Raine was faking the entire time to protect Eda. That just makes this so much more heart breaking and bittersweet.

i thought that they erased the memories first and then the potion was going to be used to keep Raine under control/ not rebelling again so maybe they weren’t acting confused when she was talking about the fight ect

Quick theory: we saw edas record and we saw how the past principal did many unfair rules and bump saw. So what if when he became principal he looked through and took out the unnecessary ones. When eda first saw them she jokes “I thought there’ll be more,” but with bump she sounded surprised
With Faust, her reaction was pure smug snark. With Bump, it was genuine surprise.
So, Raine was faking the brainwashing and had Darius stage their kidnapping so they could infiltrate the Emperor's inner circle. They probably also has Darius reach out to Hunter so they could help him defect or to compromise him.
And given the way the little abomination was moving through the castle with little magical doors might mean the construction coven head could be in on this rebellion too
I think Darius became part of this after the ep 7 considering that the plan was to kill them all, I also hope Steve is in this too

Why didn't Raine not tell this Eda then? They were ready to kill Darius and Eberwolf and die themselves. So I doubt they were in it before. I think they both had their separate rebellions but in ep 7 Darius became aware of Raine and they partnered in this. I think before Darius was only with Eber that we know.

I’m pretty sure that any abomination that has the floating bun is an abomination made by Darius. Darius’s hair is in that shape and when he made that giant abomination to corner our Emerald Entrails, that one had the floating bun. I like the fact that that little design choice shows not only can abomination’s be personalized, but can be given somewhat also a personality.
eda's requiem playing when she meets Raine gives me life
As imposing as principle Faust is, you just know that he does those weird head movements because his horns are just that cumbersome. Imagine when he was younger and he tried to talk menacingly and just knock crap over by a turn of his head. Or even funnier he just be minding his own business and someone would come up behind him and get his attention. "Hey Faust!" "Huh?" 😈💥🤕

Really agree! From what we've gotten to see of her character so far, she's a super cunning manipulator who reads others well, is very comfortable/confident in her leadership position, & doesn't _seem_ to be the sentimental sort, even when her words would try to imply otherwise), & the voice actress brings that all to the forefront.

Just when I started the episode I realized that we hadn't heart young Lilith's voice (except for the "with this spell declared let the pain be shared" but she was a tiny baby) and I love it so much

Just a few things. First: the scene were Eda sees Raine at hexside you can kinda hear Raine's rhapsody/Eda's requiem in the background, I noticed this in your reaction which I think it was a nice touch. Second: the school you were thinking about was glandus not St epiderm, that school we didn't know much about other than it's on the knee and it's expensive.
The reveal of the plan at the end shows why Belos is so gung-ho about putting everyone in a coven: the sigils will suck up the magic & redirect to a new portal or straight-up wipe out the witches (because Phillip is a petty jerk). Not to mention the experiments on basilisks that Vee shared before.
And everyone downplaying Bard magic worked to Raine's advantage.

Until now, season 2B has been pretty chill, except for Follies.., the episodes have been mostly character driven and fairly low-stakes, but her's what we're getting next:

The glyph combos are similar to what Belos is using, the petrification that Belos uses and he also uses the red hands to pin down Luz
Even early on it became clear Bump, while set up like the oppressive boss principal, is actually really cool.

Oh wow, that's awesome! I knew the adult VA was, but didn't know about the younger. They really do seem to try to be as representative as they can (not just 'talk the talk' & all that, but actually try to extend that to their cast).

Yeah, they are really intelligent and talented, learning on their own how to manipulate matter through whistling, and after finding out how bard magic can destroy, they found some way to do it on their own without Eda’s help, probably so Darius wouldn’t want Eda’s help and because they were curious

The bad-place school was Glandus. We don't really know much about St Epiderm except their participation on the Gland Prix thing. And I like the idea that the coven heads themselves are split in their support for the Emperor's plans. And that up to this point we have at least one "ally" of each track on Eda & Luz' side. I tried making a small list earlier today of all I could remember. The only track there's a single friend in - Barcus - is Oracle. /saying that bc Odalia is an oracle but she isn't exactly "friendly" as in "will team up in potential big boss battle" / All other have more than one.
On another note - I'm SUPER curious about that skateboard video.
I love all the parallels between kid Eda and Luz it shows just how like minded they are and it's sad to hear that until Raine Lilith was Eda's only friend.

Great reaction, Morgan, but one point, it was kids from Glandis, where the social system was based on bullying, who were involved in The Looking Glass Ruins, not St. Epiderm. This is actually the first time we've heard about what itis like at St. Epiderm which sounds like an elitist school in comparison.

This confused me a bit, because I never felt that it had been implied in any way that Raine had forgotten Eda. They clearly recognise her, speak of their shared past, and show emotions for her. The implication in that episode was that _only_ the last month had been erased/edited: the span of time in which they had ostensibly been "sick in bed". Thus Raine believed that the last time they spoke had been years ago, possibly when they broke up, as revealed during Eda's flashback dream in 2x08.
As of the end of this episode, it's still unclear how long Raine has been able to neutralise the "tea" they are being fed. Since you've already seen the following episodes, you'd know better than me, whether it is ever revealed when exactly Raine broke free of the manipulations, or if they had never been under at all. Personally, I'd like to believe that it was Eda's confrontation with them that spurred them to think, to question, and to break free. That's a lot more romantic than to think that they were already thinking clearly at the time and decided to break Eda's heart, just to keep their cover and "keep her out of it" for her own good. That would just be too patronising.

Aww, shit, I just went back and checked the episode. The very first time we see them getting the "tea", they are _very clearly_ shown "blowing away the steam" off the brew, and a subtle but unmistakable whistling sound is played over the action. That means they were already clear-minded at that time, and _lied_ to Eda about their memory, in order to push her away. Dick move, Raine! You don't get to decide for her!
They can _tell_ her that they're afraid for her safety. They can _ask_ her to stay away. But they _don't_ get to lie to her, break her heart, and push her away! If they love her, then they don't get to undermine her agency and force her decision, because they think they know better. You better fix yo' shit, Raine! Or I'll seriously consider maybe making a list of reasons why I should probably stop shipping you two together, at some unspecified time in the future. 😉
This is why I live Saturdays. I get to watch the episode and then rewatch it with ya’ll.

Raine I know ya wanna protect Eda but ya gotta know she can protect herself even without magic. Ya gotta have more confidence in her abilities cause Eda's just fine usin glyphs. I love that Raine is basically fooling Terra into thinkin that her serum is working when it's really not thanks to a trick they found thanks to the Bard Coven. Changin the chemistry of the serum is brilliant Raine and the fact that Darius is workin with her to try to sabatouge the Day of Unity is great and all but I have a feelin that ur gonna have to get Eda involved eventually. If and when that happens Raine ur gonna have to trust that Eda's capable of protectin herself.
For Morgan Terry: ( 1:01 to 4:11) I lost my oldest brother and my Grandmother from the same thing and I was just a baby when they die.

Knowing that at this point there are multiple coven heads and others close to Belos working against Belos is honestly such a comfort for me. Even people who aren’t outright against him are at least doing things against his wishes. Belos isn’t that great of a leader.
Lost my dad at six years old. 5 years later, it doesn't go away. But I start to learn how to handle it.

The ending of this episode makes me hope for a moment between them later in the season where Eda tells them something like, "Well thanks for the protection, but you should know, I've never been playing the safe route since I was a witchlet."
