honestly a Sword is better then nothing, and i can see this working out pretty well because there are many people that dont like guns but wouldent mind carrying a sword.
Even if you do, the followers have no power as to grant property. That'd be like demanding an American citizen to give the united states to another nation. They just don't have that power. Also, I hope you don't plan on threatening people. Not only is it immoral and unheroic but you'd also get into trouble.
In California, you may also legally carry a blade of any length, on your belt. But even here, where people can be quite extreme, you don't see alot of swords on the streets.
Guess I can open carry a 25inch hanger/cutlass now as self defense against those who dare challenge my life. I can also express the age of sail history nerd in me by open carrying a hanger sword in Texas too, that sounds great.
You already have the individual right to keep and bear arms. Whether the politicians actually agree with that individual right is a totally different matter. The good news is that you can sue any individual who infringes upon your individual rights and there's plenty of court case precedent to substantiate those legal proceedings whether anyone likes that fact or not.
Corvus Remalius A lot of these people seem to believe freedoms need to justify themselves while restrictions on freedom can be in place by default without ever being challanged. This is the only possible way a person who believes in civilian gun ownership would raise an eyebrow to the ownership of knives.
Teri Starr I have a feeling this might turn in a direction no one anticipated. And attract the nerdiest cosplay people. Imagine someone dressed as samurai Jack, link, trunks with their swords. Just to drive the point of how stupid this law is. And It'd be pretty funny to have my near decade of fencing experience to have a practical purpose lol
I can understand the concerns. There are wackos about who may take advantage of this new Texas law. Then again, such people will brandish a weapon regardless of laws. Strict gun control and other weapon restriction laws in other states didn't stop wackos from carrying guns to shoot others, or using large bladed weapons to terrorize and injure people.
How did you come to that reasoning? "More freedom given to individuals will lead to authoritarian military control over government functions!" Also, it is spelled "martial" law.
No excuse for the mis spelling, apologies. I feel it's already an eye sore in my neighborhood to carry a weapon, as to which I already do. It's to protect my family and as a single father I feel that all this controversy of what we can have and can't, taints our laws of everything. Maybe I understood it wrong, but it'll be horrific if you can't even walk to the corner store always looking over your shoulder. I guess I misunderstood the whole concept of this law,( which I will look in to, and encourage everyone else to do the same).
again, I would do anything and everything to defend my kids and any other families that are victims, which is also what our authorities of police, etc., that we pay our taxes for are doing anyhow. Except they can't always be in places where bad things happen. regardless, bring a sword to a gun fight. That's pure 100% fact and we all know that outcome. What ever happened to unity and peace? I know what happened, it dissipitated about 20 years ago.
Haha I just realized theve been trying to set me up for a long time, that's funny. Now I'll oblige them. P.S. I'm still innocent on everything, enduced entrapped on everything and on a terrorist list and not a terrorist.
When I see a nutcase sit down to eat with his precious family and he's wearing a pistol, I ALWAYS make a big deal about it and get up and leave, or leave just as quickly as I can. What if the nut snaps??? I don't want to be around any otherwise "average Joe" who wears a gun. I'd make a scene around swords and machetes, too. In fact, I'm already loaded with jokes and comments about them and I don't even live in Texas!!!
I'm just waiting for the first CNN report showing a fight that broke out at Golden Corral with men in wranglers charging each other with swords. Will they be on horses? I guess we'd just have to wait and see.
Speaking as an average joe you would be the main target for anyone carrying a sword in light of the fact you can't just shut your mouth and go about your own business. You have to cause a scene and work others into a panic with ignorance and a brown tip nose. Be aware of your surroundings and just deal. I for one if it was all that is available would use any means including sword, machete or fork that I eat with to defend the family I work to support.
“Trying to steal my car? I challenge thee to a duel!”
AceShotz gotta carry a white glove just In case you need to smite some heathens
honestly a Sword is better then nothing, and i can see this working out pretty well because there are many people that dont like guns but wouldent mind carrying a sword.
Wow, real life skyrim

Bro thats what that guy was thinking lol. Hes trying to fight dragons in real life
Well we do need to defend ourselves from all those thousands of people who publicly run around with swords and machetes illegally, right?!
Good thinking..swords deflect bullets
TJ Michael have you seen mythbusters?
You can now carry a Bowie knife, just like the Texas hero of the same name. It just seems right.
What is next? "The only thing that can save you from a bad guy with a sword, is a good guy with a sword"?
RPG
lol yeah :)
Nukes
How about a glock 19
Or a ninja star lol

AuspicousFeet Mean same
Gun Laws may cause the return of knights and samurai in the U.S.?! The only way I could ever like gun restrictions.
spears? swords? In Walmart? In chucky Cheese?
Everything is bigger in Texas. Has anyone made that comment yet? lmao. smh.
Does that mean that I cannot walk into a mosque or synagouge, wearing my sword and armour, and demand that they return the holy land?
Even if you do, the followers have no power as to grant property. That'd be like demanding an American citizen to give the united states to another nation. They just don't have that power.

Cade Thumann I’m pretty sure he’s joking.
“Open carry a sword” oh, you mean those $30 cheap mall swords with one swing on an object it will snap right in half?
Then don’t buy those $30 cheap mall swords with one swing on on object it will snap right in half?

we going to have samurais battles in texas.. :D
What is this, The Game of Thrones. What will they do next? Legalize Sellswords, Kingslaying, and the Right of Conquest?
Karim Bennett hey that sounds interesting

So I can carry my two handed lightning infused ultra greatsword?
They just passed this in Hawaii last Monday
Now let me summon the dragonzord and we'll be golden
But can I buy the sword from berserk??? ;)
GOD BLESS TEXAS
Carrying open a large knife or sword is really common in central america, so whats the big deal with everyone being so negative about it?
Corvus Remalius A lot of these people seem to believe freedoms need to justify themselves while restrictions on freedom can be in place by default without ever being challanged.
This is the only possible way a person who believes in civilian gun ownership would raise an eyebrow to the ownership of knives.
I’m 17 can I carry my Bowie knife in public now ?
What about a balisong?
I'm confused, can you carry knifes longer than 5.5 inches in Texas?
BJ Martin as long as you aren't a minor
all those Katanas are Chinese fakes😂 I wouldn't worry about sword attacks since most people don't know how to use one or have one under $100 dollars
I'll now take my Bowie now
Anyone know what a bouy knife is? She might be trying to say Bowie, but I don't know
If you can open carry a gun no duh you can carry any knife lol 😂 just don't bring a knife to a gun fight lol
i love living in Houston💯
come january 2018 they can carry Bazooka ..
machete!
How stupid! No common sense what so ever
Dawn Crosby the only lack of common sense I see is coming from you. The people who believe there are limits to God-given rights.
Why? What's wrong with open carrying a sword?
And the time is finally here!! Bowie knife get on daddies belt were going out for a night on the town!!
Wow. Yet another reason to stay out of Texas. Wonder how tourism is doing?

And also why there not that many crimes in Texas 😀😄
Considering so many people are moving to Texas, they are doing just fine.
Most people IWB law or not.
Shows trash katana
I can open carry a Jo staff in Texas.
Crazy Texas
Where is this shop?. i need a katana
That is probably one of the most stupid and ridiculous laws to be accepted..., what's next? Marshal law? Who's ready?

@@joeanthony9162 If the sword is within 15ft from you and you don't have your gun drawn, you'rr dead meat.
Haha I just realized theve been trying to set me up for a long time, that's funny. Now I'll oblige them. P.S. I'm still innocent on everything, enduced entrapped on everything and on a terrorist list and not a terrorist.
God bleas texas

I'm sad that you will more than likely never understand how ignorant you sound.

Dumb law
Why? A sword isn’t half as dangerous as a gun.
