  • Fragile:
Sometimes it happens to me that I enjoy playing with little light or in complete darkness... or even closing my eyes completely. I suppose that over time, more than living off music, we need music to live... and within that sensory healing, one creates an intimate and personal space where time seems to stand still.
In those moments of deep connection with the instrument, external barriers fade away and new forms of expression and communication open up. Music, in its delicacy and subtlety, becomes a channel of dialogue between the performer and their own soul.
In this state of musical introspection, emotions become more palpable and words seem insufficient to describe what is experienced. Fragility is present in the vulnerability of exposing oneself through music, allowing the deepest feelings to emerge without fear of external judgment. It is in this conversation of the soul where aspects of our humanity are revealed, perhaps the most fragile ones, as they expose our most authentic and sensitive essence.
Music, once again, offers a fertile ground for exploring our fragility and the possibility of a more intimate and genuine communication. That profound connection with the piano establishes a silent complicity between a self that performs and another self that seems to help understand oneself through music.
And it is in this sacred space of music where fragility reveals itself as a powerful force that enables a conversation of the soul, where words fade away and emotions are expressed in a purer and more vulnerable manner.
    Patch notes:
As often happens in eurorack, it all started with a test to pass the time. A piano melody that I recorded on the morphagene... and then started to evolve thanks to the modulation… as I used to record the whole process and when I listened to it the next day, I felt I needed to play piano over it…. So I dim the lights and play along... and that was pretty much it.
P.S: The OP-1 is visible in the frame because I happened to have it there while I was recording, without thinking that I would like the result. 🤷‍♂️
I reject any accusations of putting it there just for show 😇(I really dislike it when people put equipment on camera just to flaunt what they have).

the look (colour) of the first shot reminds me of Made From Memories.......this is really glorious...........the ultimate electro/acoustic blend (Yeah, I know it's technically an electronic sample of an acoustic piano)....................love that flowing, suspended vibe over top (and underneath) of the more detailed, complex, improv.......nice to hear a bit of 6/8 in the improv......not so common on YT...............great visual selection...........the whole piece is mesmerizing.............

      Thank you very much, Will!
It was truly an intimate and personal moment, and thanks to always trying to record whenever I find time to play, I was able to see it again. However, it was a moment in dim light.
The piano sound is indeed a sample, but I have to say that the Yamaha engineers have done an extraordinary job programming it, allowing me to play the CP88 with its wooden triple-sensor keys. But that already great sound completely changes when you run it through a hardware compressor like the modern version of the classic 1176 created by Wesaudio... That particular setting, combined with this type of melancholic and profound piano, gives it the final fullness that helps me stay for hours just silently listening without disturbing anyone if it's not the appropriate time.
And as you described, it's a mix of tensions, variations, textures, and improvisations in a dialogue between my own piano sampled and continuously modified first verse by the eurorack, while I try to respond with new melodies to that unexpected dialogue.
I'm really honored that you liked it Will.

Yes, it's really nice to have that ability to be creating with headphones, for sure.....not to mention portability. I used to work in a studio where the old UA 1176 was a big part of almost every signal chain....killer........I generally get some time to do my improv every day (even if I don't record and upload them), but sometimes, like now, when the garden is so demanding, it can be hard to find time for sessions...........finding balance in life......a massive undertaking............glad to be able to sit and listen to your awesome output................

A wonderful (if more than a little melancholic) piece. You've got me wondering to what extent my pieces are expressions of genuine emotion. Most of my pieces are simply the playful application of the tools at my disposal, heavily edited after the fact. More thinking on this is required, I think...

Thank you very much for your kind words, my friend. In my humble opinion, I have long focused on buying, maintaining, or selling machines in their contribution to the process of creating the music I love to make. In other words, I see machines as a painter sees their brushes or paints... I know there are equipment that catches the eye and is inherently attractive (I'm a victim of it many times), but it requires an exercise of honesty and... if they don't resonate with you, it's difficult to connect with what you want to express in an honest way. I believe that this process of reflection and experimentation is extremely important in defining the equipment in the studio.
