Such a great and insightful interview! Lewis was so well prepared for it which, for me, had always been a way to show your respect to the guest. Both were so natural, honest and humble. Talking openly about their insecurities without the fear of been judged or mocked which only those who have endured suffer and pain and go ahead can do. Dean´s attentive and respectful way to listen, how he looks Lewis in the eyes while he is talking , as well as all his body language makes the interlocutor feel special. And both with a great sense of humor. Thank you guys! Definitely an interview that I will be playing more than once.

I love Dean and just finished reading his book "Ultramarathon Man" which got me deeper into running I just been running for almost a year. He inspired me. Lewis you ask the most insightful questions. Your interviews extract the best inspirational and motivational wisdoms from your guests. It's a privilege to be a student of your School of Greatness!
What a humble soul💗 He nailed it about purpose in life. I love how Lewis is bringing his introverted confidence up, quite a strategy of a good listener. Dean needed to hear this. I needed it too and felt it through this conversation. Thank you Lu!
So many ultra athletes talk about overcoming pain and/or how to accept it etc. Dean, Goggins etc. I'd really like to know what kind of pain they refer to. Are they referring solely to muscular fatigue, blisters and mental fatigue or more serious pain through torn muscles, tendons etc? Its definitely not a good idea to run through the pain of a torn tendon or muscle or severe joint pain obviously. Great interview and I am a big fan of Dean and his Ultra Marathon Man book.
what a gift to hear this story. it gives me so much power to keep working on myself and to trust my body. I always had this fear about my legs and now o started to run for the first time. And now that i hear all that i’ve had so many realizations 🙏 thank you to you guys for this beautiful work 🌹
Pretty cool interview. Very interesting listening. Dean was one of the initial people that inspired me to run Te Araroa Trail in New Zealand 3000km with no crew in 2022 at 54yr. Great interview, great conversation.
Amazing motivation, drive, ambition, dedication, strength, and Will to never give up! Wow, this man is truly an inspiration!! My perspective on this wasn't only on the physical but emotional, mental, and spiritual... life is a marathon! Knowing who you are, doing what you love, being passionate about what you do, persevering thru the valleys and staying determined while on the mountain top is the ultimate destination! And we get there by staying humble and loving life! It was a joy to watch this!! Thank you both for enlightening us with this awesome story 👏 🙏❤️💯
Some doctors and people no little about the anatomy, lots of people have laziness due to their tonsils been removed, studies showed 60% of the British youth were without tonsils and constantly tired, back in 1952. Tonsillectomies reduce Vigor and vitality in its victims. A 30-year study by dr. Guido calderoli also known as the Calderoli Brothers in Bergamo, Italy some years ago, their book Popoli Senza Tonsille, ( people without tonsils), found removing the tonsils in men and women have an effect on the testicles and ovaries. People with their tonsils removed were always tired, depressed, had social distancing, lack of interest in sex with their partners, loss of sex sensitivity in young women, affected frequency and volume of ministration, urinary infections, restlessness, frigid, dizziness, Loss of ability to enjoy life, just to name a few. They may neglect their children, their housework, their partners their jobs, at one point people without tonsils were refused jobs. According to Dr Norman Walker (colon health), if colonic irrigations were performed they would not have to have their tonsils removed, this applies to all ailments according to the doctor.
I met Dean at the NY Running Company store at Columbus Circle when he released his book in 2013 and ran along side of him for a brief time on the Golden Gate Bridge during the San Francisco marathon that same year. He's a running icon.
Pain is hard because it triggers fear, so you have to deal with fear too. When you know the source and the reason behind the pain, as well as how it affects your body and You(and you know it is not damaging you in a bad way) then you can not only embrace pain but befriend it.
I was asked this same question, how do I push myself to do what I do (business owner of a wellness lounge) all on my own in a very short period of time.... I did not know how to answer that question... 🤔 I just do it. Just like this fellow here, you just keep going and think of taking the next step and not too focus on the finish line
Hehehe. It made me chuckle when he said 'I was a yuppie...remember that term' ahhh love it. I just love the way he owned how he was so miserable in the business world. Great he made the change to feel happy. What a complete inspiration...and Lewis you are just an incredible human. 🤗 ❤
Dean you should join up with Nims Purja when doing Everest. That would be epic. Lewis Howes you should have Nims on your podcast that would also be epic

@lewis Howes did he do it? Have that talk? Thank you I need to have that talk.
Serious question. Does this add years to your life due to lower resting heart rate? they say you only get some many heart beats.
Just like he said… it’s not about the quantity, it’s about the quality. What do you do with those heartbeats?… (it’s a message to myself really)
Oke
