I'm of Maori and Irish blood,an ex gang member and father of 2 high ranking active gang members, my patch was my korowai, that I wore with love and pride. To me, it showed the world who I was,but on the Marae,I was home,so I felt I didn't need to wear my korowai, because I was with my whaanau,my tipuna.respect to all gangster's.up lift our Rangatahi.MAURI ORA
I'm from the Cree Nation in Canada, and we don't care who you're associated with. If any of our ppl die for whatever reason, our ppl stand behind the family 💕💕
Remember the kaupapa my bro (if you don't know the marae kaupapa, wouldn't be a bad idea to learn it) i understand the kaupapa to most maraes are different, but when you at my marae... Long story short, follow the kaupapa my bro
Respect Henara! All these.gang boys are lost souls on the road to nowhere - good on you for allowing the departed to be set off on his final trip in the company of his whanau, in maybe the only manner they know how to grieve for- or show respect to their fallen ...
I only see my people...and not one of my brothers and sisters wear our KOROWAI. I don't know what these labels mean...What they bring is a presence of raruraru to our people and to each other...rather a korowai to bring us together.
be hard to turn away your own people or basically anyone.. but i understand that patches and gang colours should not be worn . that is respect for the marae.. they can bark and salute at the grave but respect on the marae must be shown ..
Every where on this planet people have their own rituals as to whitch they follow when saying goodbye to their fathers,mothers,brothers,friends,etc...Even if you do not understand their ways you should respect it!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not a maori but learnt a lot of maori traditions from different maori elders. On this particular issue is a thorny issue but it should come down to the gangs respecting the rules if they don't then they should be banned. It is hard to do but it may be the only way.

"No Marae should turn away anyone" Sorry Rex I dont agree but if your not abiding that hāpu kaupapa then bugger off, you would do the same no doubt worse if the whanau members attended a Tāngi at your pad and didnt pay their respects. Why should you fellas get the green light?
aue...as a x black.....we never did this type of carry on...yup we had a quick salute and that was it...patches turned outside in...we are not some times the 1st family...
grappling..thats sad we all know how our gangster bros roll......not going to do shit just going too send the bro on his way with love 🙂dont mean no disrespect just their kaupapa ..gangstyles..2022 making changes 1love.
it is what it is..........let them come home, let them bury whanau in our urupa. i don't really care what colour you wear or if you like to howl at the moon. nobody moans when PoPo fly the colours.
LOL no thats Taranaki dialect with Wanau, Tuhoe drop the G in theirs. Instead of "Whanganui" Tuhoe pronounce it Whananui. but still spelt the same though.
Don't be ashamed of a small community of Maoris that go against the Maori culture! there is still that large community of Maoris that still value their culture, pride, mana and so on!
