways 6 since I don't have a medical license I can use to apply via Pathway 1 and my school isn't listed for Pathway 3.
It's up to you. You just have to make sure you have it by the time you apply for the Pathways.
@@SarangChoiMD what happens if someone applies via Pathway 2? Is it a straight qualification for the GME training match, or one must still do some examination by a Licensed Physician as obtained in Pathway 6?
