I came to Ireland, Limerick 15 years ago and I freaking love it. Love everything about this city especially the people. Stay up in highest Limerick, I love you don't care what others say 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
That was brilliant. All the images we see of Limerick in the media are so negative, it lifts the heart to see how it is portrayed in this video. I was born and bred in this city (I went to school on O'Connel Av), I work on Williams St and it can be easy to forget how special it is. Thanks for reminding me. The song was beautiful too.
Have just been told, the footage was shot by my Uncle Noel Hanley [R.I.P.] and edited by my Aunt Pat. I was wondering why the cameraman went into our front garden! It used to be called Colooney Street at the time of the Limerick boycott against the Jewish community there around 1904 and later re-named Wolfe Tone Street
At 3:11 Noel Pyper, the barman who was murdered is passing the chemist. We used to drink in his pub Larry Murphy's as a student in the Marine Radio school around the corner. Noel used to tell us to buy a drink or get out. He was probably right but we were students and had enough for a half pint. Couldn't stretch a half a pint to an hour.
looks so much like a street I used to live in Dublin. They could do the streets up with getting more green in. Trees, bushes, plants, flowers..oh and get the fences down and clean out the front garden.
My uncle Tom at age 16 left Limerick and went to Oz 1916 (during the troubles) and lived in Adelaide, never got to go home again, sad. Hope you get to visit Limerick, meet your kin and relish in its history. Thanks for viewing.
I'm due to sing the full collection JUST ANOTHER TOWN @ the Lime Tree Theatre, Limerick, on Friday 25 Oct. A great occasion for a gathering of old Limerick friends in a lovely venue, close to the street where I grew up.
I'm Gough. How are you cosin🙂 Lough Quay in Limerick city would have had Goughs. Did you ever do a family tree? I'm in the country side now, but we all came from Tipperary. Goughs are scarce. Any research I ever did led me back to Lough Quay in the city. Cheers. Tossie Gough Bilboa Cappamore Limerick 🙂
Limerick great 👍 city with Rugby 🏉 and hurling success. Its a pity it so hard to get a job. 20 yrs with a landscaper in mungret limerick. So hard to get a job in Raheen ind estate. Worked in a meat factory 🏭 in Raheen m and m walshes in the 90s. Gone since 2010 during the crash.😅😊
You might make it over for a gathering in the Lime Tree, Limerick, Pat, on 25 Oct. I'll be singing Just Another Town and 16 other songs about the homeplace in a solo concert, not too far from wolftone st

Limerick History 1850s Convictions A list of those transported to Australia during this period can be found here June 1850 The following was recorded in the Limerick Chronicle on Saturday 29 June 1850 civil business of the Court at one o'clock, directed the prisoners in custody to be arraigned, when the following pleaded guilty, and were sentenced:- John Twomey, stealing silver spoons, the property of Thomas Browning, Esq., of Crass, seven years transportation.
This was a regular occurrence where the landowner (English) would take a dislike to a local then the "spoons" would go missing and another Irishman was sent to Australia
Limerick has had its problems with crime in the past, but there is alot of renewal going on in the city and most people who visit the city would barely notice anything to do with the crime everybody is talking about...its a beutiful city by the river shannon and well worth the visit
