I just got the dt-830ln multimeter included in a soldering iron kit i bought on wish, and its almost IDENTICAL to this model, the only difference i could see is mine has a backlit display.
Great little multimeter!! dont be fooled by its little size! it does the job pretty well!! For an hobbist, it is a perfect little friend! There is a small pot inside for voltage calibration, if you dont like how it is calibrated by the manufacter, or if you want pretty precise measurements. PS: I drilled a hole on the back cover just above the pot, for easy calibration if needed, and to dont have to tear it down everytime. After putting back the rubber cover, it is as new :)
Great idea..too bad more multimeters were not designed with easy calibration access! I love this dmm too..small but great display 👌 and tough as nails ! Keep on Testing!
I saw ya using this in the PDM711 review and curiosity made me check it out. Wow - those stock leads must use spinach as a conductor-lol I see its $7.40 US and free shipping.
@@KeepOnTesting - Found the MS3302 clamp on ebay $14.04 and free shipping, but dont buy from "direct imports1899" as I did - it took several millenia to finally arrive ( a bit over a month), there are other sellers and its on Amazon too I thought. Im very pleased with it, its a Mastech product.
@@KeepOnTesting- Im also looking on ebay at this very obscure DY2201C cheap-ass meter for its automotive oriented ranges, even has "MS / millisecond pulse" for fuel injector testing->> just looked at it again, think im going to have to go for it. www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-Automotive-Multimeter-Engine-RPM-Voltage-Resistance-Switch-Measurement/302996248527?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908131621%26meid%3Dc771d5650c134d529d6247d07c653c43%26pid%3D100678%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D173704092665%26itm%3D302996248527&_trksid=p2481888.c100678.m3607&_trkparms=pageci%3Acf220e2d-0ef6-11e9-9ea9-74dbd1808474%7Cparentrq%3A115309071680aa468c9cf3caffedd380%7Ciid%3A1
And now I find on Amazon theres another true RMS version of the MS3302, the MS3300 - but the WH5000A it works with is true RMS so not buying another clamp-lol
I just bought that cheap-ass DY2201C automotive multimeter, (mines the four button version, other is two button /less ranges) not sure at all about this one as its so obscure - ran across it by accident and its coming from Shenzen province in china so hope I live long enough to receive it-lol Stuff from Shenzen must have to cross from the other side of the entire continent of mainland china by oxcart before even getting near a shipping port, I say that because anything I order from Shenzen takes many, many moons to arrive.
I hear ya! For me its Malaysia, I'm still waiting after 3 months for a couple of items from 2 vendors...I figure they're long gone but who knows I might still get a surprise....sigh .let us know how that cheap a$$ meter works out!
Well my 830D+ midget meter showed up today, same as you I had to toss the worthless leads and use some I had, otherwise its as good as it can be and works fine for something that cost me $7.40 and free shipping. HOWEVER - midget or not I like it better than that other larger more full featured cheap ass automotive meter I bought - the "DY2201C" that also showed up today, if you were thinking of ordering it - DON'T. It does essentially work for the most part but in the realm of todays cheap ass meters its reminiscent of designs from early 1990's cheap-ass meters and even though it "works" and has the automotive ranges I wanted including ms/fuel injector pulse reading, RPM, dwell etc. it reeks of some much older Harbor Freight designs internally that were sketchy even then in execution and in my view its definitely not worth the $29 and free shipping I paid for it. Theres at least two dozen of todays cheap ass meters that would have blown it out of the water in build quality and are much more modern designs than this one. Granted most of the newer meters would not be automotive oriented but far as build quality and such this DY2201C's design just feels behind the times if for no other reason than its manual ranging, has a ten second backlight, audible but weak continuity tester and the Ohms range only goes to 2 Megohms resistance. The lead insertion safety shutter gimmick thats designed to stop lead insertion errors works as advertised and is neat for about the first five minutes, then I just wanted to rip it out and throw it away along with its leads-lol Diving into the cheap ass multimeter barrel is a lot like Vegas - 'ya pays your money 'ya takes your chances-LOL I should have known better, this thing didnt even have a hint of a brand name, just "DY2201C" - and on the side of the box in one spot it says "Digital Capacity LCR Multimeter" - all in the same sentence-LOL In short this meters only claim to fame is for being a poster child for meters to avoid, the kind of meter to shun like a case of rabies with free shipping-LOL.
Well that's a pity about the DY32201C, I did take a peek at it some time ago but it didn't look to promising. I guess I made a wise decision. As you say the CHEAP-O Meters are a plenty and there's alot of crap but every now and again, there's a very nice meter to be found. This diminutive DT830D+ is a nice meter, small but useful. Lot's of bang here and a decent little build as well. Enjoy the meter, it's also quite rugged so no worry about long term. Damn it's cute too!
Yeah you avoided a boring meter, it works ok but its just old design inside nothing exciting just yesterdays news -- I have to say in all the meters ive bought its one of the very few disappointments in cheap-0 meters, I need to be more discriminating in choosing my cheap meters-lol. It still amazes me how easy it is to get very good accuracy in a cheap meter, its just the input protection and high build quality ya sacrifice in most cases, but then Im not using these meters on high input voltages so they serve me well. I do like the simple little midget meter though, tossed the leads and added some of the yellow $3.00 cheapies from online cleaned the tips and its got decent continuity and low ohm resistance, good little device.
Heres the only review I could find on the MS3302 amp clamp, it russian but you get a look a the device. Mine didnt come with an english manual had to print my own from online, but its ok I like the device real well. Heres the video link-> th-cam.com/video/7FYAyEcIAgY/w-d-xo.html
Cheers my friend!
Спасибо за качественный обзор!!👍👍
Wow... does it have BOTH 200 μA and the buzzer mode? Modern 830-like cheapo 7106 meters have only one of these.
Yessir! Both modes in this little 830 wonder..
Systematically high readings on ONE range? Check the voltage divider resistors (900 Ohm, 9 kOhm etc), one of them is out of spec.

It's a great lil multimeter...lucky you it has a backlight..always an added bonus.
Which soldering kit did you purchase if you don't mind my asking?

Ha-! - I also just got my MS3302 amp clamp for the WH5000A, what a nicely made piece it is-!! Works great and very well made.
