    How many "successful" traders can actually show us their equity curve performance over (at least) a 12-month period?

    wonderful insights that Adrian presented. I particularly enjoyed the fact that a sensible time frame can be achieved and relating that to potential lost income by procrastinating for years

    Question. How do you know the difference between a strategy losing its edge vs being on the wrong side of probabilities when coming down to being in drawdown?

    • @EnlightenedStockTrading
      @EnlightenedStockTrading ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question Isaiah - This is quite complex, but what it comes down to is a system's 'normal' behaviour vs abnormal behaviour. When a system is having a drawdown that is within the range of the previous drawdowns on a 30 year backtest then there is usually nothing to worry about. However if you are monitoring all of the system statistics and there is something that has decayed out of the range of the historical backtest then you need to look more closely.
      You can monitor trade level statistics like the size of winners and the size of losses... the % winners... the number of signals per day or week... the number of losses in a row etc. If these are trending down over some time then you may have an issue with system decay.

      @Enlightened Stock Trading appreciate this, it has been on my mind a long time also but I am still just developing and testing, it's nice to have an answer so I am not tempted to rush in and find out for myself.

    10:20 kinda disagree here but just based on my own experience. I think a strategy whose goal is too broad is at a very high risk of over fitting and flopping when it's gametime
