This was so incredibly helpful. It was so great you let us know when you let the paint dry and the colors and consistency of water. Not something you see in a lot of tutorials here on TH-cam. I’ve been looking for a while lol. I’ve been dying to learn now to get long fur right and now I think I have some more knowledge from this video. Thank you
you have my utmost attention. everytime i watch you paint, i am marvelled and truly inspired to keep trying. your bring such life to your work. thank you for always sharingv
Thank you - I appreciate your message! I enjoy creating the paintings and videos. I learned how to paint by watching videos on TH-cam and hope to do the same for others!
Rebecca Rhodes That is encouraging to hear. You have done amazingly well. you're so good at it. I have been learning myself how to draw graphite drawing of pets from watching videos too but would like to try watercolor painting them like how you are doing. I like your videos very much. Thank you so much for creating them and sharing.
I love the relaxing music to paint by. I'm a pet portrait artist and I paint in acrylic but now I want to try watercolor. Beautiful painting. Thanks for the video.
Hi Rebecca, I watched almost all of your tutorials. I am a pastellist but I want to learn more about watercolor. I did a few but I can do a lot better I think. Well that will be my next challenge. Thanks for charing your gift with us.
This tutorial is just Brilliant. The eyes jumped out when you painted them. I am new to watercolour, and would love to be able to paint like you. Many thanks
Wonderful video. Your attention to the details just makes him sing. The eyes tell deep, wise canines stories , lol. They’re fabulous. It would be ever so helpful to know please, how long this took you in real time and did you do it all in one sitting?
Thanks Vicky! Chica must be so cute. I'm creating a course based on this painting for my Online School at rebeccarhodes.teachable.com/ If you are interested in learning watercolors, I invite you to take a look. There's a free course on how to paint a dog's eye!
Well done. I have not done a dog portrait thus far. I've completed my sketch and now feel confident to proceed with watercolor, thanks. My little Corgi-Rat Terrier (Pongo) is trying to get through Pancreatitis right now. I love the little Fella.
Very nice! You got the attitude. I was talking to a border guard the other day. He told me he watched a pack of these little guys take down a full grown mountain lion. I believe it, too. Mine has green eyes and a pink and white nose with a white stripe on his forehead. I can't wait to try painting him. The hard part is getting him to sit still long enough for a good photo. I really enjoyed watching your video.
Excellent video. Great demo. You use a mix of yellow ochre & burnt umber but only burnt sienna is listed in your materials used below. Which was used? Bit confusing.
Hello, the colors are found in the description. In addition, this link will take you to the materials used in our school: rebeccarhodes.teachable.com/p/materials-recommended I hope this is helpful!
@@RebeccaRhodesWatercolorArtist Thanks. I did want to join but your Terms of Purchase are frightening. So pleased I read everything before buying. You sure have a lot of legally binding stuff. Decided not to join.
In addition, tube blacks tend to be very flat. By mixing darks that “read black” you get a much livelier and more realistic color that has far more depth than something out of a tube. Same goes for greens, nothing in nature can be found straight out of a tube, the mix is what gives them life.
Such a dignified little guy! You can see the dog's personality in the painting, it is that good.
Thank you Nicole - he is dignified, isn't he?
Gorgeous!! Beautiful personality in those eyes!❤️🐾
Thank you, it's all about the eyes!
Thank you!!! Hope your week is filled with blessings. 💕
Thanks back to you!

Nice!
Wonderful video. Your attention to the details just makes him sing. The eyes tell deep, wise canines stories , lol. They’re fabulous.
It would be ever so helpful to know please, how long this took you in real time and did you do it all in one sitting?
Thank you so much! In real time, this took about 6 or 7 hours, breaking it up into several days. I take lots of breaks! 🙂
i love your watercolour art, its so detailed and realistic! Thanks for sharing!

Lovely job. I liked how you wet the paper and made the underpainting.

No way! I didn't know these guys were that tough! Best wishes on your painting!
+Rebecca Rhodes Me either! Thanks again. 😊
Please do a tutorial how to draw the chihuahua 🖤

Thank you, and sorry about that. You could use Burnt Umber or Burnt Sienna.
@@RebeccaRhodesWatercolorArtistThanks so much Rebecca.

THANK YOU! This is incredibly helpful!
You are very welcome Lyn, thanks for your message!
May I ask what colours are in your pallette and what colours you would advise for painting animals please? Many thanks.

Why the ultramarine and umber?, I notice a lot of people using it, why not just use ready made black?
I find that, when using a mix of blue and brown, you can create all kinds of grays and blacks - some more brownish or bluish. Does that make sense?
In addition, tube blacks tend to be very flat. By mixing darks that “read black” you get a much livelier and more realistic color that has far more depth than something out of a tube.
Same goes for greens, nothing in nature can be found straight out of a tube, the mix is what gives them life.
I swear that little fella winked at me !
That's so funny! I'm getting ready to create this on for the Online School!
Wow ! Beautiful ! I have to try it with acrylic ! :) Good job though ! Congrats.
Thanks Octavio - give it a try with acrylic!
Just amazing thank you
Thank you Sandy!

Divino! Siempre he querido una pintura así de mi perrita que casi tiene 18 años y casualmente es una chihuahua ☺

What brand and size of brush. The hair one.
Hi Star, this is a Billy Showell Fine Tipped Brush #2. www.billyshowell.com/brushes-collection
I need help drawing him can u make a video of the drawing process plz😩 but love the video I subscribed 🤗
Hi Candy, I plan to create a video in real time at my Online School, and I'll post a drawing there. Thanks for asking!
Question what kind of tape is that that you are using for your water color paper is it artist tape?
Hi Gina, it's Lukas white gummed, water activated archival tape.
Thanks I have never tried that one before. Me and water activated tape have a love hate relationship.
I agree. It's difficult to remove. Lately, I haven't stretched the paper because I don't use a lot of water to make it necessary.
Thank you! You did it!
You are welcome! I hope you approve - it was so much fun!
❤️
Thank you!
I wish you would have included the sketch
Hello, the sketch is available in our online school at rebeccarhodesart.com.
