    Very cool, I hope I get a chance to see one live sometime, you think you'll ever do one in the morning/ early afternoon?

    Hey, if these require a smoothe, slick surface, have you considered using them over the Liquitex pouring medium?

  • @QueenWaspGo
    @QueenWaspGo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Neat! I wonder how color shapers would work with the markers. I'm also curious since these worked so well for you on yupo how they would perform on frosted mylar since I use it to mount on mdf board to paint on..

  • @Kyomiibrown
    @Kyomiibrown 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice work Lisa! I have always commented that Yupo is the best with these markers on a few of pigment marker videos - certainly came out top in the tests I have done. It beats the very thin pigment marker paper hands down imho. You can blend easier, you just have to be careful not to rest your hand on the paper where pigment has already been put down as it is easily disturbed and takes longer to dry on Yupo.

    • @Lachri
      @Lachri  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good tip about not resting your hand on the paper! I ran into that problem on my first test with these :D

    Very cool. I was excited to see you do a frog. The Red Eye is a cool frog I hope you look at the Dart Frogs if you want to do really cool frogs with amazing colors. Azureus, Bumble Bee, Highland Bronze, etc. are amazing little animals with incredible colors. Thanks for this. I love your work.

    Lisa, can you specify which Yupo paper? When I googled it there are several types. Jjust mention the color on the front cover of the Yupo paper - so far I have seen blue, purple, orange or green

  • @bonnyanderson9976
    @bonnyanderson9976 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bonny Anderson You are doing supperb. To Activate the fine end of green, just push up and down a few times til the paint pigment will com.

    So, is there a difference between these and watercolor markers? Sorry if you mentioned it in the video, but I didn't want to have to sift through an hour and a half to find out. I know you mentioned you thought ethanol was the base, but even so, it still seems to reactivate with water similar to how their watercolor line of markers does.

    • @sofiasartstudios6618
      @sofiasartstudios6618 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Water markers leave streaks and don't blend well. I wouldn't recommend using them for any art projects.

  • @TK-gy5bb
    @TK-gy5bb 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Lisa, i just saw this video and i am really amazed. I own a set of 72 japanese copic markers (.Too), which are also alcohol based and always used there paper too. Is the paper you use like a photopaper? I mean why is it possible to mix the colours with your finger?

    • @Lachri
      @Lachri  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reason these blend like this is a combination of the type of marker (pigment vs dye) and the type of paper. The ink sets on top of the paper instead of soaking in. These markers do not work well on other types of paper, and alcohol (dye) based markers don't work great on the Yupo paper. They don't have great color saturation on it. The Yupo paper combined with these pigment markers is a perfect combo though :)

    These markers look so fun! Unfortunately, I'm a student ( an art high school student, small note) so I don't have the time or money to buy and try out lots of art supplies.
    Your work is amazing - realistic in texture, but very magical and almost too pretty and colorful looking at the same time. I which there were more people like that. Most youtubers OR draw very cartoonish or just draw basic based on reference pictures portraits/wildlife all the time. The first isn't my thing, the second is kind of boring (even though the technical part is often amazing) While my style is, well...Realistic in texture, or at least wannabe realistic, and not-realistic in subject. Or that's what I want it to be. Like said already, i'm just a student, and kind of searching.
    Edit: A small question, by the way: I often see you doing a huge background first, where the initial sketch disappears under the background and is often partly coloured too. Then you start with the detailed part of the drawing and....BAM it's white again. Not a single drop of color that's part of the background where you need to color. How do you do this?

    These are so much cheaper than copics and lightfast to boot I don't why people bother with copics.

    • @charliebaker1427
      @charliebaker1427 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      because they blend better and are water proof ,they last just as long,have more colors

    • @charliebaker1427
      @charliebaker1427 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      and they come in multiple forms, and are refillablr

    • @Lachri

      Copics are not lightfast. :)

    • @jane2286
      @jane2286 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know I was saying the ones you are using in the video are cheaper and are actually light fast unlike copics. I don't think people should be buying copics unless they are digital artists who are always going to scan their work.
