Hey Don! Glad to see you still working on the fleet of Nomads. You're hoping to have them all inside by winter and I'm trying to finish my 56 Nomad so I can cruise it this winter here in Florida. Ha!! I almost have all the updates buttoned up on mine. Can't wait to drive it. Keep at it.
Great update Don! It's tough to let stuff go but, the '57 is still in the family and that LS-6 will blossom into something great when you are able to find a Camaro or Chevelle, hopefully, a '70 Chevelle SS! With either adding on to your garage or letting some go to good homes, I think you made a good choice! It will certainly allow you to put more focus on the '56 and the 2 '55's. That original color on the '56 sure seems like a rare combo, pretty cool! I think the upcoming videos you talk of will be winners too! Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing the next one! Take care! ✌️
Thanks Jeff! 1957 Nomads are my brothers favorite car ever. He has been working on it every day since he's got it. I'm hunting for a original 1970 SS Chevelle or 1969 Camaro for the big block engine. The colors are fairly rare on the 56 and are spring colors released to bring up sales. Talk to you later Buddy 👍
Hey Big Don, was cool to see a video from you, it’s awesome your brother and his son can enjoy the 57, and I really like the sound of a 70 Chevelle SS, that’s my favorite year I like the blue & white, that would be sweet to see how the Nomad came about, good update, have a great week talk to you on LIVE😀😀
Always cool checking out the stable. As a teen, my mom and I dreamed of finding/buying a Nomad. Rare cars in Texas in the 80s. I guess most folks were buying trucks down here. Still on the look-out. It just takes money and time. 🙂
If they made zip lock bags big enough to drive a 55 nomad into you'd be golden. I get it I've parted with many cars and trucks over the years for the very same reason. That and just need the space or just didn't have the time or funds to justify keeping them.
Hey Don ! Its Ray here formerly from Cleveland. I understand your need to downsize and all that, just want to tell you that I'm gonna miss that gasser Nomad, its my favorite car in your yard! That hairy beast!!! I know it'll live on in a Chevelle or a camaro you mentioned. Thanks for this video and take care!
Very cool update Don. I am little said about the 57 but I understand. It’s at the right place to get finished. You both are happy and that’s a win win situation. 👍😎✌️
Hey Don nice to see you & an update.Your being smart here good for you downsizing. I had 6 cars and 4 boats and a aluminum boxtrailer not long ago & I consolidated down to 3 cars & two boats and it was the best move for me. I had an 83 Z-28 Camaro,89 Cougar and a 90 T-Bird. Glad there all gone a relief for me,HA! Ill look around here for a 70 Chevelle or 69 Camaro and let you know later .....
@@donshotrodgarage1717 Yes its a little load off of your shoulders in a weird way. Looking for 70 Chevelles around here not sure if you looking for SS models only . Cheapest one was a rust bucket 72 SS 350 car in York, PA for $5200,HA! later
Good to hear from you Don. Hopefully you can retire soon. It's rough working 6 days a week. I would have a hard time getting out to the garage. I have two cars and still have a hard time finding time to work on one or the other. Sometimes you gotta let something go but hopefully it will go to a good home. Glad you are keeping the drivetrain.
Hey Gorni! I doubt I'll be retiring any time soon. I've always felt I'll work my entire life. I just started a dumpster company 2 years ago and it consumes all my time. Later Buddy
Good to see you going forward. Let me.know about that carb linkage too. Your other 57 is back to a good home and you made another kid happy. He will always remember you for it. It's not gone it's still in the family but it's garaged now.
Good to see you back with a plan Don..... I would disagree with the 56 paint you want. I think it should be the cream and gold myself. You just never see that and it would make that car pop. The cream alone would be bland IMO. Happy to see the 57 go back to your bro. All in the family. And I am glad to see the gasser get stripped and sold off to someone who will finish it up.
hey don glad to see your back but like they say can,t save them all and now you have some room you still have a lot to work on 3 cars keep up the good work love your vids.
Always enjoy your videos! You said something about how to change out the rear end on your car. My 57 Nomad came with the three on the tree and overdrive. So I put a 4-speed in it but the rear end is stock 4:11. So it revs very high on the highway. I’m self taught working on my car for many years. And I’ve never done a gear change but would love to do it. Can’t wait for your video! What gears should I use? Looks like you made the right decision to let the 57 go home. Hope the little boy will enjoy when he’s older. At least it’s out of the weather! Thank you!
I would say you need a 3:08 or 3:36 rear axle with the 4 speed. That will help but the car will still RPM on the freeway. Most traffic drives 75mph plus nowadays. Have a good one
Yeah Bud i bet it was hard decision to get ride of it, But still the Family cool deal. Gold and Cream Man that would be a awesome two tone there. Man I know where that 70 Chevelle SS is here,i know it's all original Because I drove it the 70s , But won't sell and I can't blame him for that , Have a good one Bud 👍👍✌️
I totally get it bud... Ive been thinking about letting a few go, so I can concentrate on less and maybe actually get something done. Haha!! Wonder if Dan started something? Take care bud
Well, you know what they say Don there comes a time in your life when you have to let go of it and as long as you keep going after your dreams you’ll be fine 😉

Love them Chevys! ✌🏻
My too Buddy
I love seeing the door lift and those beautiful 55 Chevy front ends thanks , BigAl California.
Don, the Gasser is my favorite in your collection. It’s the original interior that I like best!
I think it was built into a Gasser in the early 60s. It still has alot of original parts. Later Buddy
Hello Don . So yeah the elements never stop 🤷🏽♂️. Making changes that work for you 👍🏻 is called a correction in the right direction 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎
Glad to see your still puttering away at them Look forward to seeing that car with some paint on it
For sure Terry. Color on that car will really make a difference
Keep on keeping on, great to hear the update.

Hey Kevin! Yeah it's a win win situation. 57 Nomads are his favorite year car. It was a easy decision. Later Buddy
Great to have you back explaining your cars thanks

I love the gold and cream color combo. If I lived closer, I'd help on the paint prep.
Thanks Buddy. If you lived closer I would pay you any amount to paint my 55 Ragtop. You skills are off the charts. Later Buddy
Love the Nomad!

i have one nomad and it's a 57. it's a project but relatively solid. i love all three years though.
57s are very sharp. I indeed love all 3 years
Damn I wish I had the money to make an offer on your 55 Gasser Nomad ‼️ 😢 but you still have a great collection of Tri-5s
hey don glad to see your back but like they say can,t save them all and now you have some room you still have a lot to work on 3 cars keep up the good work love your vids.
Thanks Budddy.
Good update, glad to know the 57 is inside. The 55 should move pretty quick. Happy hunting down a 70 chevelle 😊
Thanks BW! My brother talks about that car all the time. Glad it's back inside a garage for good. Later Buddy

Don, I would like to know where you might be at price wise on the 55 nomad. It would make a great project.
I'll keep you posted

Sends me some pics of that 70 if possible. I remember you saying something about it in the past. Sounds like a good one. Later Buddy
At least the 57 is still in the family , and out of the weather . Hope you don’t get rid of the Cragars with the Nomad .
Hey Howie. I think it was the right move to sell it back to him. Later Buddy
I’m not sure about letting em go … maybe just need a bigger garage 😁
It was the right thing for me. I've spent my entire lifetime fixing cars and ready for a smaller load.
the life of a car guy one guy takes the parts off to sell it to another guy to put the parts back on
Sure is. I listed the 55 Gasser earlier this year and seemed like no one was interested in it the way the car sets.
A 56 red and white is hard to beat I got 56 2dr Delray I want it red and white
Sure is Man.
I totally get it bud... Ive been thinking about letting a few go, so I can concentrate on less and maybe actually get something done. Haha!! Wonder if Dan started something? Take care bud
Yeah Dan did the right thing. For me it makes sense to reorganize my future. I've spent a lifetime fixing cars. Later Buddy
sounds like the 57 went to good home
Sure did. He talks about that car every day. 57 Nomad is his favorite car ever made.
What are the cowl tag body numbers on your Nomads? Always find that info interesting.
The red 55 nomad is a early build#408 The black 55 Nomad is #5853 or something like that. 56 nomad is very late 7683 or something like that.
where and what will you be listening the 55 Nomad for.
I'll keep you posted
They don't start making Nomads till February 1955.
Very first 55 nomads hit the dealerships late January early February 1955
What's your thoughts on price for the 55 Nomad Gasser?
Not sure just yet. I'll keep you posted
How much for the 55 nomad
I'll keep you posted
I thought '56s were Crocus yellow .
Some come that color. This car come Calysp Cream and gold. Later Buddy
Yea I’m going to miss the 57! Does your brother have a channel so I can be his friend and have him give it to me? 😂 just kidding
Hey Randy! I'm trying to talk him into a TH-cam channel
What part of ohio are you in?
I live just east of Columbus.
Well, you know what they say Don there comes a time in your life when you have to let go of it and as long as you keep going after your dreams you’ll be fine 😉
Thanks Big Job Ford! It went to a good home and is inside now. He loves that car. Later Buddy
