Many thanks for posting this; and many thanks to Coppell for coming to NY. We watched you from the Cathedral steps and you absolutely filled the street with music. Loudest applause I have heard for a band in my more than sixty years of St Patrick's Day Parades. Please come again.

And the ones in black and white are descended of the Bretons which are from Brittany, France who are also a Celtic peoples. So you are correct, quite a few of them AREN'T Irish, but ALL of then are Celtic.

Bagpipes are not Scottish, they are mainly associated with Scotland but there are many variants of Bagpipes all over the world and Ireland has its own Bagpipes too called uilleann pipes. But all of that is irrelevant because there are loads of instruments there that are not Irish. Its not a parade about Irish instruments.

@alatriste078 If you really want to get technical Mexicans, i.e. Native Americans are actually Asians....who crossed the Bering Strait during the last ice age from Siberia into the Americas, so....Everybody comes from somewhere else, take a good look at Native Americans then look at South East Asians, even the Japanese, and you see an obvious connection. And most Mexicans have some mixture of European blood anyway, particularly Spanish, my point is history cannot be undone, no point wallowing.

Fantastic to be Irish, but never bother going to my local parade, fill with children and drunken idiots. That happen couple of years ago, in Belfast is the most craziest place to be on paddys day, I'll tell you that for a fact.

Saint Patrick's Day is not about leprechauns and the color green and drinking and pretending to be Irish, etc. It's about the man - SAINT PATRICK. Patrick was a Catholic Christian missionary and Bishop in Ireland who converted all [or most] of Ireland to Christianity [namely the Catholic Church]. The true meaning of Saint Patrick's Day is celebration of Saint Patrick and his life. March 17th, the day he died, is when we remember him. That is the TRUE meaning of Saint Patrick's Day!

In NY we celebrate the Irish but in Ireland the Irish actually hate us Americans. It's sad come to think of it.

@kermithehomo When you say "all Irish" you don't include me or almost all my family and friends who regard Americans as welcome and are friendly to them.
