I liked him because he was so funny. I'm sad he died so abruptly, though. But Hux has so much comedic potential. The whole emotionless evil general is more wasteful imo
Hux could be a perfect main villian in SW sequels. With his abusive childhood - just perfect, a little bit complex character. But in Disney they obviously don't have any good plan for these movies so ...
@@87aga87 I'm pretty sure Disney never considered making Hux's background as an abused child a theme. It's not their thing. I hoped Hux would've taken an even more important role as a thorn in Ren's side, but I think this movie just had too many other characters whose roles were even more important to develop further, Poe and Finn being two of them. There's never much time left for the bad guys usually. Just look at the original trilogy that had zero background info as to Vader and the Emperor. Literally, everything was left to the imagination of the audience. At least here, they've managed to make Hux's personality pretty clear, his hatred toward Ren, for example, giving him motivations and depth, unlike his military predecessors serving the Empire, who were mere functions of the story (someone had to push the buttons on the Death Star).
I think they really did him dirty. Honestly, as a fan of the first two movies in this trilogy, they did the whole thing pretty dirty. It felt like it was trying to pander to fans who WEREN'T fans of those movies, but were the ones complaining about how different they were. Don't do that - this didn't make them suddenly care!
Master Markus I mean in the first place he was going to be a pure awful character. Like side character (I just love Domhnall in all the movies I’ve seen with him so this is no different) TROS has lots of holes in the story
I don't really think he was good, I think he did it out of selfish reasons. Kylo was the only one between him and becoming a Supreme Leader (until they added a Fuckton of useless officers), so getting rid of him (even if he had to call the resistance out) was the easiest way of getting his ultimate goal.
Lucy Iero yes yes very true. I mean he was an awful character but to be honest so was Ben when he was kylo, he murdered planets and tons of people alongside hux. I mean it pissed me off that they killed Ben off but I just unnaturally liked the character hux because I love the performance of Domhnall.
I want General Armitage Hux prequel (or something like that). We got one really good comic book, now it's time for movie or short mini-series. EDIT Disney I'm pointing my comment at you! You literally owe this to Star Wars fans. And to Domhnall, who is a fantastic actor. After this all bunch of bullshit that you have called "Rise of Skywalker".
Didn't Richard also play Doctor Simeon in Doctor Who? imo General Pryde had great potential as the main villain with Hux as sidekick, I hope they are starred in a pre-sequel movie
These guys are great and I wish they got to be part of a better film, especially Domnhall whose role was kind of unduly small in this series. But really, I say the former for most of the actors. For context, I really liked the previous two movies, so I wasn't one of those bitter, toxic fans, I'm just disappointed that it feels like changes were made FOR those bitter fans, who, essentially weren't really fans of the sequel series in the first place.
@WontonAxel Absolutely. And really, if you take all the transmedia stuff (i.e. books and comics) together, Hux is actually a really interesting villain who absolutely DESERVED. I don't know what would've been ideal, but ... not this, and it makes me sad because it's not like it HAD to be bad, it's absolutely squandered potential and not a character or movie doomed to fail.
Master Markus My exact same feeling for TROS. Lots of potential but ruined because JJ retconned everything that TLJ built. It is like a pissing match between Johnson and JJ and what happened is that the film suffered, including great character arcs. Oh well.
Rian basically admitted that he destroyed Hux because, as he said "russian bots forced him to keep Hux alive", and then JJ just went with it like an idiot
Very very disspointed hux is my favourite charater and actor. The last jedi make funny of him. Rise of skywalker he is spy. I was like wtf then kill off so quick. His death is embarrassing. Sorry for my bad English
a 5 hour movie of Richard E. Grant and Domhnall Gleeson being interviewed - that's what I need for Christmas
"I love you... I know" Priceless.... Mr Gleeson never disappoints!
Everyone who wants a General Hux spin off movie/tv show say red head!
Red head! 🌹

@@andreasanchez3557 good to meet another Huxley fan!😁
Read head
should have cast Richard E Grant . as Thrawn
his character is also pretty cool
I love how the two of them seem to get along so well. Especially since Pryde kills Hux in the movie. Maybe they could work together again sometime.
dammmmmmmn spoilers
they were together in About Time, funny scene, there are even memes about it
@@wiezyczkowata I didn't know that. Neat!
Gleeson’s character was wasted and reduced to comic relief.

TLJ set up something quite sinister with Hux that
went nowhere.
OK. Thanks JJ and CT I hate it.
@@PolarPhantom Exactly, I agree !!
it hurt me more when Hux died than kylo Ren... Hux so happened to be good and then got killed. Hux is a wonderful character to me.

Two greatest villains in the Star Wars Saga!!!.

Lol: Everyone with British are bad guys in Star Wars. The galactic empire/ imperial fleet/ first order/ sith.
Paul Page Adam Driver is American.
Domhnall Gleeson is Irish
Robert E Grant is African
Ones Irish tho
Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Anthony Daniels... *cough*
