got a jack plane with a round sole, made in 1880. It’s the greatest of planes, you can tilt the plane to take finer or courser shavings... Now I feel I need to make a smaller one as well. Thanks for a superb video, I always enjoy your stuff.
i can always count on you to make a great product and sometimes even accompanied by a pleasant sound... as a candian, wouldn't you support lee valley tools and recommend one of their kits which comes with a norris blade adjuster, far superior to the kernof... imho. thanks
Thanks for the comments. Support Lee Valley tools? Pretty sure we already do that-; ) just come to the UW Toronto and you'll see for yourself that literally all 10 of our bench kits are Veritas. That said, yes, they offer a nice little wooden plane kit that includes an adjuster. I have one and plan on using it sometime for a future plane build, but for the Artisan Program, we make our planes without any bells or whistles- it's good to learn the basics first and then offer students kits and such if they're interested. All the best~
Cory Themilkhouseww yes i know, personally if there is a mechanical adjuster, I'll prefer that over the krenov, just works faster and more stable, thanks.
Thanks for the interest Eduardo- they're the new UW two-handed rasps. Here's a link: theunpluggedwoodshop.myshopify.com/products/two-handed-rasp?variant=39038432589

May I ask why is there a hole made behind blade, since you don't use norris style adjustment? (4:20 in video)

You can get krenov style blades and chip breakers from Lee Valley they are top quality and recommended by their staff.

I love the idea of making your tools. The turning tools I like best are the ones I have made my own handles for
Thanks Scott!

Merci!
Very nice video Tom! What kind of Wood did you have? Greatings from Sweden!!
Greetings back to Sweden!
It's an offcut of some local walnut I had a few years ago. Quarter sawn, instrument grade- beautiful stuff.

the nails are for finger-style guitar playing.
I did it with Woodglut.
