Hello D2 Team,
Please make sure when it comes time to invest your wax pattern that you use the Formula 1 investment according to the manufacturer's directions:
One full packet of 100 g. powder per 22 ml of the Whip Mix Special Liquid Concentrate
Over the years, the powder/liquid ratio has changed with the different casting metals and investments we have used. This is the correct ratio for the metal we are using this year. Vacuum mix for a full 120 seconds.
Once the investment has been allowed to bench set for 30 to 45 min., then 1) remove the investment from the plastic investment ring, 2) carefully grind 1 to 2 mm of investment material from the top end of the investment on the model trimmer, 3) scribe your initials into this same end of the investment, and 4) insert the investment into a zip lock bag along with a moist paper towel, seal the bag, and then put in a safe place until the night before your scheduled time to cast.
The day before your scheduled time to cast, turn in your investment to Larry Borgeson, then arrive at the 2nd-floor lab 5 minutes before your scheduled time to cast.
