    I was raised Mormon and the past year I thought that o was atheist i didn’t think I could believe in god at all. Just as I was beginning to see god in my life your videos came to me. I know you’re a blessing for me and my testimony. Thank you so much.

    To anyone considering doing YWAM... I would HIGHLY recommend researching things like "ywam cult" or "ywam abuse" to hear the other side of the story. There are some disgusting practices within ywam bases and certain leaders. I am so glad that I got out of ywam but I still suffer trauma from it to this day. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I beg of you do your research I wish I had listened to my gut before doing my DTS. It is not what it is cracked up to be. My spiritual life was shattered after ywam and so many people have the same story. If you DO end up going or are there right now, PLEASE keep your eyes and ears open and LEAVE if ANYTHING starts to feel iffy.

      My opinion is that discipleship programs can preach a do more and try harder gospel (works gospel) which can result in burnt out, not feeling good enough and feeling like a disappointment. It should be what Jesus has done for us over what we do (Biblical gospel). A way to not risk getting into a cult like place is to find a church that use expository teaching (line by line) to teach the Bible and that uses proper exegesis (Biblical interpretation). Also, good things to research for the Ywam base could be- what is their doctrine, try to compare their teachings with the Bible, and ask them-do they follow N.A.R. teachings, etc. If they follow N.A.R., word or faith, positive confession, 5 fold, etc. - run!

    please do research for and against before going to YWAM. and watch Faith Rowe's video called YWAM what you don't know. Many pastors are up in arms about what is happening in bases all over the world.

    As an ex-YWAM Mission Builder then CDTS student going back to 1996 I look back on my spiritual journey and see there were various areas which were not biblical but I was a very new Christian. Saying that, because I was a new Christian I learned a lot and had spiritual input by more mature students and am not sorry I did the training. But YWAM has gone off even more since that time so please if you are considering, do your research as information is out there! We have to line everything we are taught and read with the Word of God.

    Watching this with a sad mind ... my mother doesn’t agree with me doing YWAM because she thinks it’s a waste of money and time . It’s something I wanna do and it’s gonna make me happy and more at peace with my calling but idk I’m at a crossroads now

    • @mattmercer7607
      @mattmercer7607 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Listen to your mother. YWAM is a terrible waste of time and money. It is not even accredited for any of it's training by secular, public, or nearly all Christian universities and colleges. If interested in ministry, missions or serving there are MUCH better opportunities to do so. At least do college or training from somewhere that is accredited. Save your money and time. Most YWAM leaders and staff have zero life experience, education or professional employment outside of YWAM. What good is a missionary in a foreign country that couldn't get hired in their own country, or never has worked or had any suitable job skills themselves? My YWAM leader had never worked a real job, done any college, and had only a high school education to show for ten years in YWAM. I had more experience and maturity in YWAM than most of those who trained and were leading over me. That's ridiculous. Thank your Mom she cares enough to speak some wisdom into your decision. I am sure she does so because she cares about you.

    God has been shaking up my life and opening doors towards YWAM, connecting me with the base here in Perth. I feel like a DTS is definitly in my future, and its encouraging to see two fellow Wisconsinites(!?) with a cool testimony :)

    • @mattmercer7607
      @mattmercer7607 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YWAM Perth I have heard in YWAM is one of the most abusive Bases in YWAM. They even allowed an accused rapist to do a DTS as a student and didn't warn or tell any of the students doing their DTS with him at the same time. This person was awaiting their high profile trial in court for serious charges against them. How did this student get accepted for a DTS? And why were not other students or their parents and families promptly notified? This whole matter is outrageous but it is only the tip of the iceberg as to the stories I have heard about YWAM in Perth.

    I would love to do one, but i'm not sure if it will fit in with the way my life has been set out, especially with school. I'm now really considering taking a year after my A-Levels to do this and then g to university after. It is definately something I want to do and I feel like this has given me an opportunity to do something I have always wanted to do but never known how. If I could, I would sign up straight away and even take time out of school, but I can't. Thank you for making this video, I'm definately going to sign up in a couple of years!!!

      You should feel nervous about joining YWAM or going to YWAM Denver. It is terrible. Total waste of time and money. YWAM is not even training that is accredited. It makes no sense paying YWAM as a student or as a staff to work for them. They make money off your free labor, and because you also pay them to be a student, or to serve on staff. It makes no sense. It is like a pyramid scheme where YWAM is the only one who benefits. I would avoid YWAM at all cost. For me it was a terrible experience.

      YWAM has brought a lot of unnecessary COVID to Kona because it won't follow the rules and State mandated requirements. YWAM Kona has had now two high profile super spreader COVID outbreaks in Kona in the news where people, their own students and staff have gotten sick. I hope the State of Hawaii shuts YWAM Kona down. Part of "Making Him Known" also means living out and showing people His same likewise "Character." YWAM Kona has not done this. They are a terrible Christian or godly testimony yet again to the people of Kona. And that makes God sad. Scripture even says we are to follow the laws and authorities God has place over us in gov't, healthcare etc.

      Did YWAM pay you for your services? Or just profit off of your help, availability, and free marketing services and abilities... as they do with everyone? YWAM has to be the only cult where you pay them as student and staff to market and serve them as recipients of what has benefitted them for FREE.

    Discipleship is the call and responsibility of the local church. Also, my time in YWAM was the most unhealthy, dysfunctional, regretful of anything I've experienced in over three decades as a Christ follower of Jesus. I cannot recommend YWAM to anyone for any reason. There is a reason why if you do a quick google search there are literally thousands of bad experiences, testimonies, blogs, websites, vlogs about abuse, manipulation, control experienced in YWAM. A hard pass on YWAM. Worst discipleship, training, experience ever.

      @@jenniferdrake3536, YWAM is in fact dysfunctional because it's "DNA" (teachings, foundation, philosophy for ministry) that it infuses into us as YWAMer's is not biblical. Some of the worst bad theology I have ever encountered was in YWAM. YWAM also doesn't among many things - value the priesthood of all believers. YWAM only cares about using and expanding the YWAM kingdom. I have known people who have had decades of ministry, missions experience, sound theology, faithfulness in longevity, professional real work experience and career training, Masters and Doctorate degree --- ALL HAVE TO GO DO A DTS or receive unaccredited, training and YWAM Schools to do anything in YWAM. YWAM is a joke. It doesn't respect the gifting, abilities, experiences, GOD HAS ALREADY GIVEN A BELIEVER AT THE TIME OF SALVATION BY THE UNION & GRAFTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT INTO THE BODY OF CHRIST. I could go on and on and on about YWAM and the disservice it is to the Church, the Nations. and Missions. YWAM is the worst. I know personally of so many who went into YWAM passionate, on fire, excited, and burdened for ministry and missions, AND IT WAS YWAM THAT ABUSED, KILLED & SQUASHED that fire, dream, passion, vision and confidence they had in the Lord, their faith, and for the future within them. Shame, shame on YWAM. I know all about it too, because YWAM has done more harm to my walk than it assisted, helped, or made my relationship with the Lord thrive. YWAM was slavery, and a yoke of bondage, not freedom in Christ. YWAM is a cult. There are hundreds, thousands of people who have suffered spiritual abuse, manipulation and control at the hands of YWAM leaders. Look no further than this recent article, which Lynn Green acknowledges about the spiritual abuse in YWAM being true. Why is the common complaint among staff and students in YWAM about experiencing unnecessary spiritual abuse??? You have probably likely encountered abuse in YWAM or been the cause of it, and don't even know or realize it. Give the article a good read, some reflection, introspection, and thought: ministrywatch.com/spiritual-abuse-a-common-complaint-for-ywam-students/?fbclid=IwAR2laagWMbJvruIpGsWJmR_H1HOEgrM6YP_Vb9ZK7x964DicKn3pU6KNGjk

      @@jenniferdrake3536 , YWAM has been a source of abuse for a lot of people, including myself over the years. I know people from every decade of YWAM's sixty plus years who have testimony of abuse from different YWAM Bases from all over the world. I used to loyally defend YWAM not even that long ago, and until I began to realize much of what I had been warned about, or said to me was in fact true. I saw happening before my own eyes for myself. I personally established and pioneered a YWAM Base myself; recruiting a team, building relationships in the community, financing the vision with resources in the tens of thousands of dollars from out of my own pocket, housed hundreds of YWAM students, dozens of outreach teams in my own home. You can think of me how you want, I don't care - but I know without doubt YWAM is manipulative, controlling, and absolutely spiritually, emotionally, psychologically abusive. I have 100% seen wicked selfish shepherds in YWAM. Just because you haven't seen or experienced it doesn't make it false. Jesus own trial at night before his crucifixion was certainly true but not witnessed by many yet it happened and is a true event.

    I am beyond disappointed you didn’t address my question. I know you just want to see good in your mission trips but you’re not thinking beyond yourself. It’s an extended form of Northern Imperialism and White Saviour Complex. Look them up and look up how harmful these trips can be to host communities. I did my masters thesis on this. Please. Just do your research becfore you go, not just “how much does it cost” but “will this do the community actual good? Am I going to have an experience?” Ignore the message part of this and think of human beings. Just. I’m so sad you didn’t touch on it.

      Paula Br. I don’t even mean converting. That’s an entirely different story and it’s not fair to get into that because that’s an argument about religion and this isn’t what there channel is about. What my argument is, is the damage it does to communities to constantly have missionaries and international volunteers in said communities. A few companies do it right, but so many are for-profit and do so much more harm than. People don’t realize that, and so so few people do their due diligence and do the appropriate research before ruining whole communities in developing countries.

      Okay I get that but these -specific- countries are already "Europeanized" to a large extent. Economics may put a hold on certain aspects (mostly infrastructure) but still... None of the "white" culture is new to them. They may not experience some of it first hand but they know the existence of it. People underestimate developing countries quite a bit.
