    Thank you for doing such a thorough side-by-side! There were so many differences I was not aware of.

      I'm glad I could help! There were so many differences that I had no idea about! I really thought they were exactly the same except for the end of the barrel having a ring and removable cap to push the piston. I forgot there was an ink window, and I didn't know about the other differences at all!

    Nice video. I enjoyed the comparison and seeing the differences. I had no idea they would be that different.

      I didn’t either! I expected the only difference to be the piston end of the pen. I had even forgotten about the ink window!

    Thank you so much for this video. I am really drawn to the piston filler version of this pen. They are both gorgeous, but I love how much ink the piston filler holds (2.11 ml, according to Goulet), the ease of filling, and the lovely ink window! I have a big birthday coming up, and would love one of these!

      I think this would be a fabulous birthday pen! Esterbrook did an excellent job with this one, in my opinion. Though I haven’t tried to clean it yet…

      @@gingerpeachy at your encouragement, the new piston pen was ordered, arrived, been examined, and it’s gorgeous. Then my hubby, who thought it was exceptionally elegant, has put it away in the safe until my birthday!

    Hiii. Can you consider doing a video of cleaning / re-inking the button fill Estie? I just got one and for the life of me I can’t figure out how to get the ink out of it! It also will start running dry and I’m wondering if I need to do something with the button like a vacuum fill pen to get the ink into the feed… but I think that shouldn’t be necessary. I’m struggling. 😅 There are no videos I can find on this topic!

      Hi! Thanks for the video suggestion. I won’t be making it immediately - but the way I’ve cleaned mine is by pushing the button down over the sink to expel any ink. Then stick the nib in clean water and draw it up. Push that ink out down the drain, and repeat, filling with clean water and pushing it back out over and over. It may take a bunch of times, but you should start seeing the color become clear through the ink window! Once it’s running clear, gently place the nib on a paper towel to draw out any remaining water/ink from the feed. You may end up rinsing again, but it should be pretty clean at that point! Does this make sense?

    Hi Sarah, what an interesting comparison. I bought the standard version of this pen, my first Estie with a fine nib but the push button is quite intriguing. Very happy with the one I have though.

    Great comparison! Have you decided which one you enjoy more and for what reasons?

      Thank you! They are both currently inked and I am enjoying both of them. But if I had to keep just one, it would be the push button filler. The weight is so nice, and I really like the grip section!

      @@gingerpeachy Thanks! That was helpful. This might be my first Estie pen and I wanted to know if the push filler's extra price made sense ❤I am going to the SF pen show next week, and will definitely give this a try.

    Thank you for the comparison. And the clarification for me about the Button Filler. I thought there was an ink sac inside. Which is why I never considered getting one of those Esties. But I still think I would have taken the regular Estie with converter. I find them easier to clean. And I am very proud of myself that I did not get one although I find it very pretty.😊

      I have a push-button filler from a local maker. It will be the only one for ease of cleaning. Converters are easier to clean and replace if/when they eventually wear out.

    • @gingerpeachy
      @gingerpeachy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @yuklimka7251 You are right about the ease of cleaning! I think what I like about the push button pen is the weight and feel it has due to the filling system and the slightly different shape. But I won’t be buying many of them!

  • @tslara1
    @tslara1 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Now that you have both for a while which version do you prefer?

    • @gingerpeachy
      @gingerpeachy  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This is a hard question. I have kept both! I like the “feel” of the push-button better. The weight is nice, and I like the grip section. But the regular cartridge/converter is easier to clean! I am not rushing out to buy more push button Esties - I’d rather save the extra few dollars and the cleaning hassle and go for regular Esties, unless it’s something really special! I hope that’s helpful!
