Thanks, for the demo, appreciated. Not convinced the fader is doing Its job. Had an older version 6 plus years ago, and it wouldn't fade either. All my fixtures are chauvet... I also find the speed fader inconsistent. Stepping back to for some fresh air. Will do some dead simple chases with just floods to confirm my suspicions. Also tried the tap button... same thing not seeing a clear connection with timing for the chases... it appears simple enough.
+geko7844 Oh yeah - that's right. In that case, recording chases just gives you more options/the ability to have your movement on stage be something different.
I've had this Obey 40 for about 4-5 years and could never figure out Chase mode... thank you thank you thank you! IS there a way to quickly go from Scenes to a Chase, back to a Scene? I'm running 18 SlimPar56, 2 Scorpion Lazers, and 3 Luxida Motion lights. Trying to get the most bang!
you prolly dont give a shit but does any of you know a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
Yes, if all the scenes are in the same bank. Use the "Midi / Auto" button to engage auto changing of scenes. The "Time" & "Fade" faders will adjust speed and transition time. Some fixtures will scroll through colors and gobos if you set the fade time too slow. Best to decide if you want slow transitions before recording the scenes so the "scrolling" won't ruin your scenes.
Same process - the Obey 40 sees all channels the same way. If your lights has X/Y on channels 2/3, then just move those channels to where you need, and follow the process to record the scene.
It's a bit complicated, but you can find the instructions on Page 28 of the manual: www.chauvetdj.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Obey_40_UM_Rev7_ML5_WO-1.pdf
I believe you can - though I've never done it myself. See page 31 of the manual here: www.chauvetdj.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Obey_40_UM_Rev7_ML5_WO-1.pdf
I have a chauvet obey 70 and I was wondering if I can create a chase like the one I saw someone doing it by using chauvet ShowExpress. What I mean is if I connect my par light to my obey 70 and daisy chain other par lights can I program my obey 70 to have this effect of one light chasing another? here is the link so you can see what I am trying to accomplish on my obey 70 if possible th-cam.com/video/xw-SZ8VPCmI/w-d-xo.html
Yes, you can create it, but it will be much more difficult. Chases on the Obey 40 are created from scenes, so you'll just need to create 1 scene for each "step" (all lights, minus one), and combine them into a chase. Thanks!

Awesome video, well explained ✌👌
How you delete chases ?
What are the advantages of setting up a chase sequence, as opposed to just running though the 8 scenes you have programmed?
+geko7844 Saves your fingers :) ...but as you are probably aware, it may not be perfectly to the beat like manually pressing the buttons would be.
+Learn Stage Lighting .com But you can set the scenes to automatically run through (1-8) by simply pressing auto, or pressing the music button.

Can you fade between scenes and fade to black?
No, that's a big problem with controllers like this one. Here's what I recommend instead: www.learnstagelighting.com/first-lighting-console/
Can I fade between scenes without using chase?
No
@@LearnStageLighting thank you

How do you record x/y into scenes/chases not just RGB?

you press midi add twice before adding the other scenes into the chase, that's an important step.
That's what I thought as well, but he didn't do that.
