PF The Wall is my favorite rock album. I didn't know that any of the guitar parts were not played by David Gilmour. You learn something every day! Thank you for this revelation! 👍👍👍

Lee Ritenour is mentioned in the interview above. He played the rhythm guitar on 'One of My Turns' because in Gilmour's own word's, 'I couldn't think of anything!'

One of my favourites from the Wall, I even spent a tremendous time to learn playing it on the guitar. It has a fantastic atmosphere and mood. Thanks.

I remember Tom's "mystery song" livestream where the song was "Is there anybody out there" almost a year ago. Great stream! Then you released the interview a couple days later. Thank you for this abridged version detailing the genesis of the song! Interesting that the classical arpeggiation was the first track and everything else way layered over it! Favorite quote "..he and David Gilmour and I sat down....and we constructed the whole thing..." Awesome.. Best regards.

Did "clicks" exist in the late 70's? This was a great conversation Tom. More videos like this would be great.

I got to meet Bob Ezrin about a decade ago and he was super nice and all I could think to say was “you produced my favorite Deftones album!”

    5:07 Waters being Waters...

DiBlasi is an instrumentalist on that song not a songwriter. Waters wrote the music and David couldn't get the timing correct so they asked DiBlasi to play it, much like Have a Cigar when they asked Roy Harper to sing it, he and Roy didn't get royalties or writing credits for their contribution and rightfully so.

@@anycolouryoulike8567 He's saying Roger didn't write it, so how do you figure Roger is the writer?

    • @anycolouryoulike8567

@@sgg17003 Why the fuck would he write and compose a whole song himself and then just hand it over to the band without asking for royalties or a writing credit? Roger's argument makes more sense.

Here is that demo and it certainly seems the _very_ basic structure was indeed Roger and clearly Joe then created a truly beautiful piece from that ( I cannot believe Roger would have recorded this afterwards ) : th-cam.com/video/dw2EHYMcl8w/w-d-xo.html

That was rhe first thing I learnt (by ear) on the guitar. 1989, I think.

    Utma gumma.
    Several small species...
That part with the house fly; the slamming screen door (I vaguely remember) but that was the first Pink Floyd I ever heard.
I remember my sister said you paid money for that?

_____________________You can't get a copyright strike for playing the song on the guitar. No more than you can get one for humming the melody!

I did when I tried to teach this song on TH-cam. I just chose to not monetize it.

The basic guitar parts are on the original demos. Even Rogers from 1978.

_Is There Anybody Out There_ has been one of my favourite things to play for the past thirty years or so. I had NO IDEA that Gilmour did not play it! Great story. And yeah, shame about Roger Waters.

Typical Roger trying to take all the credit. King of the Narcissist's. They reckon it was Dave Gilmour playing most of the Bass parts on PF album's because it was better than Rogers efforts.
