      Best of luck my friend. The British are awesome rowers and they have German engineering precision behind them in the form of their head coach. He is the secret to their success over the years, British stubbornness, and a refusal to give up plus German engineering excellence which is a formidable combination. The Americans have lots of heart though and the female 8 are very very good so no reason the men's 8 will not be as successful.

    • @captainplague4921
      @captainplague4921 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i disagree with that because the last 100 meters are the most important part of the race (besides your start) because you should be able to bring your rating up at the last 100 and speed past everyone else. During a erg 2k at least if your 2k is a 1:46 you should be able to bring it down to a 1:36 1:37 at least

    • @goody2003
      @goody2003 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Spare Airplane that’s completely wrong, if you can bring your split from a 1:46 down to a 1:37 at the end then you didn’t push as hard as you could for the other 1900 meters and tried to “save” energy

    • @captainplague4921
      @captainplague4921 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ryan Goodwin but what’s the point in saving your self in the last 100 and you have no races left. If you are neck and neck with someone you push harder than you were going before you leave everything on the water there is no point in not pushing your self for that last 100 meters

    • @im_an_oyster
      @im_an_oyster 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    • @reganmc.6640
      @reganmc.6640 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Rikesh Patel He steers down the course and encourages the crew while making split second decisions on how to make the boat faster against its competition. He watches the other boats and calls their distances through the race, almost like their brain. I can tell you as a rower myself it is much harder to think while rowing, even to do basic math. It helps maintain the focus on rowing.

    • @ryandennison352

      that wouldn't be very efficient since more power comes from the stern to middle 4 so one side would be getting more and also be getting pushed to one side. I would like to see that tho.

    • @julietcoalton1144
      @julietcoalton1144 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope! But there is a really nice physics paper on "bucket rigging". So the middle 4 are starb/port/lort/starb or the other way around. Supposedly this gives you nicer properties, but could be a balancing issue since those seats tend to be the heaviest
