    Seems like a really good camera, great color and picture, didn't hear any noise on the interior shots, a lot of wind noise while outdoors though, but that's pretty standard if you're not using a dedicated mic with a windscreen.

    just bought the lx10, was considering gx7II, and rx IV. lx has 4k, better slowmotion, and other functions, sharp. advantage to canon is 24-105, but with the price of 399 for panasonic and 570 for canon, rx was 599, so no brainer really! Hope its good!

    A die hard Lumix user (GH4, Gx85), but not too stoked on the LX10 as a vlogger. Looks like a rad compact stills camera! However, the image stabilization seemed pretty shaky and no ND filter? So shutter speed seems to run high to compensate for exposure giving that jittery look.

    That morning at LowLight - maybe it compensates, but it wasn't in focus at all.
    I didn't see a blurred background - that aperture of f 1.4 should make it possible.

      The biggest downside I've seen after using it for the last few days is that it doesn't do well in the wind, but most cameras (unless you have a large external microphone with a wind screen on it) don't.
      I've ordered some small stick-on mic windscreens for this one, might make that into a video update when they show up.

  • @kennynvake4hve584

    I would guess, that plain knob on top adjust aperture and shutter, or exposure compensation, up or down...oh and I just noticed it dont have a hot shoe or viewfinder...the LX5 has a hot shoe, which you can buy a viewfinder as an accessory (300$) that slides on where the flash would go..

    Thanks for the video, Jordan. I've noticed on KIT that you've got Sony AX33 as well. How do you compare LX10 to it? And would you recommend AX53/AX33 instead of LX10?

    • @JordanKeyes
      @JordanKeyes  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The AX33/53 is a lot more flexible. It's got a 3.5mm mic jack, BOSS (steadyshot) that's ridiculously great for stabilization, and you can use it plugged in, but the LX10 is much smaller and pocketable, so it depends on your needs.

    It amazes me how we came from film cameras to this...There are so many options it is impossible to get ONE camera...I too...buy camera's but usually used ones...Cameras today do things at an unbelievable speed...Back in the film days...you sent it off and waited a week, just to get it back..and all was no good...now its instant..The mistake I made was...when you take a photo and look at it on the cameras screen, in live view, you think it dont look right..but it is fine when you put it on your computer screen..We are so spoiled with all the different cameras that are out now..I have a lumix LX5 just like your new one, but without 4k and alot of advanced options..BUT I can take very good photos with it...Most of mine are Panasonic ....and a few Canons...

    Hi Jordan, I notice that your sound was very good when you are sitting explain about the camera. When you record with the LX10 it was a bit background noice and of course when the wind blow. My questions is: is it possible to put any bette mic to the camera? I know there is no plug for it, but think it is other possibilities?

    • @JordanKeyes
      @JordanKeyes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only way to really do that would be to carry around an external recorder like the Zoom H1 or the Tascam Dr-05, start recording on the camera and audio recorder, and sync it up while you're editing. For a lot of situations, that's a ton of work

    You recommend this over the rx100? Is it wise to buy the first gen. Rx100. They are very cheap. I don't need 4K.

    • @JordanKeyes
      @JordanKeyes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first gen RX100 was great (used it for a while), but its lens is zoomed in a bit more (28mm vs 24mm on the LX10) and it doesn't have a flip-up screen.
      If you don't mind those things, it's definitely an amazing camera.

    • @jerryx2000
      @jerryx2000 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am only interested in good pics & 1080p 60Hz videos. Is the RX100 still good for that? I use the iPhone 6. It has amazing videos & 240fps slo mo.

    • @JordanKeyes
      @JordanKeyes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the RX100 works well for that. It should do higher quality photos than the iPhone, and better video quality (larger sensor, nicer lens). I don't believe the RX100 does 240fps slow mo, though.

      Jordan Keyes cool, I currently have a G7X ii but all my other cameras are Panasonic and I was thinking of swapping out the G7X for one of those to get 4K, as I'm shooting everything in 4K now and it is nice to have the small camera just stick in your pocket on a night out :-)

    • @thewalkingvloggingman7152
      @thewalkingvloggingman7152 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why? It's set up that way so the camera won't overheat, remember, this is NOT a camcorder, this camera is built mainly for pictures, but is really good for video, if it's not pushed to it's limit.

    Jordan, would you recommend this camera for beauty blogging or another camera? I might do some outdoor/social/out-and-aboyt type videos but mostly indoor controlled conditions. I like a bokeh effect too.

    • @JordanKeyes
      @JordanKeyes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and no. This camera does amazing quality video, and works really well in almost any lighting situation. The problem will be audio. If you have an external recorder, like the Zoom H1 or the Tascam DR-05, you can capture higher quality audio separately and sync it up while you're editing, but the audio from the camera just isn't amazing. It's usable, I still use it for my 2nd channel videos at th-cam.com/users/twilplays (for walking around, daily vlogging style videos).

    • @ValerieEllis
      @ValerieEllis 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jordan thank-you for responding. I would prefer at this stage to avoid the expense and hassle of separate sound recording so the sound needs to be quite well captured by the camera I choose however, it will mostly be used in controlled, indoor environments - will that suffice to eliminate the issue with the Panasonic? It seems as though the advantages of price, size and quality (4X) mitigate the sound issue with the Panasonic unless you think there is another camera that ticks all of those boxes. I have considered a second hand Canon 70D which I believe is gold standard for beauty/lifestyle vloggers.

    • @JordanKeyes
      @JordanKeyes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 70D is definitely an amazing option, but with that you're giving up 4k video (probably not a big deal), it's a much larger size, and you'll have to use an external microphone with it, because DSLR microphones are notoriously terrible.
      One of the biggest things for better quality sound is just to be closer to the microphone, so if you're sitting close to the camera, and you can be in a controlled environment, the LX10 can do a pretty decent job. My entire Snapchat Spectacles video ( th-cam.com/video/DhAnL4ER-TQ/w-d-xo.html ) was done with the LX10, no external mic, and I think it did a really decent job.

    • @RehaAlev
      @RehaAlev 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The LX10 is great in controlled situations. This being said, if you are using the camera mainly at home on a tripod, I would probably go with Panasonic G7. They are super cheap at the moment, you can use any type of lens which gives you the range you need, and you can plug-in an external microphone.

    Can you explain a little more about the F.1.4 to the higher F.? Is this automatic on the camera? (I'm starting now with video recording, I know what's aperture, I just didn't get this settings while recording).
    I don't know if I made the question that clear haha sorry.

    • @JordanKeyes
      @JordanKeyes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +GuiBiagioni aperture is the amount the lens opens. The smaller the number, the more light it lets in.
      With this camera, you can manually set the aperture in Aperture Priority mode and Manual Mode. The aperture can be set by twisting the ring on the front of the camera.

    • @JordanKeyes
      @JordanKeyes  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really depends on your budget and goals. The Sony RX100 VI is a great camera, but it's expensive.
      The GoPro Hero 7 Black is really small, significantly cheaper, and does good quality video, but doesn't have great audio and isn't great in low light.
      The DJI Osmo Pocket is tiny, can easily connect to your phone, and provides ultra stable footage, and it's reasonably priced too.
      The Canon G7X Mark II is older, and only does 1080p, but it's still a great camera for a reasonable price.
      If you're interested in going with something a bit larger, any of Sony's mirrorless cameras have amazing autofocus and work really well in low light. I'm using a Sony A6300 as my main camera right now, and getting ready to upgrade to the A6400. It's a little more expensive, but you can change lenses out depending on your situation.
      So basically.... lots of options.

      perhaps he didn't have a mark V, to compare it. Also, "better" is subjective. Rx100m5 is $1000 camera, the lx10/lx15 is $700... cost wise the lx10 is "better", but Sony has EVF & some crazy slow motion stuff... whether that matters or makes it better kinda depends on what you value.

      The LX10 definitely has some impressive video quality, and its lens is f/1.4 at the widest, so combine that with holding it in-hand, it's going to look a little more impressive than the f/1.7 lens I use in my main camera that sits another foot or two away from me.

    Are you looking at the screen on the flip screen or the lens itself?

    • @JordanKeyes
      @JordanKeyes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I normally just look at the lens, but it's nice to have the flip screen to occasionally check framing and lighting.

      Oh okay gotcha. I just got a camera with a flip screen, and anytime I look in the flip screen it's like my eyes are looking in the corner, have you ever noticed that or see that before?

    What type of editing soft ware do you use for your blog?

    • @JordanKeyes
      @JordanKeyes  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Final Cut Pro now. When this video was made, I was probably editing with iMovie, though, and I've used tons of other editing suites over the years (Adobe Premiere Elements, Sony Movie Studio, and so on)

      I find it interesting how so many expect a Mic in and a Audio out and Hot Shoe - Vlog - expect the low light performance of a Full Frame etc etc :)
      I assume you are wanting a Vlogging camera - the Lumix G80 for a little more has Mic in and of course has a larger sensor etc etc -
      It is just so much what they can put into such small bodies - and also they have to pic features that most use -
      there are probably not so many that would hook up an external mic -
      Anyone that wants pro sound would use more pro camera -
      these internal mics indoors are usable for say family videos - not great but not horrible -
      but of course any external mic equipment will be just as large as the camera :)
      so my suggestion is to get a Zoom mic and just sync audio with video in post for good sound -
