Very interested in that CSB Holy Land Illustrated Study Bible as well! The images look nice and it looks like a good resource.
I absolutely adore my ESV Study Bible. I also adore the Thomson Chain Reference Bible because it connects scripture without commentary. It is my only KJV Bible and refreshing to go back to. I basically stick with the NASB, NKJ and ESV Bibles. I totally agree with your assessment of the Life Application Bible. In the end, we need to rely on the Holy Spirit to show us truth when we delve in the precious Word of God.
There are several Bibles you shared that I also have in my collection. For example, recently acquired the ESV Study Bible and love it. And I, too, started with a 1984 NIV Study Bible. Anyway, this is a most excellent review/discussion, thank you so much! Just subscribed.🙂🙏🏽

I love this video and it has given me some more ideas of what I should get next so thanks
Thank you for the informative comments on the various study bibles. Coherent and cogent walk through the various study bibles. Growing up Methodist, I have been curious if there is an Armenian slant to any bible. So thank you for the comments on the NLT Illustrated Study Bible.
For new Christians I highly recommend the NLT Life Application Bible. You get an understandable translation coupled with notes that help you apply the text directly to your life. There is a reason it’s the top selling study Bible in America.

Excellent information in helping a listener to choose a study Bible! It helped me rule out a lot of them for my needs. Would love your take on the archaelogical, the ancient faith, the tcr, the net full notes, the scolfield and the apologetics study bibles.
I noticed that you appear to prefer the NIV. I have a "Study" Bible in the KJV, NKJV, ESV, NASB, and more recently the CSB. I only recently purchased the NIV large print reader, to make it easier for me to follow along with a pastor/teacher I listen to. I was saved in a King James church so it remains my #1 preference, followed by the NKJ. I appreciate looking up verses, words, and topics in each of the translations to give me a more rounded view presented by the various notes. I appreciate the many translations, but I must admit that I am a creature of habit.
Hey Pastor, me, I have bought several Bibles, I ended up going to the plain NKJV so I can read the Bible first time, then I have a Sword bible, and a NIV
Great video!! the 2 niv bibles but I like the nasb version. Do you know of nasb Study Bible that's close to either of niv study or the niv biblical theology Study Bible thank you pastor God bless you
Thank you so much. My understanding is that the NASB study Bible has the same notes as the NIV study Bible. I won’t bet my life on it but I just heard somebody say that.
Thank you, pastor. I just bought the Niv study bible i seen on your video. I like it, but I need more help understanding. I am not sure which other study bible can help me understand more so that I can speak his word to others. Hallelujah praises God. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you again. God bless you
@@franklopez2744 First, we need to know the meaning of the Bible in one sentence. Here it is. “God’s plan to redeem the world through Jesus Christ means eternal life and abundant life and a transformed life for all who believe.” That’s the Bible in a nutshell. The next thing to do is to figure out the meaning of each individual book of the Bible in a nutshell, in light of the meaning of the Bible in one sentence. For example, Matthew. The main point of Matthew is “The uniqueness of Jesus Christ and his life and ministry and message, and death and resurrection prove that God is with us and is a message that should be shared with the world.” Notice how that fits in with the overall theme of the Bible. And each passage of Matthew has to fit in with the overall theme of Matthew. So, when you preach about the virgin birth, you’re preaching about the uniqueness of the virgin birth, and how it shows that God is with us. When you preach about the temptation of Jesus, you’re preaching about his unique encounter and victory over the devil, and that it anticipates his victory over the devil on the cross. When you preach about the sermon on the Mount, you’re talking about his unique teaching. And so forth. Hopefully the study Bibles will help you figure out the main theme of the other 65 Bible books. But otherwise I recommend the book by Gordon Fee and Doug Stuart “How to read the Bible for all it’s worth.”
@pastor2pastor568 Thank you for your help pastor. I will look into the book. I'm still gonna look into getting another study Study Bible, maybe one for beginners. I'm so grateful he allowed me to him and have a relationship with him and receive his free gift of salvation so grateful!! Thank you again
Hey Pastor , I'm quite new to the faith. I haven't read the whole bible as yet . I was given a study bible as a gift and it's taking me pretty long to finish because of all the notes . Would you recommend me just pick up my regular bible and read that instead. How do you use study bibles do you read strait through or just for notes?
I think what you’re doing is great. Sometimes I read the Bible straight through without notes, sometimes I consult the notes, and sometimes I’ll read all the notes. They are all legit ways of spending time with God. And it’s OK if it takes a little bit longer to get through the Bible, God is going to use everything you’re learning to transform you and equip you to do his work.
I watched this hoping to find any good study bibles I may have missed. Turns out I have every one of these (and probably 30+ more) so instead I learned maybe I have a study Bible collecting problem.
Thanks so much for this video I'm gonna get the ESV study Bible NIV Study Bible and the NIV Biblical Theological Study Bible too because I'm just weird and i want to cross reference those 3 thanks again for your perspective 🙏🏿✝️♥️

I have the MacArthur Study Bible really like the study notes, ...does the MacArthur Bible Commentary has more study notes than my Study Bible? Im thinking if it has 30% or more study notes could be worth it.......... is it worth it to also buy the Commentary if I already have the Study Bible??
If you have the first edition MacArthur study Bible, you probably don’t need the one volume commentary, (the one volume commentary has a few extra graphs and charts) but I haven’t had a chance to compare the one volume commentary with the second edition of the MacArthur study Bible
I have the MacArthur Study Bible in the NKJV.. I think the cross references and textual footnotes are in a - 2 point font. But then, do you really need cross references or textual footnotes in a study Bible? Isn't that what the study notes are for? They just seem redundant to me.
I love the older NLT Study Bible it has good print and three column commentary note layout. I also think the Life In The Spirit study bible would suprise many who aren't charismatic or pentecostal. It's actually a pretty sound study bible but of course acts and 1Cor is loaded full of notes on spiritual gifts. Ya gotta chew the meat and spit out the bones with most bibles BUT I've seen some study bibles that are full of gristle almost un chewable . 😂
I had a friend who had a Dakes Bible, and I loved how it was so chock-full of information. I haven’t seen one in years so I would have to get a new one. Thompson Chain, I know that they are classics, but I’m not familiar enough with it to be able to do a trusted review. Apostolic study Bible, I’d love to see one also.
I own the CSB study Bible both in digital form because they make an app for the Android phone which is awesome and in print plus I own The ESV study Bible and the Hebrew Greek key study Bible in the Christian standard Bible translation

I love the NIV’s readability, and its dynamic equivalence to the Greek and Hebrew. I have been reading the 1984 NIV for 38 years, I have memorized out of it, I have grown in the Lord in that translation, that is the translation that God has used in my life. The 2011 NIV is better in some verses, but I’m a 1984 guy. If the ESV had been around in 1985 when I got saved, I probably would’ve chosen that. Head to head in the places where they differ, I usually prefer the ESV. But in Bible study, when my wife reads her ESV, it’s usually pretty close to the NIV, and when it differs, we always look at the Greek UBS 5 and the Hebrew to see which is better.
I bought a Quest Study Bible and ended up taking it back to the store. I did not like that version at all. There wasn’t enough study materials. I didn’t like the question format. I found the outside columns too wide and when flipping through to find a certain book, it was too hard to see the titles along the top of each page.
It seems so many publications today are hardcore Calvinist. This is and always has been a minority viewpoint in Christianity, but they seem to really be pushing in the last couple decades.
When it comes to study Bibles that have notes from historical leaders or thinkers in the church, such as the church fathers and reformers, then the CSB Ancient Faith Study Bible and the recent ESV Church History Study Bible are highly recommended. 👍👍
@@pastor2pastor568 it's great. Points out a lot of verses that the new Age bibles alter to attack Jesus christ and change doctrines. As well as points out heresies from denominations and rebukes their "proof texts" . Must be sad not to know that a glorious Rapture precedes the great time of tribulation and the church does not experience Gods wrath .Scripture is clear on the as in first Thess- 4:n many other places
1 Corinthisns 13:9-12 We know in part and we prophesy in part... We do not know in part today, nor do we prophesy in part today. We have the whole of scripture today and indeed have had for about 1900 years. When the apostles died out, there was no new prophesy. Only through the laying on of the hands of the apostles, could these abilities be acquired. We have the word and it is sufficient.
Why would read NIV when there are so many key scriptures missing? “The New International Version (NIV) Bible is Missing 40+ Verses Matthew 17:21 - COMPLETELY removed . “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 18:11 - COMPLETELY removed. “For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.” Matthew 21:44 - removed in the footnotes Matthew 23:14 - COMPLETELY removed.” This comment is not intended to argue but very curious.
Long story short, this is a textual criticism issue, and after looking at it, I think our modern translations are better and more reliable than the Greek text the KJV is based on
@@pastor2pastor568 What do you say about modern translations removing I John 5:7, which clearly defines the Trinity…that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit don’t just agree as One, they ARE One?
@@sassybanjo3586 that verse doesn’t appear in the earliest Greek manuscripts, and only in one Greek manuscript before the 14th century. It first appears in Latin translations in the late third and early fourth centuries, and it appears to have come from a scribal note that Jerome had written along the side of 1 John 5. New Testament scholars today are largely unanimous that it was an accidental addition in the TR, not an original verse. We have many other verses in the New Testament, that also clearly teach the Trinity that are authentic.

@@pastor2pastor568 I will leave you with this one thought to consider: John 17:1-3. Here Jesus said that the Father, his God, is THE ONLY TRUE GOD. So, where does this leave Jesus? With this statement he proves the Trinity teaching to be false. To continue preaching that the Trinity is true it will leave you in hot water with your final judgment being adverse. Repent before it is too late.

I don’t have that one yet, but I’ve heard great things about it!
I will feature them in a part two video in the future
What about ruckman reference bible?
I know who Peter Ruckman is, but I had not heard of that Bible.
@@pastor2pastor568 it's great. Points out a lot of verses that the new Age bibles alter to attack Jesus christ and change doctrines. As well as points out heresies from denominations and rebukes their "proof texts" . Helped ground me in the promise that God preserves his words perfectly and that we have them in the king James bible
Must be sad not to know that a glorious Rapture precedes the great time of tribulation and the church does not experience Gods wrath .Scripture is clear on the as in first Thess- 4:n many other places
1 Corinthisns 13:9-12
We know in part and we prophesy in part...
Did you lose the hair 😮
What denomination are you my brother?
Conservative Congregational Christian Conference.
@@pastor2pastor568 oh ok that's a new one for me
Why would read NIV when there are so many key scriptures missing?
“The New International Version (NIV) Bible is Missing 40+ Verses
Matthew 17:21 - COMPLETELY removed .
“Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”
Matthew 18:11 - COMPLETELY removed.
“For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.”
Matthew 21:44 - removed in the footnotes
Matthew 23:14 - COMPLETELY removed.”
This comment is not intended to argue but very curious.
@@pastor2pastor568 What other verses in modern scripture teach that not just the Father and Son are One, but the Holy Spirit is One with the Father and the Son?
@@sassybanjo3586 Matthew 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Romans 15:30, the presence of all three at creation, and at the baptism of Jesus
I have the Jeremiah study bible niv and have the ryrie study bible niv I have the niv bible 2020 one large print pink one my main bible is the ryrie study bible
Please be careful with the ESV Bible,it says that Elhanan slew Goliath not David!😊
Why am I not surprised that you do not recommend the Companion Bible?
Hi Derrick. I was only able to comment on physical Bibles that I own. We do have a member of our church who loves the companion Bible and his was wearing out, so I bought him another one.
The very best study is Jimmy Swaggart expository over 6 million sold they have a Bible -Thon sale the first of every month soled 42 thousand Feb Son Life Broadcasting Television the Longest Christian Ministry in the history of Television if you can not find a Church Become a Media Church member to me it's the best Church in the World Preaching the Message of the Cross 7days a week 24 hours a day Great Christian music if you watch for one week you will not change the station Glory be To God And the Lanb Forever
No love for KJV and NKJV?
an NIV huh? hmm.... No Thanks... AKJB - Cambridge.... now you're talking.
NIV? Are you for real? Ahhh c'mon
Niv you are nieve
The New World Translation is the best Bible hands down.
It’s the Jehovah Witness translation. I use it when JWs come to my door. My assessment of it is the opposite of what you said. I think it is one of the worst translations.
@@pastor2pastor568 No doubt you believe the way you do b/c you are loyal to the dogma of the Trinity, the idea that Jesus is the Almighty God, and the teaching of Hell, which are false ideas not taught in Scripture.
@@RodneyLittle-yr4gm thank you for taking the time to watch the video. Some of the issues you raised really are deserving of their own videos. Maybe I’ll do that at some point.
@@RodneyLittle-yr4gm if we had more time, I would love to sit down with you, and ask you why you believe the way you believe, how you arrived at those conclusions, what can you show me that proves your viewpoints beyond a reasonable doubt, and how you would answer questions I might ask of your interpretations. I find these subjects fascinating.
But I am a really busy pastor and it is difficult for me to block out a lot of time online. Maybe someday I will retire from full-time pastoring so that I can do more intense online ministry.
A lot of BS...
Not everybody will like or agree with everything I say, I understand that.
But I’m so glad you watched! Thank you!
I have watched a ton of study bible reviews. I agree with a lot of reviewers on TH-cam and kind of shrink back whenever a person puts his or her name on the cover.
Sometimes the slant is in the title. An average Bible student shouldn’t be misled if they simply read the title.
