@@ethanebang8902flares will mimic the heat signature of a jet engine, and thats how heat seeking missiles are fooled. With semi active radar missiles, they usually dont get fooled by chaff unless the missile has a pulse seekerhead. If the missile has a CW seekerhead, you need to both chaff and notch the missile for it to be fooled and lose lock, otherwise the missile will still hit you even though the radar is locking onto the chaff

Pulse doppler radars use the doppler effect to detect moving targets but if you fly at 90 degrees to the radar the pulse doppler radar cant see you moving and filters you out as ground clutter. Adding chaff means the radar thinks you disappeared and then sees a similar sized radar signature appear where you were and tries to lock the chaff.
i LOVE the yak-141, it has everything it needs to, from its radar to its armament through its flight performance, i mean... The radar is good, it has 170° horizontal angle, you can nearly notch while maintaining lock, it has a very good IR tracker, combined with HMD it's gorgeous, let's not talk about how crazy you can get with the R27's and the insane acceleration. It can dogfight basically anything in the game,.. I LOVE THAT THING

Just a friendly remind that this thing didn't carry the R-60M, it carried the R-73. Now that the R-73 exists in War Thunder, there's a (very small) probability that the Yak-141 will receive them in place of the R-60M, but it might see an uptier from 12.0 to 12.3, or even 12.7, if it does receive them.
Forgot to mention that this was my first top tier jet in the Russia tech tree, and possibly my most favorite one out of all of them. I bought a talisman for it when they were 50% off last year and used it to grind for the MiG-21SMT and 21bis, MiG-29 and 29SMT, the Su-27, and recently the Su-25SM3. Probably the best top tier Russian jet to start out with in my opinion. The only downsides I can think of are that this jet bleeds speed in turns like a MiG-21 (but your engine is so goated with the sauce that you can get your speed back fairly quickly), and the gun is extremely off center compared to the other Russian top tier jets.
