Mark Knopfler is always forgotten
Rory Gallagher aswell
Nuno Bettencourt too
Steve Howe
That's because he is greater than this list
Steve Lukather,Steve Hackett,Steve Vai so many more to lists over the years history
I wish that Prince got more credit as a guitarist, he was so fucking good man.
He was a good guitarist but he was a better songwriter
He's not as good as people say he is! Overrated
@@christopherrelyea349 agreed
Prince? Is this a real comment?
In no particular order of rank:
EVH, SRV, Hendrix, Clapton, May, Knopfler, Blackmore, Satriani, Vai, Eric Johnson, Page, Jeff Beck, Alex Lifeson, Gilmour, Randy Rhodes, Dimebag Darrell, Johnny Greenwood, Paul Gilbert, Tom Scholz, and John Petrucci.
3-jimmy page

1-jimi Hendrix
Eric Johnson

1. Jimmy Page
2. Eric Clapton
3. Jimi Hendrix

My top 10
10. Keith Richards
9. BB King
8. Pete Townshend
7. Stevie Ray Vaughan
6. Duane Allman
5. Eddie Van Halen
4. Chuck Berry
3. Eric Clapton
2. Jimi Hendrix
1. Jimmy Page
Literally more than half of the original yardbirds are in the top 6
I was so happy to see David Gilmour in the top five... And yeah, I know people love Hendrix. But I don't think he should have been #1.
You’re crazy, and don’t know music if you don’t think Hendrix is number 1
@@kellyf5004 ok Mr. Trendy....lol! I've seen Ike Turner do the same shit with a guitar as Hendrix and he was around before Hendrix. So in many ways Hendrix could be considered a bit of a thief. But then again you think he should be #1, huh?
Impossible to say who are the top 20 greatest guitarists! it's all a matter of opinion, but my top 5 are.... David Gilmour..... Jeff Beck..... Gary Moore..... Jimmy Page..... Richie Blackmore.
Putting Brian May 12th is shocking easily top 10 ffs lol
someone asked jimmy hendrix what it was like being the best gutarist in the world he said i dont know you better ask rory gallagher and dont forget about johnny winter
There should be 3 groups of people voting with 3 different outcomes.
1st group - fans of rock
2nd group - experts
3rd real players/musicians
Tommy Emmanuel
Rhoads seems to be a really hard name to spell right for a lot of people.
Almost spit out my lunch😂 I like to troll my brother when we talk eagles and add a “d” to Don Henley’s name just to piss him off.
The top 3 for me is:
1- Brian May
2- Slash
3- Jimi Hendrix
🔥🔥🔥
Slash is my favourite guitarist but I’d wouldn’t put him and Brian in this top.
@@romanpears8442 definitely not in terms of technical ability
They played Ramblin' man when the showed Duane Allman's picture and played While My Guitar Gently Weeps when showing George Harrison's photo, sigh!
Another list, another opinion is all. I love that we rage on about our passion for this art. I aspire to play half as good as all of the for mentioned. Et al great artiest’!
I still say all greatest list start with a shout out to earliest influences, without which we wouldn’t have any modern greats!
1 Gilmour
Very good list but Ritchie Blackmore should be way higher
Jimi once said that Rory Gallagher was the best. Said the same about Billy Gibbons too.
Terry Kath? Alvin Lee?
list invalid
For people in the comments. It is important to evaluate not only the technique but the songwriting skills and impact on music.
I don't get why so many best lists don't include Robin Trower. Dude could shred with the best of 'em.
Fast Eddie Clarke Motorhead,Neal Schon Journey,Steve Vai, Nile Rodgers,Joe Satriani,Buck Dharma BOC,George Lynch Dokken,Randy Bachman,Aldo Nova and Paul Reynolds deserves a mention so young left the business after 2years Flock Of Seagulls,i put a few rare define names who are brilliant
D trucks
This is definitely not a list based on skill it's more based on what a lot of these guys participated in cuz if this was based on skill and rock guitar you'd have way different names than this
You could come up with 1000 different lists from a 1000 different people. Any list is subjective and open to personal choice. But I think nearly everyone would question Richards ( Ronnie Woods is a better choice ) Harrison and Townsend over Gallagher, Morse or Buchanan. 😎👍
So happy to see Alex Lifeson on this list
Why is Mike Oldfield not rated highly in these so called lists of the World's greatest Guitarists? He could and will always be able to grind even the best of them into the ground
Steve Howe
My opinion would be significantly different.
The Windmill!
My top ten guitarist for me is…
1) Jimi Hendrix
2) Jimmy Page
3) Eric Clapton
4) Rory Gallagher
5) Joe Bonamassa
6) Josh Homme (QOTSA)
7) Robin Trower
8) Angus Young (AC/DC)
9) Stevie Ray Vaughan (SRV)
10) Robbie Kreiger (The Doors)
robert fripp is one of the best, he isnt just the guitarist of king crimson but also has a good solo career and was main guitarist on vdggs best album he also was on heros and other bowie records and on peter gabriels first 3 albums also on fear of music
Where the fuck is Albert King?!??
Any list of the best guitarists will have criticisms, but I found a good list including Pete Townshend and Alex Lifeson
Bryan May better than Randy Rhoads?
@BoomX Games that's exactly what I'm saying.
its not in order
Not even close!
Gary moore?
You ask 20 different people to make a list of 10 best guitarist, you'll get 20 different list.
One thing I noticed about this list, plenty of Gibsons.
Kieth Richard’s over Ritchie Blackmore ? And no Yngwie on the list ??? Lol
Not having the edge or John frusciante is disappointing
No it's not, they are both highly overrated. Nothing they do is special, not to my ears, and I can't stand either of those bands.
Slash!
No Terry Cath, about him Jimi Hendrix saw that Terry is better the Jimi
1 Jimi Hendrix
2 jimmy page
3 David Gilmore
4 Eric Clapton
5 brain may

Steve Howe? Prince? John McLaughlin?
steve vai?
Where is ROY BUCHANAN ???
Good list BUT (always a but) move Jeff Beck to number one, and expand your list to 30 adding: Rory Gallagher, Frank Marino, Johnny Winter, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Roy Buchanan, Dickie Betts (the music you placed for Duane Allman, was actually Betts playing) Peter Greene and the incomparable Derek Trucks (best electric guitarist in the world, right now).
You read my mind in all areas brother.
I love Brian May
What about RORGALLAGHER ?
Where Is Angus Young, John frusciante and Kirk Hammett
BRIAN MAY AT 12?!?!?!?!?
Angus Young
Melcum young

Tony lommi
Slash shold be higher

WHER IS RORY GALLAGHER??????????
This is a popularity contest. No list is complete without Rory!
Keith richards is higher than brian may and slash?
Brian may for me on 1 please
I am number 1
Did I miss Steve Vai?
Where's PACO DE LUCÍA???🤷
Where is Gary Moore?
Falto en la lista :(
Tommy Emmanuel
- Mark Knopfler
- Mike Oldfield
- Buckethead
- John Frusciante
Not Buckethead and Mike Oldfield
Mark Knopfler is a god
And I would add Mark knoffler and the hugely underated Rory Gallagher. Listen to what Gallaghers peers said about him. Brian May says Rory "gave" him his sound which was a hallmark of Queen. I urge you to seek out Rory's guitar playing on TH-cam. "Laundromat" live at Montreux would make a good introduction
Dimebag Darrell

Great job including Alex Lifeson on the list. He's really underrated
Which is the song that accompanied Alex Lifeson
@@manueljesusmosqueragutierr8249 YYZ
They left out the greatest guitar player ever : Michael Schanker
Why nobody knows Gary Moore? By the way, great that George Harrison made the list, very underappreciated as a guitar player
@@Eelis6562 la villa strangiato too
Gilmour proves you don’t have to be fast to be good
He also proves that he is very overrated
@@basileproust231 Your opinion is overrated as well....
Where is the Angus Young ??
brooo
Australia! 🤣
😭
Duane Allman needs to be waaaay higher up this list!!!! I would put him in the same class as Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. When you show Duane Allman you have the song Ramblin Man playing which was recorded after he died and played by Dickie Betts...
Glad someone else recognized that. If Duane had lived past age 24, I say he would have become the greatest electric guitarist of all time.
Agree I like him
Exactly
Dickie Betts should be on the list
Was going to mention that gaffe. Obviously it is Bett's countyish sound while Allman was much more bluesy.
Not putting prince in the entire list is a joke smh 🙄
Truly. The disrespect is unreal.
Putting slash at 16 is a crime

All popular names. Not even close to being the best guitarists of all time. Should be called the popular guitarists!
prince not being on the list is wild
U could say that he does it all u mite aswell be neverending list of good or great guitarists 🎸 just know one will know it's fun and opinion of who u like etc we live in on Planet Earth our World 🌎🌍 is classy just hundreds and thousands applying it u could add Elvis or David Bowie they play abit not bad.Elliot Easton Cars,Steve Clark Def Lep,Vernon Reid Living Colour debate live on.Say that about Drummers,Bass Players and Vocalists, genre all around the World 🌎🌍 specially 50s -80s class and competition in Music

1. Jimmy Page (Zeppelin)
Harrison ?? Richard ?? But non Steve Hackett or Rory Gallagher ??
Les meilleurs guitaristes.. où les plus connus ??
Where is Gary Moore?
Very subjective list but I love almost all these players.
there isnt a way to objectively rank them bruh
Alvin Lee
I’m gonna get shit for this, but Jimi Hendrix is overrated. Doesn’t deserve the top spot on every fucking list like he gets. I’m not shitting on Jimi, he’s good, but I never got why everyone thinks he’s the greatest of all time no question.
Jimi is way overrated! He was good but not great
This is list is somewhat of a joke.
First of all, if it was titled something like, "the best rock/blues guitarists of all time", there would be a better argument for those listed.
But it doesn't. It says "greatest guitarists of all time". There are dozens of guitarists, that can outplay the vast majority of those on the list. And no, I am not only talking about speed.
John McLaughlin, Allan Holdsworth, Paco De Lucia, Steve Howe, Robert Fripp, Steve Hackett, are all better than the majority on this list.
Even Eddie states, and rightly so, that Holdworth can outplay him in every respect. And George Harrison?! Seriously? The guy wrote some great songs, for sure. But he is NOT a guitar player.
And don't even get me started on Gilmour. I am a Pink Floyd fan, but the guy has nothing, as far as I'm concerned. He's a minor pentatonic, one trick pony.
Alright, there is an abundant lack of Mark Knopfler
Slash is such an overrated guitarrist. Number 16. My god. He is not even top 70.
After reading the comments I'm shock that not 1 mention of Terry Kath or Chicago.Even Hendrix said he was the Best.Check out Tanglewood 1970 25 or 6 to 4
To me ,most Clapton stuff is not that difficult to play but it works very well in the songs and is soulful. That also makes a good guitarist.
Ngl i mostly agree BUT i woulda put EVH at the 1 and Jimi at the two with Santana at the 3. I love Santana too much having at him at 20 is disrespectful, he's on par with if not better than Chuck Berry. My opinion of course
Bs
No Knopfler a legend. Blackmore. Steve Morse and Brian May. Doug Aldridge. Gary Moore.
gimme Frank Zappa!
A good list. I think you have to include SRV in the top 5 but still a really good list. I would also think Mark Knopler and Neil Young should be in that list too but a good job 👍
SRV is definitely underrated by many. Seems like they only pop on pride and joy and don’t hear anything else.. maybe that’s just my opinion though… For me he’s always been up with Hendrix and EVH
Stevie should be in the top 3 easily and Bonamassa should be on this list as well..
I personally feel Lindsey Buckinghams guitar work Is overlooked.
Where is Steve howe
Trevor Rabin, Mark Knopfler, Steve Hackett, Steve Vai, Mike Oldfield, Dimebag Darrell (R.I.P.), Stanley Jordan!!! Steve Lukather...and many others

Where is Steve Vai??? 😂 Dude's out of his mind
This list is a joke. there are 5 guitarists on this poll who say Django Reinhardt is the man. So how does this work
Greates of all times is PACO DE LUCIA
Keith Richards in the top ten and Slash at 16...wo ever made rhis list was high!!!
John Mayer is so criminally underrated it’s not even funny. Bro can play a guitar like Sins can work an occupation
I’m John Mayer big fan. But he is top 100 for sure.
