Buying my first cards is actually one of, if not my fondest memories of middle school. We were in class when my friends first introduced me to Vanguard. Interested, they told me to look up the wiki to see if there were any clans I'd be interested in. Spent a few days reading up on a LOT of stuff. Being a huge dino nerd though I immediately went with Tachi. Their super-aggresive Vanguard-centered playstyle felt like a match made in heaven at the time. That Saturday all of them accompanied me to a cardshop in a neighboring city and gave me their Tachi rares and commons to help me build my stuff. The result was a super jank 47-card deck with 13 triggers, 9 grade 3s, centered on the Raptor rideline. Played and lost every game, but looking back now I wouldn't trade those cards and memories for anything else. My last year of middle school was the absolute sweetest, and it was all thanks to them, and this amazing game.
My first deck was the gold paladin trial deck with garmore. I still remember playing that with my cousin the summer before going into middle school. Really is one of my fondest memories and probably why I have stayed with this game for its entire existence. Too many more years !!
Oh shit, you too?! One christmas, my family and relatives gave me and my cousins some vanguard trail decks. I also had the Garmore trail deck. Sadly, I lost mine while showing it of at school. Those were some fond memories!

Mine was a v format shadow paladin deck from ebay. No it was not the trial deck. i got that second. the first decent deck I built was a v format zeal deck.
Not counting trial decks, my first deck was Dudley Emperor. It’s wild to think I’ve been playing something so passionately for 10 years now. Will always play this game.

my first deck was the shadow paladin trial deck, Trial Deck Vol.10: Purgatory Revenger. I bought one trial deck at my locals and played the local tournament same day and got second or first i was a happy lad and forever a shadow paladin main since then. Unfortunetly the game died a few years back way before V started and Overdress hasn't picked up much near me sadly. I still have copium though.
My first deck is the Ren Legend Deck. I loved how it feels like playing like a full complete deck instead of the old trial decks that only run like 1 or 2 main grade 3
My first deck was a BT-01 CEO Amaterasu deck because I was absolutely smitten with her when I saw her in the anime. I eventually transitioned it to Tsukuyomi and that’s how that deck has sat since I stopped playing afterwards and only came back fairly recently.
Still have my Enigman deck built from when I first got into the game, and it still has the OG Daiyusha sleeves on it and everything. I recently brought it up to my room and it's been sitting on my desk ever since.
My first deck I played in a tournament was a Gold Paladin deck, as here in Australia we basically had Limit Break come out right after the first 2 OG trial decks (the start was a bit weird) but my oldest complete deck I have is my Magesty Lord Blaster deck which even back then was NOT cheap to build, but it's still here in my desk drawer, along with the Golds (spectral Duke) and my Ancient Dragons
I still have my old decks on hand whenever a friend feels like playing some old school Vanguard randomly one day, we tend to every now and then but not alot by any means. The oldest deck I've owned is my Blond Ezel deck, I got the Garmore trial deck late after it's release and got a box of BT06 Breaker of Limits for Christmas 😁 Loved making the Time-Leap series as a showcase for my older decks and to build a Season 1 deck for King of Knights Alfred and Majesty Lord Blaster. The original King of Knights RRR foiling is still my favourite, the slashed lines look sick when the unit is also wielding a sword 👌

Is sad because a friend wanted me to play the game and got me pretty into it, but then I realized that theres almost no one else in our country that plays the old version of the game actively so as an Investment standpoint it would be a loss. Anyhow it was a lot of fun playing Beast Deity and Harmony
Wow, seeing 3 PG's brings me back. I remember I didn't even consider running 4 sentinals until around the break ride era since the power was starting to get high enough, and even then I saw a lot of people run some number of quintet guards. I still have my TD01 copy of Blaster Blade.
My first deck was No Life King in V standard. A good memory I spent with my friends through remote fight. Now I am still a fan of V premium, and playing 獣神 since VS04, for I found that the background of this deck is very interesting, the units are from the ancient Chinese legends' monsters. I love Ethics Buster!

My first deck was the Revenger trial deck I never changed much due to me not having the money or living near enough to a shop in order to get much. Still in those same conditions now so the only time I get to have any new cards at all are local events. Wish there were more shops near to where I lived and even some of the ones near my campus are 30 minute drives away without traffic.
My first deck was Narukami trial deck, which I built into vermillion and Shadow Paladin trial which I built into revengers and I still use them when my mates wanna play pre G era vanguard, there still fun to use.

I remember when I was 11, I played the legion LJ trial deck and had a few matches with my cousin. He always beat me up because he used a souped up eradicator narukami deck. Now, I had my hands on the bastion start deck, and I still got beat up against him🤣But it's good to see him back into vanguard and had matches again after a long time

You can still build Dragonic Overlord even in the new series, but if you want an easy and cheap starting point I'd say buy one of the $4 Dragon Empire start decks - both Nirvana and Bavsargra are quite good and are dragon-themed!

At first I had a Majesty deck that my friend handed me but there was literally only 1 Majesty in there (which I STILL own, same with the TD BB and 1 Iseult, both damaged to hell cuz i didnt know what a sleeve was and played on the school floor). But then I decided to make my own deck from stuff that I pulled and made motherfucking Galahad, with 2 SPs in there cuz I pulled the damn things. Had a 1 of Alfred, Thing Saver was my finisher, it was junky even back then but it won me them games until I picked up Libs for Break Ride era, my first actual competitive deck.
Fun Fact! That listing from StrictlyBrokenTCG Was my copy! I sold it to them at mint for 200$ at the time ahaha, Didn't know how much it was worth and very little sale info at the time.
my oldest deck is touken ranbu D :v ,play with magnolia and nirvana (but i use magnolia for tournaments) and in v i have by the moment prominence core,waiting for a complete gurguit v and premium deck , the only card that i couldn't get is the ultimate stride... need to save a little more for it
Ive sold away/lost/idk a lot of the old decks i had but my first like proper deck that wasnt just a bunch of random extra card my friend had was an ott deck built with random commons and rares my friend had with my main g3 being apollon. I actually beat my classmate with it who was like THE vanguard kid in elementary so he bought the deck off me for a way higher price than he should have when i got another deck
