Heya. Mine powered up fine. Yours could be the ribbon cable got disconnected as well in the impact. You can try what I did to disassemble the casing and check if this is the case. If all cables are intact and it is not charging then high chance that the damage affected not just the LCD, but the USB port as well or the main board. In that case it is out of the scope of this video I'm afraid

Hi , thanks for the vid, though I have a question (to everyone) I have replaced the LCD on my hero 4 , I turned it on when it was disassembled. Then once I rebooted the GoPro there was no image left. Do you have any idea what might have caused it? Or what I need to do? Thanks

Hey man great video, just did this and the screen works great and the mode button works. Only problem is now my record and setup button dont work anymore. Any suggestions??
Sort of tge same thing happened to me, i went to flip my quad into acro mode and accidentally disarmed about 200 foot up (i know, rookie error) and it fell damaging the gopro screen and denting the case, part of the screen is still usable so i may or may not fix it. At least if i dont then i dont have to worry about breaking another screen
One word of caution is when you are working on the ribbon cable, make sure you do not accidentally detach the Settings and shutter button ribbon cable as well.. the ribbon cable is at the lower right area and you will see it as it is stuck to the back of the settings button and run all the way to the shutter button. If you accidentally detached it, then you will have to unscrew the main circuit board and reattach the ribbon cable using a BLUNT tweezer
+Ken Chew (Locutus) No worries it was pretty simple to figure out, just a pain to actually work the ribbon cable back in. Hoping this is the last time I ever have to open up my GoPro.

One way to improve the video would be to lock the exposure, as some of the areas that you were focusing on went dark when the camera tried to compensate for bright areas of reflected light in the video, like the back of your hand. Locking exposure on your subject will help you to not have such dark areas. Your video content was great though. I was able to replace my screen. However, after I did, I lost the sound in the audio track of the video. Everything else works fine (regular video, settings like EV Comp, etc), but I get no sound on my video. I did a cam reset..no go. I compared the output to the phone over wifi with the movie on my PC. Same result..no sound. I see that the resulting video files have a stereo audio track, but its just that there is no sound, as if a connector to the mic was broken. Looking at the circuit board, I couldn't see any broken connectors. If somebody can help, I'd be much obliged. I have a Hero 4 Black.

I got it back in by using the tip of an exacto blade. Use the blade to gently hook into the cable and give it a little push and close the camera with care not to pull it back out again. Test it when it's closed but before you put it completely back together again.

Yes, I just bought one with a bad LCD. You can use a Gopro BacPac touchscreen or non-touch screen. Either will work. There a seller on ebay that's selling them at a reasonable price. The seller is "momentummh ".

Lol what a way to do the GoPro in :D Hope you got the footage right before it happened. Well I think in this case it is very hard to gauge the damage without physically looking at the unit. My bet is that the USB port is damaged in the event, hence it would not charge. When you power it up, are you able to make the unit detect on a PC through USB?
It was spectacular, because the firecracker was attached to a big cow bone, and part from it hits the camera under the screen. The footage is broken and I can't find a way to fix it. There is no broken parts on the motherboard, or cracks. When i connect the camera to a computer there is no signal, only the red light is on. I tried to connect with wi-fi to my phone, but it loosing connection. I will try to replace the front screen and then if the problem is not fixed I will try with usb port. I have worries that the procesor is broken from the shock wave.... Thanks for the reply!
I replace the battery of my Ipod Classic , and It's the same , It's easy . I'll replace my front LCD of my Hero4 black , when that dark site will be bigger 'cause now I can use it with no problems . In my case that dark is just 2mmX3mm shape like a tree...xd

it just re conect the click behind the lcd, on the corner , if you have changed the lcd maybe it is unplugged.

I got the screen from a supplier in China. I think for fixing it you could follow my instructions in the video and you could do it yourself :)
