Daryl interviews Oates! Who would have thought! L🤣L He brought back his mustache! 😃 I still listen to Electric Blue. Written by him and Iva Davies. Performed by Icehouse and John Oates. 🧊 35 years old 🎂 Hanging out with the younger generation helps with writing ✍ new songs 🎵 😃
@@pauli6043 In an interview, John Oates brought his guitar and drum machine to Australia. He and Iva Davies wrote Electric Blue. The drums acted as an overdub. That was 35 years ago! 3 years before Electric Blue, Daryl Hall and Nile Rodgers were in Australia. They recorded Original Sin with INXS.
Hi Katie Hey John Good to see ya Grew up with you n Daryls music Way back when Mid to late 70s Had 8tracks in my old Datsun pickup Before they were Nissans😃 and vinyl in my parents house Parents were big fans too Great music you guys played Really enjoyed and still do Sounds like your Beachfest will be a lot of fun Some old stomping grounds there Redondo/Torrance area on down to Newport n Balboa Good vibes Hope you all have a great time Was a pleasure listening
Katie, this interview opened my eyes wider to why I enjoy your interviews so much , you take these stars that have been interviewed thousands of times and always ask something that everyone else has missed , you are a rock star!
HEY MR. OATS, DARYL HALL IS SAVED DO YOU LIKE " WADE IN THE WATER " & " YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE " BY MAHALIA JACKSON & " ELIJAH ROCK " I'LL SING GOSPELS WITH HIM BUT HE KNOWS I'M AMATEUR WITH AN AWKWARD VOICE? NEVER TELL MR. HALL NO! I MADE HIM MAD BUT I'LL ALWAYS LOVE DARYL HALL & OATES!
QUESTIONS THAT I WOULD LIKE ASKED OF ARTISTS ARE STUFF LIKE, LIKE IN MANEATER, WHO WROTE THE LYRICS, WHO WROTE THE MELODY, THE BASS LINE, THE SAX SOLO. BASSLINE ROCKS AND MAKES THE SONG, WHO WROTE IT, JUST THE BASS PLAYER OR THE WHOLE BAND. WHO WROTE THE SAX SOLO, DID JOHN JUST TELL THE SAX PLAYER JUST AD LIB SOMETHING OR WRITE YOUR OWN SOLO.
BACK IN THE 1980'S I THINK IT WAS, I LISTENED TO H&O CASSETTES CONTINUOUSLY. AFTER BUYING THEIR CASSETTE, I COULD NOT WAIT TO GET INTO ALL THE SONGS ON THE ALBUM, AND I ALWAYS GOT INTO SONGS ON THE ALBUM THAT WERE NOT THE MAIN HITS. THESE DAYS, IN THE MODERN ERA, FOR ALL ARTISTS, I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE OTHER SONGS, I JUST LISTEN TO THE HITS...AND, EXCEPT FOR A FEW, I USUALLY ONLY GET THROUGH HALF THE SONG BEFORE I CLICK OFF. AND, THE SONGS I GET INTO USUALLY CAME OUT 10 YEARS PRIOR TO ME BECOMING AWARE OF IT. SAME GOES FOR MOVIES. LOL!
Such a nice & humble guy. Wasn't expecting a down to earth appearance. Baseball cap, eye glasses & not one piece of jewelry! So refreshing!
We need Daryl's Houses 🏘️ in Vegas and Myrtle Beach ⛱ 😎 💘 please
Great Interview. They certainly stood the test of time. ❤
What a Duo ,when considered, in my opinion as good as it gets.
Awesome interview! Diehard Hall and Oates fan x40 years!!!!!!

Man the stories I bet he can tell. So much good music came from this artist. Have to be one of my all time top ten in the world song writing team.
I had all their albums going up. Playing on my record player.
😳❤️😎 So Cool! Thanks for sharing this John! Loved your music for nearly 50 years, Best Wishes from 19464, Pottstown PA. P.S. Love the t-shirt. 🫡

hey katie, next time ask about their bassist back in the day who passed away. He seemed like such a cool dude. (Random, I know).
He was awesome, Daryl and John did a special about him after his death on Daryls house check it out on TH-cam
@@kathystone1384 will do. hey don't b a stranger when I'm hanging out in your P/L before the angels game.. love free parking :)
T-Bone is greatly missed. Met him in Dallas in 1997. Great person.❤
Hi! Awesome interview! I'm a Diehard Hall and Oates fan x 40 years!!!!!!@
His house looks comfy
They all seem to move to Nashville later on in life
Better than Vegass.
Wish he had been the lead singer on more of their singles, I remember and like "BACK TOGETHER AGAIN " I had that one on a 45 rpm disk back in 1977.

Hauling Oats! I remember that band!
MTV and snappy hooks made these guys. They deserved it too.
Their songwriting..voices..and overall musical talent made them.
