- Welcome to the 4th episode of a new series, where I travel around official photo spots of Grand Tour of Switzerland. In this episode, we will visit the Einsiedeln Abbey, the most important pilgrimage place in Switzerland. Abbey has been the major resting point on the Way of St. James for centuries. In the monastery complex, you can find a large library with more than 230 thousand books.
Grand Tour of Switzerland is the best alpine road trip in the world, which will take you on a 1600 km long scenic road, from lakes surrounded by palms, across amazing mountain passes, glaciers to rustic mountain villages. You will visit the most beautiful places in Switzerland. There are officially 55+ photo spots along the trip, marked with an iconic stand.

Thanks! 😀 One of those magical lights moments... When I started with the drone in the fog near abbey, I didn't know how high the fog will be... Once I saw the imagery on the screen, I was really overwhelmed... One of the best times filming outside.
At the end, the sunrise morning timelapse, I was invited by older lady to come inside their house to warm up and was offered the coffee. Being inside, in the warm, while camera was taking pictures 😀
Ahhh, it really was gorgeous that morning! The mist and the morning light add some special atmosphere to the shoots of the abbey. Felt like I'm watching scenes from some historical movie! I absolutely love it!
Thanks a lot for your kind words, Urška! It was amazing morning... The sunrise 🌅 together with the fog 😶🌫️, it was like from a fairy tale... When I started to fly up at the abbey, I didn't know how high will the fog be... But once I got above it and saw the towers outside the fog, I was really happy... I had to cut down the shots a lot, but once (when) I will be doing some slow, relaxing video, I have at least 5 minutes of shots of abbey in the morning sun :)))
BTW: tomorrow morning should be a colourful sunrise in Luzern... The forecast for the red sky is at 75%.

This time I flew around the abbey without the filters as I had no idea what I should expect light wise.
I went to the area, which is 25 minutes drive from our home, few times on the different times of the day, morning, evening, and sunny afternoon, to see and catch it in the different light conditions, but as you can imagine sunrise and the fog was the ultimate combination :))
BTW: I probably mentioned it before - I started to use SkyFire App, on iOS available as a part of the great Photo Emphemeris app (photoephemeris.com/en) and it helps me predict quality of light on sunrise and sunset. You will even receive the notification for your favorite locations! Plus Photo Emphemeris has 3d version of their app as well (photoephemeris.com/en/ios/tpe-3d), which allows you to scout lights/shadows on the terrain for a particular place and time. So I know when the sun will hit particular area or when it will get over the mountains... It's a paid app (and SkyFire is even subscription), but it helps a ton, especially here in the mountains and valleys.

But when I saw the picture on the screen, I was really happy 😀

Thanks so much for your comment 🤩👍🏻 The fog at the abbey was really a piece of incredible luck... I had a few shots from an earlier visit, on a sunny morning and it's not comparable... In the end, it's all about the light, isn't it? 💡
I found personally time-lapses an area, which I'd like to learn more about, and do them more often.
It's a very nice companion to the videos and while you are flying, the camera is recording peacefully images without the assistance :) ⏱📷
BTW: I do not know if I already told you, but I'm using the Sky Fire app, www.skyfireapp.com/, for the prediction of how red/colourful will be sunrise or sunset. It's a paid app, but it works surprisingly well. I started to use it ~2 weeks ago, and so far 4 out of 4 predictions were spot on.

Díky moc, Jendo 🤩 Nu, byla to hodně velká klika, že byla mlha u spodní části kláštera a nahoře u věží už ne... 😶🌫️⛪️ Zespodu to zřejmé nebylo, ale když jsem začal stoupat, měl jsem neuvěřitelnou radost z toho, co jsem na tom displeji viděl. A tak jsem potom létal, dokud nedošla baterka...
Jinak vím, že je to trochu pomalejší video s delším začátkem, ale k tomu klášteru se mi to pomalejší tempo líbilo... Ten 💨 přechod mám moc v oblibě 😀

Glad you enjoyed it, Bart! 😀 The timelapse was a special moment for me... I was filming in front of the apartment house (there is really a place with such a view from the house - imagine!), older lady saw me standing in the snow and invited me for a coffee inside. So I was drinking coffee in the warmth of the house, while timelapse was recoding outside...

@@bartsmeets-vids For the timelapse I used a camera borrowed from a friend, standing on the tripod… I try to follow the drone rules and this will be really wild 😂

Thanks so much, Christian, you're very kind... 😀This beautiful place is only 25 minutes drive from our home, so I had a chance to go there on several occasions, when the light was promising and capture different moods.... But two moments were truly breathtaking for me... The fog around the church: when I started I didn't know I will see anything above and when I got up and broke through the fog, I was overwhelmed by what I saw on the display... The second moment was the the timelapse at the end. I was standing in the morning in front of one of the houses, setup my camera and suddenly I heard the voice behind me... And an amazing older lady invited me inside for a coffee. So while the camera on the tripod was collecting the scenery before sunrise, I was listening to the great stories and drinking hot coffee ☕
BTW: the music behind is from Scott Buckley, an amazing composer who does a lot of creative commons music.
@@JaroslavBengl I've used Scott Buckley's music many times. A lot of my b roll time lapses are accidental like yours was! I use my dash cam while I'm parked or driving to the location.

Děkuji moc, Petře, za pochvalu 😊 Toto místo je jen kousek, asi 25 minut, od nás... A tak když byla dobrá předpověď, vyrazil jsem brzy ráno s droníkem a stativem na výlet. Dvakrát mne překvapila mlha 😶🌫️, co by se dala krájet, a musel jsem vyrazit na trochu jiné místo než jsem měl na ranní natáčení vyhlédnuté. Ale naposledy to světlo moc přálo a mám z těch záběrů velkou radost...

Awesome! Do you use ND filters for you videos or do you set the Mini 2 in auto? Anyway, looks amazing!
Thanks so much for your kind words! 🤩👍🏻 I almost always fly with ND filter, my favorite, most commonly used one is ND32/CPL from Freewell. Also I prefer to use manual mode to avoid shifts in the exposure based on light of the scene, images are then more consistent light-wise. And, the same is for white balance - all my shots are done with manual temperature set to 5500K. I like when the colors are more warm in the golden hour and more cold in the blue hour, similar to how we see them...
