8 amps in this series of all sizes! Available now www.smdaudio.com and many more authorized online dealers and shops. A lot of people were asking me if this amp can handle 1/2 ohm. People have also asked me what the "12v numbers" are like. To me, 12v numbers are completely irrelevant because you should always have an alternator turning when expecting full power from your audio system. A couple of beats is one thing, but with your vehicle not running (providing mid-14v power), your battery will be on borrowed time. That being said, the numbers were pretty respectable IMO. Bumping up to the mid 15v range will make a HUGE difference. These amps are supposed to be 16v stable so there is potential for even more power. The "Dynamic RMS Burst" numbers are what you might expect from music, which is usually very dynamic in nature. That is NOT a "Peak" rating test. But a fast RMS test that stops at clipping. I remember wiring my 2 JL 12s to 1ohm on accident on a 4ohm stable amp and kept blow 100a fuses lol. That shh was banging when the fuse worked though lol

I like the fact you warn people about running at .5 ohm, the dangers, and then do it yourself to let people know what they're working with. It is to power an bus with 50 to 300 loodspeakers (not usefull) or for public adress with some speakers out the bus/truck with an electrogen electricity in case of anomaly (more usefull). Not sure it will pass some many concerts or various exhibitions, more professional poweramplifiers are adapted for public adress.

Question? Ds18 tested the 8500.1 when Jon Rabe was there. Theirs being an actual production model they only tested lil over 9k. I seen u hopped on after their test was over, whats ur thoughts or ideas on why your testing higher numbers @ 1ohm compared to theirs. My guess is ur power supply is much more bigger than theirs. They were hovering just over 14.0ish. Granted, im 3min into this video, so I'll prolly answer my own ? Or at least get the answer to my suspicions. Lmao Just finished the vid and im even more curious as to y their numbers were so low hovering around 14v when u just pulled their same # at 12v. 🤔
@meade916 i re-watched their live stream they was just over 10k @14.3 which isn't much of a difference. Their Certified was 8648 @ 14.36. Not a big deal was just more of an observation. I know not all amps are created equal n not every one will put out the exact same numbers i thought it was a bigger difference than that is only reason i asked.
imagine wiring at 4 ohm and rise to the skyy 8-20ohm rise, i wire my sub at ,5ohm and rise to 1,7-4,9ohm depends on the frequency, and my friend and my customer cars wire at 1 ohm and rise to 3,1-9,7 ohm depends on the frequency
8500w and it comes out 20kw?? where does it fit, anyway... Without a dyno, do you necessarily need an SMD? (the blue box, sorry I don't know the name anymore but I know everyone here knows it 😅) To measure watts, and ohms? because with a voltmeter the ohms are not practical to measure..

I recently bought SD NSV.6 10 inch, 3,000 watt DVC 1ohm and paired it with the SMD 3k. My planned build fell apart and i was left with 1 sub that i made a box for. If i ran the SMD amp at .5 ohm rarely turning it up loud would that be alright? My other option is to run it at 2200 watt rms at 2 ohm. I definitely want to get the most out of the sub but i dont want to damage the amp either. What is the better choice/option?
I'd wire it at 2ohms, or get a recone thats dual 2. I know that's not what you wanna hear, 'cause I'm in the same boat. I have a (dual 4) U-18 because I planned on using a MMATS Hifi4250, (4-channel) with one 4 ohm coil on each bridged channel for 1,600rms (800 per coil), but amp goes into protect, so replaced it with a Stinger MT2000.1d
whats your electrical spec? Have HO altenator? Have BIG 3/4? Have lithium battery? If u dont have any of that and only stock electrical do 2 ohm only, if u have that type upgradeable electrical that im mention then you can go ,5 ohm load and remember build/buy your subwoofer box properly

don't know. It isn't really necessary to be honest. Nobody needs that unless they already have the subs and have no choice. Purchase proper subs to get your 1ohm (or maybe .7 at the lowest) and you will have no problems.

1 ohm, remember that people with good voltage. Put a warning on it. Anything below 1 ohm might pop a sub😂

all you have to do is read the detailed manual and have a little bit of common knowledge...and there won't be any debates. The tools are easy to use.

U can have headroom wired at .5 ohm as long as u adjust your gain and volume to have your amp clamp out the same power as if it was wired at 4ohm.
