Hey Chuck...how many coats of bondo/resin did you put on...was that the "gelcoat" portion of the molding? Having worked at McKenzie in the mold room i wish i had seen this before...would have made the job alot easier!
In sculpting you’re only limited to your imagination and the anatomy of the animal. Get good reference pics, an animal anatomy book, measurements, and oil clay and you can do whatever you put your mind too!
Yeah basically, I think. I’m no fish guy but in theory you should be able to do it the same way. I would experiment with a non customer fish to start just in case
Great stuff like always 👍keep them coming guys

Shellack, let that dry then coat with pva mold release
@@butchershoptaxidermy4090 ok cheers

Yes that’s the “gel coat stage” one coat is typically enough. Then you can move forward to the mold making! Glad we could help a little bit
@@butchershoptaxidermy4090 so one coat of gel coat and 4 layers of glass?
@ yeah depending on the size of what you’re doing. There may be times you need more reinforcement
Every time you say tacky, Jeff shows up behind you on camera.
Where is the video of the Buffalo being sculpted? Wondering what you did prior to this video to get to this stage.
We didn’t video the sculpting but in the next video there will be some pictures of the process throughout it
Chuck can make a hairpiece with that fiberglass

Would this be the same process one could use to make a fish replica?

@@butchershoptaxidermy4090 Thank you, I appreciate you.
@@williamhoutz3530 let me know if it works!
Don't forget how important it is to use Coke a Cola cups. Other soda cups will destroy your mount
Where do you buy your molds
Gotta make em! That’s what we are doing in this series. Armature’s we sculpted and we are molding them
@@butchershoptaxidermy4090 ok

Sound is too loud to hear you talk. Need hear to learn the procedures.
