Johan Cruijff reinvented modern football. the Dutch played 'Total Football', which means that players changed position and formation during the match. Before that, players remained in a position where they were assigned for the entire match. Johan Cruijff perfected this playing style Johan Cruijff had made Ajax and Barcelona big clubs. He also humiliated the Spanish dictator Franco by winning 5-0 in Madrid. He named his son Jordy which was forbidden by Franco. Saint Jordy is the patron saint of Catalonia. However, Johan was of Dutch nationality and could name his son whatever he wanted. Due to the big wins over Real Madrid, the Catalans took to the streets to celebrate, but were sometimes beaten down by the Spanish riot police. Keep in mind that FC Barcelona was a mediocre club at the time and Johan Cruijff became their hero. Not only in sports but also politically. Johan never spoke verbally about politics, he did that with his feet. Johan had a philosophy that clubs should train their own youth players and train them in an attacking formation. Play attractive and coordinated football. His philosophy ensures that Ajax has the best youth academy in Europe and earn hundreds of millions euro annually by selling these youth players to top clubs. When Johan Cruijf died, both Ajax and Barcelona wanted their stadiums to be renamed after him. Eventually the Ajax stadium was called Johan Cruijf Arena and the second stadium of FC Barcelona Estadi Johan Cruyff.

Calling Cruyff a legend is an understatement
As a Spurs fan, I agree it’s a crappy move that Google Earth haven’t updated their model of it. It’s like they’re waiting to sponsor it or something…
Great to see the Westfalenstadion riding high. Love seeing the old grounds evolve and not need to be torn down and rebuilt
As for San Siro, their new Cathedral will be beautiful (although an example of building a new ground- you could do a vid on upcoming new stadia, eg new San Siro, Roma, Everton…)
My friend, Benfica stadium opened in 2003, and Arsenals in 2006, kinda hard that Benfica copied it. But I think they were done by the same architect, so Arsenal didn't copy either, the same guy just did a similar one.
I understand the architects that did the Tottenham Hotspur stadium design strived to make it the best stadium in the world with loads of small unique details included.
Nice to see so many great stadiums. Now to the next Continent!
STADIUM FETISH HATH BEEN SATISFIED
How did Benfica (Estádio da Luz) copy the design if Estadio da Luz was inaugurated in 2003 and the Emirates was in 2006 😂
these put the nfl stadiums to shame! we need more of the open air and covered seating ones!
Nah, nfl stadiums like Mercedes-Benz and Allegiant are the best ever.
Cruyff is considered to be one of the most influential people in football/soccer history. He was Ajex and Barcelona, he was the best player in Dutch history. The dude literally created the Barcelona style when he was there. He's more than Lambaeu, or Lombardi, or Paul Brown. Cruyff wasn't just a legend, he changed the whole damn game
Love to see one of these for Australia
I was wondering when you were gonna cover European Stadiums
Anfield should have been on here, 53k capacity with a brand new main stand, work currently being done on another extension. Legendary stadium to say the least, if you're a fan of football you know about Anfield.
Da Luz stadium was open before The Emirates
7:44 WWE was just at Principality Stadium for their Clash At The Castle event
St. James park in Newcastle is a bad ass stadium that definitely should’ve made the list.
stadium of light is better
Estadio da Luz was build before the Arsenal stadium, in 2003, its a copy, but the other way around
STADIUM PRON FOR THE WIN. YOU KNOW WHAT WE LIKE, FIVE POINTS
Cool to learn about these, only heard of Wembley stadium before.
Even though Turkey is Europe/Asia, for an impressive stadium, you have to check out “Bursa Timsah Arena” 🐊 Also Anfield is incredible for atmosphere
On the Athletico Madrid stadium u made a mistake saying it got renovated, Its a whole new stadium their old one got demolished and was in a different area.
That's not correct. Their new stadium is a renovation of an existing one built by the Community of Madrid.
I’m Welsh and quite frankly I feel personally attacked 😂😂
I appreciate that you put the aviva on the list but croke park probably would have been a better fit. Still great video
Westfalenstadion is the best in Europe. Nothing comes close to the atmosphere
San Mames stadium impresses me the most
How did you leave off twickenham??????
I really hate benfica, but as a portuguese i can't stand the "estadio da luz copied and pasted". Estadio da luz finished construction in 2003 (and it was used in the 2004 euros). Emirates stadium finished contruction in 2006.
*reads the title of the video*
LFG!!!!!!!!!!
U can get a Lego set for the camp nou too. I have it 😂
Pronunciation of the legend that is Cruyff is correct
I cant believe that there is no Puskas Arena. But I think that they are still building it on a Maps :D
Great Content
San siro is by far my favorite one. I want to see that one before they tear it down.
No mention of O Moore Park Portlaoise?
The track was removed from the Etihad when it was converted in 2003.
That stadium and Wells looks like the Alamodome
You also have to crdit Tottenham Hotspur for their bold design choice to make the top of their stadium look like a goddamn toilet seat, which is just perfect for the shitty football they play week in and week out.
