Not to mention he only gets horny whenever his wife is around. Tsukasa: Textbox of typical experience Asian housewife. Know how to cook and manage the household spending. Though she's a pretty big pop culture with movies, video games with anime and manga herself which is a bonus. The author used his marriage experience for this manga and it was not far from a successful marriage in real life.
@Rem Well, 16 is the marriage age in Japan with family consent for girl. Not to mention it was hinted that she was much older than that. Also, I read the entire manga till the latest chapter and 90% of how Nasa and Tsukasa kept their marriage stable was pretty spot on considering I had the functional family (minus the loveydovey stuff. Funny enough, I loved watching this anime with my SO because we related to the embarrassing tropes and those misunderstandings. Those moments of misunderstandings actually got us closer since we acted similarly to the main leads. So for us, other than the fact that they were strangers and married on the spot, it was realistic.
Especially when nowadays many titles like to be axed and because of this make an ambiguous ending, which will be somewhat explained in the epilogue, if you are lucky.
This isn't an anime-only thing. Most western TV shows with a will they/won't they dynamic usually go downhill as soon as the leads get together. It completely changes the dynamic of the show and most writers seem to miss this fact. You've resolved the dramatic tension at the core of the show, why should we keep watching?
@@mariokarter13 This is a problem with execution, though, not a problem with the concept. A story where there is absolutely no conflict whatsoever or no struggle for anything is not enjoyable, so conflict needs to exist in the story. The issue lies in how the author manages to execute the introduction of this conflict and its resolution, not in the existence of a conflict dynamic itself. There are plenty of romance stories that do not fall for this trap, by the way. Examples I can think of are Domestic Girlfriend and Kaguya-sama: Love is War, although Domestic Girlfriend unfortunately fails for other, different reasons. So again, this shows that the problem is one of execution, not of concept. There is absolutely nothing wrong with there being a portion of the story dedicated to the main characters struggling to get together.
A romance anime without drama was actually really refreshing and it made me wish we had more like it that were actually good. It wasn't more realistic, but it felt more realistic just because the drama tropes were thrown out the window and replaced with funny flirtatious comedy.
It's a simple romance and that's all it needs to be. No complications or drama, it's doesn't have a deep plot and it doesn't try to. The amount of times I myself asked other people "Hey is there an anime where it's just about the MC's being together and being happy?" and every time I'd get something like "Well there's [Insert romance anime] but only in the end do they finally get together for real / they get together but [insert tragedy] happens / MC likes this girl but also likes another". Sometimes I just want it to be *simple* , and the fact that something like Tonikaku Kawaii is so rare makes it a precious diamond in the rough.
I think a great way to surmise this show is actually unrealistic slice of life. The characters are thrown into an unreal scenario, but their actions and emotions are real and that drives the narrative. Great video! Can't wait for the next one.
I literally just finished this anime last night and I LOVED IT!! No drama at all but I kept on waiting for somthing bad to happen and it never came! It was sugary sweet and laugh out loud funny and it was beautiful
One of the main points of enjoyment my fiancé and I had while watching this was the chance to revisit our own relationship at the beginning. Ex. The resting on the arm scene was line for line exactly what went through my fiancé’s head the first time we attempted it.
I loved this show so much. Its one of those few in the early relationship anime list. This is basically "Happily Ever After" the anime. Only way it could have been better is if it was animated by Kyoani.
I think she's an angel literally and here's why she states multiple unbelievably detailed facts about events that happened 1,036 years ago as if she was there to witness it she also talks about deities as if she knew them personally she specifically states in one of the episodes "gods can be more gracious than you think" as if it was a fact set in stone obviously multiple indicators of her being an actual angel
The reason most anime end as soon as the characters start their relationship is because it completely changes the dynamic. You no longer have an end goal to work towards, you have a status quo to maintain. It's like when you beat the game and enter free roam, the drama is over and there's nothing left to do. It's the same reason that when early villains become allies they usually become more boring to watch, their role in the story has concluded and they have nothing left to actually do.
Young lovers learning about showing their feelings and bodies to each other! Learning about giving of themselves for the happiness of the other! Nasa-kun's "junk", however had been seen prior to Tsukasa, his wife seeing it!
Really lovely, really sweet, and really funny. A special anime, can't say I've seen anything quite like it before. And thanks for making the vids Arkada, I love everything you've made so far.
The series is really good, we definitely need more anime where couples actually do more than holding hands, i want to see some married couples and such. Also, "Adachi to Shimamura" was really good too in 2020, why not put it on the list! And "Sing "Yesterday" for Me" was also pretty good for different reasons!
I read the manga first, and fell completely in love with it. And even tho I liked the anime as well it, it has some problems of conveying the characters, because of the voice actors voices (English dub, go blame someone else). There were just a lot of scenes which felt a lot cuter in the manga, when compared to anime. This just shows that the media a story takes place in is very crucial to how good it works.
Lol my grandparents got married in their very early twenties after knowing each other for a month and they are married more than 50 years and had 5 daughters
It’s always shocking to me when you have a couple who’ve been together for so long after only knowing each other for a little. I had a teacher who married her husband after only knowing him for a few weeks and now they’ve been married for decades. And apparently they’re still lovey dovey given how fondly she spoke of him. It’s pretty cute.
But there’s drama and the plot explains why Tsukasa married him as the story progresses. Also at the beginning of the manga said that it’s a story (reference) to Kaguya-hime so is not really a secret. The references and cameos to other series are just the cherry on top. The best part of the show is Nasa & Tsukasa and their moments together. Too much sugar and wholesome. Certified frosty? Absolutely. Great video.
Plus, drama does get introduced later in the series, though not in the form you would expect. But this is not a drawback of the series, even though GR's argument may make you think it is.

So glad you reviewed this, it was such a ray of sunlight in 2020. Also Tsukasa is best girl undisputed and the OP would be the best if it wasn't for Jujutsu Kaisen.
@@anzetamine I haven't said anything, though. I literally just said "are you sure about that" to GR's assessment. That's it. Then I added a clarification so people don't think I'm talking about the Tonikaku anime.
TY I'm now 100% at peace in mind what this show is instead of being my deep analytical self waiting for the gotcha aha revelation. Just about halfway in relaxed that stance and really begun to enjoy seeing like other friends. Ackman's razor the simplest answer is likeliest. Or something like that. While short I'm ok if it gets more or not as the package is good. Cheers!
There's one other anime I've watched that was a good 2020 romance, even if it wasn't quite as good as Tonikawa. Adachi and Shimamura. It's very slow though; 12 episodes and Shimamura had just started to get the idea that she might want to be more than friends with Adachi (although Adachi realised it much much earlier, but is too self conscious to say that to Shimamura)
nice to hear of a good wholesome romance without drama yes that is not realistic but that has to do with people not being honest with others and especially themselves it's not like it isn't possible it is just very hard under most circumstances so if you want a romance like this just be honest with the person you like and also be kind because that will always be attractive
I kind of hated how much of the show revolved around buying things. Buying a bed, buying a TV, buying clothes, buying rings, buying food, buying a new house. And when the characters know so little about each other, it's like that's all their marriage is.

I see Tsukasa chan. I instantly click. One of the best catchy openings. Romance anime with relationship progress: Bunny girl senpai and Oregairu. (Very early and don't know what to type)

I will follow up on this feeling in the future, but for now I would like to know where you got the amazing life like Fullmetal Alchemist poster in the Background of your Nichijou Review video that was posted three- no four years ago now. Thanks in advance (hopefully)
0:51 OMG, I think they might actually find the One Piece in 5 years... This show reminds me of I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying. They're already together & despite being so different, they are gonna stay together & they love the fuck out of each other. Good stuff.
This show is so stupidly sweet, and it's a bizarre breath of fresh air to not have the same drag of small misunderstandings setting the ENTIRE relationship back for our lord and subjugator, Status Quo. If I had to compare it to anything, it would definitely be Wotakoi - which is high praise for me, since that's easily one of my favorites. The relationships have HAPPENED, and they want to make it work while still asking themselves why they're staying. Similarily, both series conflicts leading to reaffirmed commitment, a growing sense of trust, and a better understanding within the relationship is just... not something you see a lot in anime. That's part of how the best relationships work, whether familial, romantic, or platonic: inner conflict arises, and you sort it out together. Tonikawa is just the candy coated edition of this kind of story. What I really enjoy, though, is how that building of trust lends itself to natural character and story evolution. For examplr Nasa can't unlearn that Tsukasa is an (ironically) down to earth girl that will always choose simple sentimentality over flashy, expensive shows of wealth. He KNOWS that now, and failing to act on that would be intentional ignorance on his part. To maintain the stakes, they *have* to continue working to understand and cooperate with one another. Tonikawa certainly hasn't been the most technically impressive anime to come out recently. It does make me feel good in a way many other stories just can't, though. It's kind of like the mom's casserole recipe of anime: it's simple yet undeniably wholesome, and you'll have more appreciation for it the older you get.
I'm surprised you didn't go over that the first episode of this and Hayate the Combat Butler are very similar, like i was watching it and getting deja vu and had to look up who made them and was not surprised they were the same person.
I absolutely loved this show 🥰 Thx for not dumping on Nasa like all the haters. What he lacks in character he makes up for in integrity & dedication, and i appreciate that ☺️ Would have liked the OP to have gotten a nod in the awards too (pretty sure it was Best OTY for me), but we all know Easy Breezy is gonna win that anyway 😄
Ah nice, was wondering if I wanna watch or nah but now i will. Hayate doesn't stand up by today's likings of me, but I do expect this one to be much better than that
So within one month, I've discovered and fell in love with 2 animes/mangas: KanoKari (Rent a Girlfriend) and ToniKawa It's funny when I think about it now, they're literally on the opposite ends of the spectrum. In Tonikawa, the MCs confess and get married in episode 1. In Kanokari, after 212 chapters (as of time of writing), SPOILER ALERT, do not read more if you don't want spoilers: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The MCs aren't even officially together yet LOL

So glad you reviewed this, it was such a ray of sunlight in 2020. Also Tsukasa is best girl undisputed and the OP would be the best if it wasn't for Jujutsu Kaisen.
Good to see your latest vid, Akada, it's been a while (hope I spelt your name right).
Yes review Hayate the Combat Butler Arkada!
11:36 wait.. WHAT???
SPOILERS:
"A show about characters not getting together" ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT.
Edit: Read Love is War manga. Just do it.
@@anzetamine I mean... It's a minor thing...
Cheers!
"Lets jam" [OP plays]
Never has your catchphrase been more appropriate.
I wholeheartedly agree with all these points.
"Bad stuff happened after that" understatement of the mid 2000's
"Get the DeLorean we gotta hit 88 miles an hour again!!"
It is so wholesome and heart warming
I'm glad you didn't burn this show to the ground
nice to hear of a good wholesome romance without drama yes that is not realistic but that has to do with people not being honest with others and especially themselves it's not like it isn't possible it is just very hard under most circumstances so if you want a romance like this just be honest with the person you like and also be kind because that will always be attractive
I kind of hated how much of the show revolved around buying things. Buying a bed, buying a TV, buying clothes, buying rings, buying food, buying a new house. And when the characters know so little about each other, it's like that's all their marriage is.
Imagine tonikawa as a pure cake without any topings, frostings etc. it's just a straight up cute romance
My favorite romance series for autumn 2020. Favorite for winter 2021 is Horimiya.
Such a nice and cute show to look foward to each week
Haven't been following your channel for a while but what happened to the "certified frosty" ratings? They were awesome
Generally he has one or two events every year that lets his subscriber base choose what he covers for like 5-10 videos. Which is where most of his frosties come from now.
Outside of that he now does first reactions to seasonal anime that he never comes back too.
I love the OP of Tonikawa
Moon is this princess kagura are we going to get moon parents?
Kinda sad the manga is ending this Sunday D';
Probably my favourite Romance series...
I love your reviews! If I were to make a review about this anime I would only manage to say: it’s cute and funny I recommend it
This anime is my guilty pleasure. And I don't even like romance at all. Also I might have a slight crush on Tsukasa. Please don't judge me.
I've read the manga .... just gonna say it's good through and through and you guys should 100% look forward to the comming seaon(s). The manga has kind of both ended and not ... it has a climactic conclusion that the author as called "the end" but he also indends to give us more of this adorable couple which I'm looking forward to like all hell
The Manga hasn't really ended, part 1 has. Like how Rosario Vampire had Capu 1 and 2
@@Geostelar4920 depends on how you look at it. The author really did intend to end it there, then said we might get a few more chapters and it ended up being a whole lot more chapters (you need to keep in mind this comment was made 5 months ago when we were not sure how many extra chapters we were gonna get)
@@doc8125 I honestly don't think he did though. I think it was intended to be a long continuation from the start because we had a decent ammount of plot threads unresolved and left dangling by the author. The new house and a cetain someone appearing for a few.
@@Geostelar4920 he did state that it was supposed to be the end chapter. He might've intended to originally have it later on to have time to tie up some threads but it really was going to be the conclusion. Anyway, the point of my original comment was to say that the manga had a natural conclusion that would (at least to me) be a satisfying ending to the anime assuming it does not get a thrid season
one of best anime and BEST romance anime ever, I want season 2 and was trying to find something this good but no other anime holds to it
I see Tsukasa chan.
I instantly click.
One of the best catchy openings.
Romance anime with relationship progress:
Bunny girl senpai and Oregairu.
(Very early and don't know what to type)
I've seen a few snippets of the show and it seems interesting. Your review gave me a sense of 'Okay I may have to check this out' kind of vibes.
Good stuff.
Hey hey hey hey hey hey hey.
I love kayuga-sama
The only ting I don't like about this show is the intro. I'm not epileptic, but that's show intro makes me look away every time it plays.
First comment I saw when I scrolled down in order to avoid the inro lmao.
You are right, it feels uneasy to the eyes
I'm surprised you didn't go over that the first episode of this and Hayate the Combat Butler are very similar, like i was watching it and getting deja vu and had to look up who made them and was not surprised they were the same person.
I like that they got together got married fast asf
"i dare someone to find a romance that comes together like this"

I absolutely loved this show 🥰 Thx for not dumping on Nasa like all the haters. What he lacks in character he makes up for in integrity & dedication, and i appreciate that ☺️ Would have liked the OP to have gotten a nod in the awards too (pretty sure it was Best OTY for me), but we all know Easy Breezy is gonna win that anyway 😄
This anime is so based. we need a season 2!
Villainess BREAKS BOUNDARIES, FIGHT ME!
Ah nice, was wondering if I wanna watch or nah but now i will. Hayate doesn't stand up by today's likings of me, but I do expect this one to be much better than that
4:17 is that... is that a danganronpa reference? Is that chiaki and Hajime???
So within one month, I've discovered and fell in love with 2 animes/mangas: KanoKari (Rent a Girlfriend) and ToniKawa
It's funny when I think about it now, they're literally on the opposite ends of the spectrum. In Tonikawa, the MCs confess and get married in episode 1. In Kanokari, after 212 chapters (as of time of writing), SPOILER ALERT, do not read more if you don't want spoilers:
