I hadn’t used my machine at all and my husband bought it for me about four years ago. It intimated me until I ran across your TH-cam You are simply amazing in giving instructions. I’m a tired teacher and I know when it comes to some people instructions has to be very detailed. Thank you!, Looking for more tutorials from you.
Thank you for such a complete instruction tutorial. I was able to use my machine immediately without any problems. You answered all my questions the first video I watched did not and just frustrated me. Perfect, super and I will watch each time you put a video out.
Thank you Thank you.....I put my serger in the basement 5 years ago. I never could understand the handbook and felt this machine was a waste of money. Your tutorial was excellent. It sewed the first time and looks great. I'm excited now.
I got my machine 2 or so years ago, and I still come all the time to make sure I am doing it right the first time! I thought it was about time I said thank you for taking the time to make this video for this machine, it has been invaluable to me as I have taken on home projects over the years. You're the best! 🌹
Love this. I have wanted a serger forever & finally purchased this model. I have never used one before & feel quite intimidated even though I have been sewing for nearly 15 years. This tutorial has taken the mystery out of the threading for me! I look forward to your other videos, Thank you!!
My serger has been sitting here collecting dust for two years, because I just couldn't understand the instructions and the wasn't a good instructional video that I could find. Today I found this! Thank you! You're a great teacher!
Wow! I'm looking into getting one. Was hesitant in getting one, since I'm brand new. You give such great instructions. Think I'm going to buy one and listen to your tutorials. 😊
I just wanted to say you helped me make my choice I am for sure getting one of these machines. So I am looking forward to your future tutorials ^^ Thanks for the threading tutorial.
As others have mentioned and after looking at my manual again..it does say to start with the orange, the upper looper as do the instructions on the machine inside cover. All other videos also say orange, upper looper first .You seem to have great success doing the lower looper first. Doing it this way, may be better. Your stitches look nice, so I will give it a try!!! Thank you
Thanks alot for the clear illastrations...by looking and hearing to your guide line I have got my overlock machien well done...I am sooo happy because the machien works without any problem.
EEEEEE! I'm so excited! My brand new Singer Serger came today, I'm new to the whole thing, sewing, everything! I looked up how to on here, watched the introduction first, and had my new machine sitting right next to me. My Serger came already threaded, but I cut the line, and started from scratch with you... You made it look so simple, and your steps are so easy to follow, I used an old throw away shirt, and practiced on it, made a little pillow for my daughter. I can not believe, the same day I got my serger, is the same day, I would be doing my first practice on it, thank you so much! I look forward to all your other videos. I will have to look and see, but I also just got the Singer sewing machine too, maybe you have some videos, on that, and how to get started, like I said, I'm a newbie, and all this so out of my comfort zone, but I'm a crafter at heart, so maybe this wont be so scary, as I thought it would be. Again, thank you so much.
I can't thank you enough!!! Just like everyone else, I've been putting off using the surger for so long, afraid of the threading process. Your video was awesome! You're awesome!! Thank you a hundred times. *Please, one question, your video doesn't tell me where to put the ends of the threads. In a normal machine, I have to hold both ends before starting my stitches. Where does the yellow and orange thread ends go please? And thank you again. 🌼
Thank you so much. I have been researching Sergers and have steered away from the Singers. Your tutorial made it look so easy and your stitching looked perfect. I am now considering a Singer. How would you rate the Singer Pro Finish as compared to a Bernina, Husquvarna, or a Brother?
My serger is this same model but my front threads look great but when I turn it over the threads look awful they are loose and I can’t figure it out thought maybe you could give me some advice what I’m doing wrong. Thank you in advance
Hi Belinda. If you've adjusted the dial with no stitch improvement, that means the thread is not passing through the tension disk properly. Make sure to lift presser foot and set dial on -0- when threading.
Where do you place the loose threads after the machine is threaded? The video does not show this. It just all of a sudden shows all the threads braided and coming out to the left of the needles.
i have been having trouble for three days with my new machine. I have watched the dvd that came with it and your demonstration as well. All the information that came with my machine said threat the upper looper first, but you thread the lower looper first. Is is really such a big deal?
Hi Teresa. Yes, it's a very common misconception to thread your machine in a particular order. I've owned and used many sergers over the years, home and industrial model and have never found any issues threading the way I show in my demo. I think the common problem is not leaving a long enough tail in the back before starting to sew. Depending on where the loopers are in their rotation, sometimes the slack pulls the thread out of the loopers causing it to become unthreaded. I know it can be frustrating. If it makes you feel more comfortable and are more successful threading in a particular order, do so. This is all supposed to be enjoyable not frustrating. Good luck!
This is a great series!II have a question about the different stitches. If you are using only a 2 or 3 thread stitch what do you do with the other threads? Do you remove them from the machine? in the book some of the stitches have a blank spot for the tension area, what should i do?remove them? set tension to 0? Thank you so much!!
Hi Kim. Yes, any needle or thread that's not being used for a particular stitch should be removed. For example, if you're doing a narrow 2 thread rolled hem using the right needle only, make sure to remove the left needle and unthread the unused looper. HTH
I keep reading that the upper Looper needs to get threaded before the lower Looper or the threads tangle...I noticed that you threaded the lower Looper first. How does that work for you? Also exactly where do you leave the thread ends after threading the loopers.
Hi Lucia. I've never threaded in any particular order and have been successful for years. Please feel free to thread in order if you feel more comfortable. The most important thing to remember is to lift the presser foot, set the dials to -0-, and make sure the threads are passing through the tension disks properly. After threading, reset dials. I always put the threads under the presser foot before putting the presser foot down. Make sure the tails are long enough so it doesn't become unthreaded as the machine goes through it's rotation. Happy Sewing!!
Hi Farrah. If you go to 5:20 in this video, I point out all the thread guides for the yellow thread. There are also color coded illustrations on the inside of the machine to help you.
thank you so much. I have bought the same exact machine 2 months ago but I never got the chance to thread it. yesterday I played your vedio and followed your steps :)
Where is the thread for the lower looper (yellow color coded thread) supposed to go after you get it through the hole on the bar???? Please help someone! There are a lot of random threads and metal pieces on the metal plate where the fabric goes and I can never figure out exactly how the yellow thread is supposed to be situated after it has gone through that needle hole. Thanks.
Hi Kevin. I'm sorry you've been frustrated with threading the lower looper. Please go to 6:40 on the video above. It shows how I pass the thread behind the horizontal bar to catch into the slot on the left side of the bar and then thread the hole on the right side of that bar. After you thread that last guide, pull the thread to the back of the machine. When your finished threading your machine, pull all the threads together under the presser foot and while holding them together, press the foot pedal to stitch. The machine should create the serger chain. I hope this helps. This is a little tricky. If you need more help, let me know.
Hi Kat M! This machine in a serger/overlock and does not have the capability of doing a coverstitch. There are other machines on the market that can do both a coverhem and overlock stitches.

How do you replace the light bulb when it blows? Can't find anything on the MANUAL or online! So frustrating!!
Great Video But my cutter will not cut my fabric any longer!!! Please help!!!
HI Erin. Thanks !! You may need to have your cutter replaced. Bring it in for service and have it checked out. Good luck

Ty I think I might be able to use my server which has been in cabinet for at least 5 yrs. Lol
Hi Ernestine. Take your time and really learn how to use your serger. You will love it.
can you do a cover stitch with this machine? If so can you demonstrate?
Hi Kat M! This machine in a serger/overlock and does not have the capability of doing a coverstitch. There are other machines on the market that can do both a coverhem and overlock stitches.
Great video!
Thanks again Marge!
Do this machine have safety stitch?
Yes, the 4 thread mock safety stitch is perfect for construction.

Thanks Rebekah!
I just bought my seger is common that my seger feed dogs are not moving. When I press my foot on the peddle the machine just makes a noise. The feed dogs do not move at all. Im asking because I'm ready to send it back to the manufacturer
Sounds like you may have received a damaged machine. The feed dogs should move.
Love your videos, just wish your camera was a little clearer!
The instruction booklet says to thread the orange first.
Hi Elaine! It's really not important to thread in any particular order. It's a very common misconception. You're welcome!!
what if it still doesn't work after following these steps of threading
Probably best for you to call Singer directly to troubleshoot or your vendor for service questions.
The instruction say thread the yellow first.
Hi Elaine, I never have threaded any of my sergers in any particular order. Never any issues. If you feel more comfortable threading in a specific order, by all means do what makes your feel comfortable. It's all about what makes the machine operational. Happy Sewing!!
