- In this The Sims 4 tutorial I explain how to build a glass pool. I did not use any CC for this and only used Base Game & City Living. You don't need any other packs to follow this beginner friendly tutorial. Create your own realistic looking glass pools and let your Sims take a swim!

Love your tutorials! I found this fence end-piece in debug which is just a thin vertical plank more or less and has some color options (black, white and a mossy green and something else) and doesn't cause texture fighting when merged into eachother. This object is like made for those pool corners. 😁 I believe it is basegame and appears kinda late in the scroll in debug menu.

So I'm trying to follow step by step but when I go to apply this foundation to the pool I'm getting an error "Cannot use Stilt Foundations for Pools." Is this a new error with today's update? Are we still able to do this and I'm missing something?

Alex De la Loire I’m not alone that’s me watching builds because I stay wondering where they find half the furniture and windows I be seeing. ( mainly I only have two stuff packs so I’m broke and have to deal with wack stuff)

Tbh they should really make glass pools and round pools a actual thing in the game :/
Yeah but so should cars, the ability to change lot sizes, apply textures to anything, spiral stairs, CLEAR windows, and many other previous abilities we have so sadly lost.
@@wiseowl1580 I agree with everything but cars. Why does everyone want cars?😅 Also, i know sims team has been unfair and lazy for some time, but i also know all of these are much more harder to make work in sims 4. Still wish they actually listened to what we want...

You can also use shift while placing the foundation, it applies the foundation to that single side, it might work
I just tried it, generally it works but when the invisible foundation is right next to another one (On one line basically) it doesn't work and you have to use the workaround! :)
Damnit, I was so excited to do this but I don’t have City Living.
Good news: It was added to the base game in a patch a while after I made this video. Same method but you don't need any packs, yay!

Thank you for this!! Wanted to share in case anyone else was in the same boat that I don’t have city living but the grey looking foundation called ‘simple foundation’ did the same thing for me! It doesn’t have a pack symbol on it but I have get famous, island, seasons ☺️☺️
This is what works for ps4 so thank you! I couldn't find the foundation she was using so I thought I wasn't going to be able to make my glass pool
This was great! Here's my notes: if you fence off the pool or the flooring you can change the foundation by itself without the tricks because foundation is changed by rooms. And the shelf acts like that because it's been pointed away from the wall, so it's basically freeplacing

I have never been one for building in the Sims, always been one for rushing my builds and playing with my sims, but over the last few days I've really gotten into building and your channel has really encouraged me to explore different things, from landscaping and using cheats to modify my builds, have to say I am creating some of my best ever builds and really enjoying it! I'm on XBox, so have come across a few differences which have been a little challenging to work out, but with some great resources online, I've managed to find solutions! Thank you so much 💚

that invisible foundation is soooo nice, i use it on windows to make it look like they're opened to the outside. looks so good on sulani builds!!

if you press alt or shift (i dont remember which) when changing foundation, it just changes that section! also works with wall trim-- it'll just add wall trim to one wall at a time. im pretty sure it's shift....
It doesn't work when the foundation is directly next to the translucent one though, it still changes the whole side in this case. But usually it works great! :)

I would love to have a room in the house that looks like a big fish tank. I figured out that you can place a pool on the second story of a building, then surround the walls with tall glass windows. Since I don't have City Living, that is as close as I can get to having a sweet indoor pool/tank. So there's something people can try
This is CRAZY! I don't know how you find all these amazing hacks in the game!
Just a note, especially if you're playing with the base game only, you can go down one level from the pool (basement) and put pillars in for the corners of the pool. And if you don't want to build a deck around it, you can press and hold Shift while placing foundation to apply it to just one side at a time. That way, you can put walls (foundation) on the three (or however many) sides you want to, and only use the invisible placeholder foundation on the side you actually want it.
Not sure if this was in the video and I just missed it, which could be, but I had to build an empty room first and then build the pool in it or else I got the error message that Stilt Foundations can't be applied to pools.

You can also hold the Shift key when applying foundation texture. That only applies it to one side (or segment) at a time.
When I try this the foundation looks the same as yours, however it comes up looking like drywall instead of clear :(

I would have never guessed to look in the hidden objects for a clear foundation "wallpaper" - so so cool! and thanks for also showing tricks for every eventuality :D
I play vanilla base game, but achieved a glass-walled pool by setting windows into the sides of the pool. Any of the full height window options will do the job - it's not one single long pane of glass, but in the real world it wouldn't be, anyway.
They're a great novelty light well for basement rooms.
A couple of months after that video this foundation was added to the base game so you can now build this exact pool with base game only :)

but now you dont need city living to make the pool transparent anymore cause i have done this a few times and i only have base game
Just thought you might want to know, if you encase the top of your pool in a fence so it creates a room you can change any of the foundations without it affecting the pool foundation, You can then remove the fence after you are done :)

That's a very good trick but it's not working when the normal foundation is right next to the translucent one. It still tries to color the whole thing. :)

Yes, the Sims are visible inside the pool it's just like glass! :) This type of pool only works on ground level because you can not use foundation on any other level! :)

Hii, I love your videos! I was wondering if anyone could help me with the cheats on Mac because I can’t get them to work, I open the cheat console, use the testing cheats and it does say it works but when I try to input any cheat it does nothing.

the thing that i am struggling whit is building the roofs in sims 4 they always look so failed...
If you press shift when placing foundation paints, it will color only one face of foundation, not the entire room block
I know but not when the pool is on the same side as the rest of the foundation, I talk about this issue in my updated version of this pool (The base game version) and show the issue! :) Thank you for your comment!

Great tutorial!But I have an advice that I don't know if it will work, have you try to press the Shift botton (or Control botton, I can't remember right now) while your are painting the foundations? it will only paint a segment of the foundation!^^

I 1000% can not build the pool above ground like you are doing. I typed in the cheats you mentioned and the pool still builds down rather than up.
How come you didn't just use a regular column? Do they jump on top of the foundation?

I was wondering if anyone could help me on this. I am not able to place a roof on rooms. It says ‘cannot place in enclosed room’,and if there is no room there it just falls to the ground. I have taken off my cc and mods and it still will not work. Please help!
Does it happen on any lot and with any build or only in specific cases? Did you try using the room tool and not just the wall tool? Sounds like a glitch to me. One option is always to repair the game in Origin.

Lol, I simply place completely plain windows from the base game to the whole pool and it looks amazing!
Definitely looks amazing but it's a different look. :) I like both, when I build a base game house it's a good option.

I can’t add pool in the platform :( it shows a warning that pool can’t be build on top of the platform :( anyone know why ?
Pools can't be added to platforns, they didn't include this feature. Pools can only be added to foundations, that's what I am using in the video :)
Thanks for sharing! Is there any way that you know of to apply the transparent foundation color while the pool is on the second or third floor? Doesn't look like there is a way to do this?
im wondering can you put a small octagonal pool just on the corners without it connecting. like its a smaller pool within a pool? i cant for the life of me figure out how.

Curious question, what happens if you apply a stilt foundation to a pool? I think it would just simply not work, it wouldn't let you do it.

You connect it to a foundation so it's on one level with the foundation in the back so your Sim can use a ladder or get it without one. :)
Any idea how to change the pool sides opposite the viewing angle from opaque to translucent?

Anyone else on ps4 having an issue with the pool trim after making their walls invisible? There's no way for me to remove the very visible trim piece so it sticks out so bad.
