- Adam talks to Seth MacFarlane one on one about his new jazz album, ‘Blue Skies’ and the 3rd season of ‘The Orville’ premiering tomorrow on Hulu. Seth explains how ‘Family Guy’ was brought back from the dead after cancellation because of DVD sales, working with Norm Macdonald on ‘The Orville’ for one of his final appearances, and how he got started in animation. They compare bad reviews they received from the same critic and relive some of Seth’s legendary Christmas parties.

Seth said that Norm was making fun of Jury Duty on Conan...He meant to say Chairman of the Board, the joke being that Norm called it "Chairman of the Bored."
Yes, he was mocking her for doing a movie with Carrot Top, who has mapped out a pretty good Vegas career.

I thought maybe there was a lost Conan interview I missed where he's making fun of Pauly Shore. But yeah, Seth is misremembering or just slipped. I know we've all had those Pullman/Paxton mix-ups.
Norm said he later felt bad for bullying Carrot Top, Carrot Top played that clip in honor of Norm when he passed, and Courtney said she felt relief when Norm took over the interview because she didn't want to promote the movie, and Conan loved the whole bit. So no hard feelings on anyone's part.

Do we all just catch Seth MacFarlane attempting to sound cool or sound like he was a fan of Norm by not remembering anything about a clip he claims he could watch once a day for the rest of his life where he gets all of the details about it completely wrong?
First of all the movie was called chairman of the board. Pauly shore had nothing to do with it, not sure where he got jury duty. She wasn't even in that movie. The movie was chairman of the board with carrot top, not polish or. Hopefully he at least remembers the punchline but it sounds like he doesn't because the punchline is literally the name of the movie spelled b o r e d but he thinks it's called jury duty, what does he think the joke was jury duty spelled D o o t i e? If he does what does any of that have to do with Courtney Thorne-Smith because she's not in that movie lol.
Come on seth. If you were actually a fan of that clip and think it's funny he would at least know the movie and the person they are talking about. The whole premise of the bit is carrot Top is a bad actor and any movie with him called chairman of the board the board must be spelled b o r e d. Seth MacFarlane, the internet just caught you lying LOL. Can't wait for the third season of orville. Great show. Reminds me I need to catch up on my family guy as well. I think I left off back at season 14.

this was really interesting and informative to watch. I haven't watched a ton of interviews or discussions with Seth MacFarlane really, it's really neat to know that he is such a thoughtful and grounded person.
It always amazes me the extreme love and hate that Seth MacFarlane gets.
It’s like no one is neutral about him, they either adore him or think he’s a hack.

I don’t think Seth McFarland has had control of the show in that fashion. I think McFarland is basically just a hired voice since TED. He has said he has not written family guy for a long long time.

I enjoyed and identified with his early passion for animation - I spent years on that old equipment, and the hours that go into creating, is totally life consuming. GREAT INTERVIEW!

Creepy, American 11 is mentioned in one of the Frasier episodes and it only makes it super creepy that David Angell and his wife died on American 11 on 9/11.
Sometime in October 1985, I think it was. I missed a flight in Milwaukee, WI to Cincinnati, OH. I argued and fought to get on it (I was rather a dick), but I couldn't get on it. That DC9 flight nose dived straight down shortly after takeoff. I was shook up for quite a while.

The Courtney Thorne Smith / Norm interview on Conan was for "Chairman of the Board" not Jury Duty, and it was a vehicle for Carrot Top, NOT Pauly Shore.

American Dad is his best show by far. It’s usually very well-written. The opposite of Family Guy. The Cleveland Show was a little underrated, IMO.
American Dad is definitely more character driven and cohesive.

When you love what you're doing 16 hours will fly by. When I play guitar hours would just fly by and before I knew it 4 hours were gone and it's dark out and it felt like I just started 20 minutes ago. Seth had the passion👍🏻🤘🏻
