    I have a 2001 American standard strat. I love it, but I always wished it had a fatter neck for better hold and support. This guitar feels like it answered a lot of people's "wants" in a strat. I will always favor the 60's 7.25 neck profile though. That thing is pure heaven. Good job fender! I now feel like my standard strat has an antique vibe to it which is a nice feeling.

    I know it's all personal, but I've been playing both Standards and Professional for a couple years now, and there's really not a lot of difference in them. I do prefer the Fat50's over the V-mods, although both are typically versatile pickups.

    Gotta justify the jump in price somehow. I get the impression that Fender is also trying to significantly reduce its inventory (using up existing bodies and fewer colors). Check out the new Tele (looks like a Mexican body and parts).

    Great review. The neck feels a little different butt otherwise it feels and sounds pretty similar. I'm not sure I could tell blindfolded whether I was playing last year's standard or this year's professional.

    American special is more of a real US standard these days. More similar to the first standards from 1987.

    • @thenumber2356
      @thenumber2356 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrSiddhardta how so?

    • @MrSiddhardta
      @MrSiddhardta 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheNumber23 The satin finish maple neck also on front. Modern c fast neck profile. Same tuners as the first US standards. More of a "no nonsense strat".

    • @thenumber2356
      @thenumber2356 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrSiddhardta Do you prefer them over the modern ones?

    • @MrSiddhardta
      @MrSiddhardta 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheNumber23 Yes! A retro strat look with smart modern features. Put some favorite pickups in it.

      MrSiddhardta Nice! Whats your favorite pickup?

  • @davidmusselwhite547
    @davidmusselwhite547 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I didn't like the new strats. The pickups do not sound good and the tall frets makes it sound out of tune because I play hard. So I sent mine back

  • @robertkrykant4591
    @robertkrykant4591 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    It’s 2021 and the tuning stability on the Stratocaster is awful, across the whole range, locking tuners don’t help much either, unacceptable.

    • @turlockhammer3872
      @turlockhammer3872 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am thinking about buying one soon, its the only model fender in olive. Are you saying it will not stay in tune? Thanks

    • @robertkrykant4591
      @robertkrykant4591 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Turlock Hammer - make sure before you buy any Stratocaster that you play it, bend the strings, use the tremolo arm (vibrato) if it isn’t fitted ask for for it. Take a tuner with you if you can. The first few times it goes out of tune the staff might say its new strings don’t fall for that one. If it doesn’t stay in tune in store it won’t stay in tune at home or gigging unless you have it ‘repaired’ by a tech, but you shouldn’t have to do that. Play it first is crucial. I’m looking to buy a Strat, I’ve had them before and I’m not going to end up with another that’s unreliable. Good luck, let me know how you get on, all the best

      My 2003 American strat never ever goes out of tune.I can go two weeks without touching it,or play it for an hour and all is well.
