His style is so raw and organic sounding, just simply amazing. I love that he’s not overdoing the gain and really squeezes every drop out of every note.
He sounds like a jazz fusion blues type player with all the regular chops you’d expect of a typical rock n roll metal guy. I love it, this dude is insanely gifted and talented. That’s honestly also one of the coolest Schecter guitars I’ve ever seen too
I am listening to thousands of guitarists weekly. Nick is the most refreshing one out there. He has a “style” which distinguishes him from the masses. Beyond great technical skills he also has the ability to compose beautiful music which many can’t. Hope he keeps doing what he is doing for many years to come.
My goodness..!!! Nick Johnston is a phenomenal guitar player. I'm beginning to think he is the most incredibly subtle and contrasting player I have ever watch perform. He can go from super touch sensitive playing to hard hitting slammed out power in just a phrase lasting only a couple of seconds. The tone he has here on the first track is new! It is mid range punch and prowess and then delicate brittle tone all harnessed like a virtuoso violinist playing harmonics. I used to think Jack Thammarat was the top of the pile barring Guthrie Govan aside but after hearing and watching this I see Nick is much more thoughtful and in depth in not only composition but feel and technical ability. Another thing is that Strat guitar sounded wonderful and beautifully made. I hope they are not too expensive because I really want that guitar; which is never the way I do things when buying but the tone he coaxed from it is highly addictive!! I now want me some such is the inspiration I got from hearing him play Remarkably Human. It looks like a wenge neck with either a 1 piece neck or an ebony fingerboard either way I want to own it..lol.
He's the best guitarist out there right now and it's not just for his playing - his music is amazing. Proper feels. None of that pointless shreddy shite. He's a proper player. Belongs in the 70s.
Why do people look down on shredding so much? That's also a form of playing bro, music doesn't have to have feel all the time! Sometimes it should sound good!
I fucking love his album but I really can't stand the way he plays it live. This is too much, he ruins the beauty of the melody by playing it off the beat and adding tons of unnecessary playing effects (that trem thing is cringey af).
Nice point. I actually love his live playing, but do agree that he does the "16th note behind the beat, with hammer-on grace note" happens a little too often. I'd still take it over almost any other player in the world though :)
@@Kasper911band I think the album version of the first song is absolutely perfect, and while I understand he wants to improvise, I don't like it as much on that one

I’ve seen a lot of Nick Johnston and to me, this video encompasses his most ferocious playing
Ferocious - perfectly said

The more i listen to nick, the more i like his playing. So melodic yet so technical

One of the best guitarists with great licks and amazing tone.
Uma das melhores apresentações do Nick Johnston
And the tone... the tone is to die for.
f'ing amazing. Nick is an awesome guitarist with great feel.

UN MAGO de la viola...sutileza y sonidos unicos
Incredible gt player nick...
What a Great Live. Stunning..
i was left with tears towards the end...
His improvisations are sooo melodic
Loving this.... New guitarist to me, but loving his playing and tone...
Love it.
fantastic
The real guitar hero

I like him more than Guthrie because he seems to write great melodic songs. Guthrie has great technique but I think his song writing can be lacking

Belongs in the 70s? What a load of shit lmao you just lost all credibility
@@yorichixX okay, so you're implying that shredding is the only thing that sounds good. Which is idiotic. You realize how dumb that sounds right?
@@TheGuitarifier read my comment properly bro, don't assume things.
Awesome!
So cool guitarist...

Every single touch are beautiful tone.. the situations are improvisations.. tempo is number 2.. great sustain.. clear tone..

very jazzy his improvisations ehhe, prog metal is very influenced, danm canadians, such remarkably musicians
Sometimes every single words available is just not enough ......

厉害了
Pretty sure a bit in Hypergiant is a modified thing that Ace did in one of his solos, though for the life of me, I can't remember which one.
That lick at 12:14 is sweet.
A new Michael Schenker...
Yes

He looks like cliff burton and joe satriani mushed into one being lol
More like Friedman+Satch !
Me dieron ganas de escuchar opeth jajaja
why cant he just play exactly as in album, which seems so simple yet melodic af
It's more fun to improvise
melody = so so, arpegio = good, vibrato = ? (vibrato bar missing)
I fucking love his album but I really can't stand the way he plays it live. This is too much, he ruins the beauty of the melody by playing it off the beat and adding tons of unnecessary playing effects (that trem thing is cringey af).
Is totally his style
Love Nick,But gonna have to agree with you on this! Definitely overplayed on the first song!

but hypergiant was beautiful with his improv
The album is just unbelievable but his live playing is just tragic to me. It's just my opinion - for me too much impro, too much terrible vibrato.
Rafcyk, I wonder what he’d say about your playing, if he was a dick I mean.
Tragically good
