- I was having problems getting the Chauvet Obey 40 to work with my SlimPar 64 uplights. These tips will hopefully show you how to get them to work together properly.

You’ve added the pieces to the fixture programming that I’ve tried to figure out for hours. Thank you for your help !!!✌️
We were having problems with getting the PAR Light working. This video solved our issue. Thank you so much for you your efforts to put together this trouble shooting video. God Bless
OMG!!!!!
THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU !!! THANK YOU!!! You my friend, just saved me from throwing my lights out into the street and calling Chauvet and making as @ss out of myself!
I have been batting this for the past 2 hours. With the exception of the polarity switch, every other thing you described I had to correct..
You're a genius man!!
Best Regards,
John
This was a life saver. Thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH. IVE BEEN WO KING ON MY LIGHTS FOR SO LONG. This video was perfect and very informative. Thanks again
Thanks Man! You resolved all of my issues!
This worked for me! Thank you do much
This really helped me to connect my Slim Par 56.
This information is not on the manual
very helpful, thank you for posting!
Life saver!
I'm using some old par cans with dip switches and the obey 40. After addressing correctly, the lights are not reacting to the controller correctly. When I have ch. 7 up as the fader and channel 1, I don't get RED, instead I get a dull white wash, i.e all the RGB LEDS are on. Any advice?
Thank you!
Why are all the same style lights not on the same channel 1 ?
Seems odd or at most 2 channels, channels 1 to 16 fixture 1 and then fixture 2 you can do 17 to 33
Why does fixture 3 need to be "terminated"? Thanks.
I meant the last fixture (I put a little note up there to correct it), not fixture 3.
I'm still trying to get mine to work! I've watched so many videos, and yes, this one helped, but they still won't come on. I have the Obey40 controller and master/slave 4 Mega Par Profile Plus fixtures. I did all the addressing and channel mode and such. Sometimes I can get the 1st fixture to actually work with the controller, and then it just stops. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. When I do get the first fixture to work I try and see if the others will and sadly no. I've checked and rechecked the cables but all of them seem to be correct. Any suggestions?
Using the Chauvet 40. Can you use both the 56 & 64 lights as a combo?
awesome tutorial rally helped.. Im havimg a problem where my last fixture with ther terminator is unresponsive... im running 5 of the slim par 64 and the first 4 work great the 5th not working i disconnect the terminator and it responds plug it back in and it stops working.. any advice?
+Christopher Headcase - If it works well without the terminator, just don't use the terminator. It isn't required to be there. If not, then try the following:
+ Make sure your cables are DMX, not XLR. They are a different type of cable and XLR can cause issues.
+ Double check all the settings on the fixture to make sure they are correct
+ You may have a bad terminator, do you have another to test with?
+ Swap out # 5 with another fixture (remember to update channels accordingly.) to make sure it's not a bad fixture.
Good luck!
I too am wondering why fixture 3 is to have the terminator. Why not the last fixture in the chain? Thanks.
I meant the last fixture (I put a little note up there to correct it), not fixture 3.
Cool! Thanks Rus!
Rus
Thank you for the video. You are awesome.
Question: the cable length that you are using to daisy chain your fixtures. Are they 5ft?
Reason i ask, if for the fact that when i go to plug in my 8th light it begins to make the other lights go FN nuts. Some lights work and some go into a different color. I talked to sweetwater where i purchase the lights and they are not to smart in the DMX world. Talked to Chauvet and they told me it was the obey 3. Ordered the obey 40 and the same issues occurred. I'm at a stand still. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Rick.
I think the are the 6ft cables. It's been a while since I hooked them up. I am looking at going all wireless so I can have more placement options and less "spaghetti" behind the lights.
