So I've watched this video about 20 times, I've taken notes and studied until I felt like I memorized the entire video. And it's unbelievable to me that there are videos out there that try to teach options and they're 15-20 minutes long. After this video and then seeing other videos, I realized there is no way I would fully understand what the other videos are trying to explain. There is so much left out in those shorter videos. So thanks for this video. You put a lot of effort into it and it shows. It's really helped jump start my journey into trading and I feel really confident.

Just finished the video after 3 days and cant thank you enough. I learned more from this video than i did from watching hours upon hours of other videos and reading online. You broke everything down so nicely in easy to digest form. Usually I don't have the attention span to make it through long videos without becoming disinterested but this video kept me engaged throughout the whole thing and by the end I was left wanting more lol.

@InTheMoney It's taking me a little more to wrap my head around the concept of puts. What are you buying when you purchase puts? Are you buying the contract of 100 shares then selling them immediately at strike price then hoping the price drops so when you buy back the 100 shares it covers the initial contract premium (and hopefully some profit) then give back the shares you borrowed? Who would keep those 100 shares? Would I keep them or would the contract be written as, "If I am unable to sell and buy back those 100 shares before expiration day the contract seller gets back the 100 shares plus the premium paid" . What happens if you sell the shares but cant buy them back for some unknown reason (although I think its impossible). Are buying calls and puts just loans? Letting us use someone else's shares for a timeframe and once time is up they get back their shares? If so, at what prices would the sellers be getting their shares back? Would they be getting them back at their original strike price or at some new price?
Once I found this video, I committed myself to learning the material. First time I tried, was with selling 3 Covered Calls (go AMC), and I made $120 by the time I woke up. This channel has the clearest tutorials of anyone on TH-cam. Thank you for changing my life.

I like that, he goes right into it. And doesn't do a lot of talking about how great he is. I have been trading for a few years on and off and want to start full time now, and this was a wonderful video with so much knowledge all in 1 spot. You are a great teacher. Thank you for taking the time to make this content!
Great explanation on why you would not want to exercise an option vs selling the option instead. If you exercise, you get only the intrinsic value, if you sell the option, you get both the intrinsic and extrinsic value. I have another reason why I would have to exercise a strike price: If I wanted to go long on multiple stocks, options allow me to not miss out on growth spikes that are happening around the same time for different stock symbols if my money is currently tied up somewhere else. By buying multiple options at a single time, this allows you to invest in multiple stocks at the same time even if the majority of your money is still tied up somewhere else (like in a savings account, ETF or index fund). For example, SOFI IPO is releasing this week and Coinbase IPO is happening on the same day and I expect substantial growth before the money can settle into my account. I could immediately buy option contracts for SOFI and also buy up option contracts for Coinbase at the same time, this will hold my lower exercise prices until my funds settle into my brokerage account. l can exercise later at the lower strike prices for both companies and not miss out on the gains when they both sky-rocket in price. If both companies do very well and their share prices multiply exponentially and hold, I will have stakes in both companies while using less funds to do so. This would make sense financially if the companies had substantial growth that outweighed the cost of contracts for both companies and my plan was to go long in both companies.
Knowledge is power! These concepts should be taught in high school along with basic civics. I wish I had been exposed to these concepts when I was in hs!
Question - you said in your video that breakeven is the strike price plus the premium paid. In your example you used $5.oo as the premium. Was this the actual total amount of premium or was it premium for only one stock (for example, not yet multiplied by 100)???? Was the premium really $5.00 or $500 ??

ONE SUGGESTION THOUGH, RATHER THAN USING INTRINSIC/EXTRINSIC, IT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER TO DIFFERENTIATE BY USING "I" VALUE AND "E" VALUE. I talk fast as well and "in" and "en" are much harder to discern than "I" and "E"...Just a thought.

Did you mean we don't want to buy when IV is HIGH because these options will have inflated prices???????? I'm not sure how to understand your answer..... otherwise, your material has been most helpful to me as I now sell covered calls to supplement my dividends. HERE, volume and volatility don't seem to matter as I just wait hoping the calls expire worthless. Cheers

Strategy is the key element to of a long term successful stock and forex trading. The problem is that most traders/ investors just want a strategy that works , whereas they forgot the need for consistency or perseverance . You can keep making wins at the beginning for a period of time and later you start making losses towards the end of the trading period or even half way . Janet Lee Tracy has been the woman a lot of people are looking for and her strategy has been of great benefit to me . You’ll understand the importance of consistency with wins as regards trading online .. trading on your own might not be suitable especially with less knowledge. I really appreciate it and can’t help but let others know about it .

The lesson I learnt was that the best approach to trading is by using an already proven strategy and I’m really happy I met and trade with her management

@@michaeldevlin1122 she charges 10% of the gains she makes. she employs a subset of Algorithmic trading similar to the etoro style. Surprisingly this approach is a lot safer since I did not hand over any funds. My account only mirrors her trades in real time.

Your channel has been a big help to me. Options, especially selling puts, is a good strategy to building a stock portfolio. If someone exercises and you end up owning 100 shares of a stock you don't want anymore.... you can always sell it for market or start selling calls and implement the wheel strategy. Love the channel, keep doing what you are doing.

First of all this for this scenario to take place your underlying stock volatility should be quite high , which would in turn contribute to your extrinsic value and and also intrinsic value assuming that the volatility has worked in your direction , now if you excersise your contract before expiry , you are making a great profit , but these type of scenarios are quite rare and don't usually happen, most likely when you hold an OTM contract , the wise option would be to trade it before expiration, so that atleast you reap out some extrinsic value and not lose all your premium when you excersise it at expiry.
I had to break this video up over a couple of segments, but everything in it was extremely valuable. I actually understand what I’m seeing on an options page now! I’ll be sure to follow up on this comment with a success story if I have one. I simply wanted to say thank you for your hard work putting this together!

Today is Sep 17th 21 when that call option would have reached expiration. MSFT is at 304. Shouldn't have closed out of that call. :)

Just finished the video after 3 days and cant thank you enough. I learned more from this video than i did from watching hours upon hours of other videos and reading online. You broke everything down so nicely in easy to digest form. Usually I don't have the attention span to make it through long videos without becoming disinterested but this video kept me engaged throughout the whole thing and by the end I was left wanting more lol.

@InTheMoney It's taking me a little more to wrap my head around the concept of puts. What are you buying when you purchase puts? Are you buying the contract of 100 shares then selling them immediately at strike price then hoping the price drops so when you buy back the 100 shares it covers the initial contract premium (and hopefully some profit) then give back the shares you borrowed? Who would keep those 100 shares? Would I keep them or would the contract be written as, "If I am unable to sell and buy back those 100 shares before expiration day the contract seller gets back the 100 shares plus the premium paid" . What happens if you sell the shares but cant buy them back for some unknown reason (although I think its impossible). Are buying calls and puts just loans? Letting us use someone else's shares for a timeframe and once time is up they get back their shares? If so, at what prices would the sellers be getting their shares back? Would they be getting them back at their original strike price or at some new price?

I just stumble across this video. Adam is really great! My son is named Adam. I admit, I don't understand most of it. He talks fast. I need to do further home work. I like that, he goes right into it. And doesn't do a lot of talking about how great he is. Great explanation on why you would not want to exercise an option vs selling the option instead. If you exercise, you get only the intrinsic value, if you sell the option, you get both the intrinsic and extrinsic value. I have another reason why I would have to exercise a strike price:
If I wanted to go long on multiple stocks, options allow me to not miss out on growth spikes that are happening around the same time for different stock symbols if my money is currently tied up somewhere else. By buying multiple options at a single time, this allows you to invest in multiple stocks at the same time even if the majority of your money is still tied up somewhere else (like in a savings account, ETF or index fund). For example, SOFI IPO is releasing this week and Coinbase IPO is happening on the same day and I expect substantial growth before the money can settle into my account. I could immediately buy option contracts for SOFI and also buy up option contracts for Coinbase at the same time, this will hold my lower exercise prices until my funds settle into my brokerage account. l can exercise later at the lower strike prices for both companies and not miss out on the gains when they both sky-rocket in price. If both companies do very well and their share prices multiply exponentially and hold, I will have stakes in both companies while using less funds to do so. This would make sense financially if the companies had substantial growth that outweighed the cost of contracts for both companies and my plan was to go long in both companies.

Question - you said in your video that breakeven is the strike price plus the premium paid. In your example you used $5.oo as the premium. Was this the actual total amount of premium or was it premium for only one stock (for example, not yet multiplied by 100)???? Was the premium really $5.00 or $500 ??

Strategy is the key element to of a long term successful stock and forex trading. The problem is that most traders/ investors just want a strategy that works , whereas they forgot the need for consistency or perseverance . You can keep making wins at the beginning for a period of time and later you start making losses towards the end of the trading period or even half way . Janet Lee Tracy has been the woman a lot of people are looking for and her strategy has been of great benefit to me . You’ll understand the importance of consistency with wins as regards trading online .. trading on your own might not be suitable especially with less knowledge. I really appreciate it and can’t help but let others know about it .

Your channel has been a big help to me. Options, especially selling puts, is a good strategy to building a stock portfolio. If someone exercises and you end up owning 100 shares of a stock you don't want anymore.... you can always sell it for market or start selling calls and implement the wheel strategy. Love the channel, keep doing what you are doing.

One question, what happens if you hold the OTM Option and it ends up ITM before expiration, would that then give me intrinsic value??
First of all this for this scenario to take place your underlying stock volatility should be quite high , which would in turn contribute to your extrinsic value and and also intrinsic value assuming that the volatility has worked in your direction , now if you excersise your contract before expiry , you are making a great profit , but these type of scenarios are quite rare and don't usually happen, most likely when you hold an OTM contract , the wise option would be to trade it before expiration, so that atleast you reap out some extrinsic value and not lose all your premium when you excersise it at expiry.
