hearing this brings me so much nostalgia. even though its been less than two years, this singular video has shaped me so much, and i wish things hadn't changed from the days i watched this.
i remember seeing this on my notifications when it came out, and listening to it every day after, until i didnt.
look at how much they've changed since this. they're almost not the same people anymore, and neither am i.
however, all the lonely nights in life have continued to block the sun.
That's so lovely. I hope you're doing okay another year and a half later.
Here is how I found this video:
1. Spring of 2020, (quarantine) I heard my son singing and playing "This is Home" by Cavetown on my ukulele (that I never play)
2. Summer of 2020, I finally heard official Cavetown recording of "This is Home" and decided I liked it better "unplugged" with just the uke and voice. (Cavetown, you really should record an unplugged and unpolished version with just you and your uke)
3. October 2020, went looking for a cover with just the ukulele bc that's how I fell in love with the song.
4. I found Chloe's cover of "This is Home" from June 2018 (posted a couple months after this when she was still only 15 yo)
5. Started going through her entire post history starting with oldest first when she was only 12. Because she reminds me of SO MANY of my students and I really miss seeing my students irl. (have taught 7th grade and high school math for 20+ years) (NOT a creep, just really missing my students and she really has an amazing voice, deny it.)
6. Oct 28, 2020, got down to her post of "small - an original" which is a charming song about how we all completely lose our cool when we meet an instant attraction/crush
7. Click on the link in her description expecting to hear Cavetown cover Chloe instead of the other way around as is usual.
8. Instead find this lovely lyrical duet cover of a song that I had never heard of before just now.
9. Start laughing out at the comments re the captions.
Just realized that I probably typed all of this for my own reflection since it will not likely ever be seen among the 4,683 other comments already here.
