Avoid This Scammer at the Pyramids 🇪🇬 Egypt

  • Egypt, Pyramids: when you visit the Great Pyramids of Giza you'll be spending all your time avoid people trying to scam you or to sell you something. In this Pyramids Scam vlog I analyze the technique of this scammer, I'll show you what this scam looks like and how to avoid it.
This pyramid scammer will try his best to show you that he is your friend and then, when you get close enough to him, he'll ask you to make him a photo and that where the scam starts. Then he will tell you: "I'll take a photo of you, for free" and when you'll be sitting on the camel he'll make the camel stand up and you'll be stuck on it!
Once the camel is moving, the only way to stop it will be to pay off the scammer.
It's really sad the Pyramids are like that.

I was in Egypt 2 weeks ago, WE went to the Pyramides and one "official tour guide" guided us even if we didnt ask for any guide. He explained very bad, and then wanted to force us to take the camel. We refused, but he continued, continued, continued...
Then WE said nooooooi, and he wanted like 20 dollars for his 5 minutes shit tour, WE gave him 50egp and he wasnt Happy about IT, so he gave the money Back and ask for more. I took the money and just ignored him, even if we was following me.

He’s not official tour guide. They are some scammers who pretend to be tour guides.official tour guide will never stay at the streets beside pyramids or museums to catch a client.

If you find yourself in a similar situation, don't fight anyone, especially around the pyramids. These people are a local mafia: one of the richest persons in Egypt, Naguib Oi Sawiris, got a contract to clean up the area around the Pyramids to make it look beautiful, welcome and Safe for all the tourists, but the camel guys didn't allow it. They want nothing to change and they have their own rules and weapons.
To be safe, agree on a price before touching any camel or horse. 100 EGP is ok for a half an hour trip, but don't let them pressure you. They will always ask you for more, but just pay what you agreed to pay.
PS: the piercing on the camel nose has been illegal for years

That contract is still ongoing by the way. the restaurant that Michael tried few days ago was part of it. Naguib said the project should be ready by the next winter. When this is done tourists should be able to pay directly to Naguib's company rather than having to deal with those scammers. I hope this goes will

Everything out there is either tip or fare-based, or both. Nothing is free, unless you stand your ground. It does get annoying at times, and you end up rushing through shops and walking away just to avoid these situations, and 'laa, shukran' isn't always enough, but no means no there, too. In my experience things will never escalate. They know what they're doing, and being pushy works for them, but sometimes it doesn't and they also know that and act as if they were really offended, but that's pretty much it.

Officially to feed a camel in Egypt for a month costs 1000-1200 Egyptian pounds, that equals 50-75 dollars.
Most of them try to charge you from 350 and above.
So if they find 2 tourists with 150-200 and one with 350.. which they can get much more.. but even like this they can get at least 750 per day, in the summer probably they can make 50k+ Egyptian Lira per month

There is a city in a country i don't want to mention whereby once you enter a shop looking for nice clothes and you don't speak the local language, there is no way you can come out until you buy atleast one item out of your will !!!!
So anyone who is familiar with their tricks knows the secret to avoid falling for them. Which is to not go alone for shopping. Take one or two of your friends with you and you are good to go😁

The average salary in Egypt from 100 to 200 $ for 90 % of honest hard working Egyptians. 4 to 7 $ for day. so 20 $ for horse ride its robbery. And what you have gone through in Egypt have no relation with poverty at all. It’s because of corruption. in Egypt you will make a lot of money from scamming tourists better than working honestly and nothing will happened to the scammers because the corruption
