Great video that has answered several questions that I've had about bridges, how they are constructed and why there are so many different types of construction that I've seen. Thank you for all this information !
Non engineering background but very much interested in engineering, I first saw Full span Box Girder in Mumbai Ahmedabad HSR, weighed around 900 tonnes. Humungous😢 It amused me, Hollow, heavy itself, yet it can hold Launching Gantry😢 (another 300 tonnes atleast). Load bearings also intrest me. Those little things😅😅 Always thought More surface area for spreading load, more better.
Correct!!!! Box shape is, indeed, good for torsion. The hollow is to cut wight. For simple span (particularly at mid-span), all you need is a compression zone at the top and a tensile zone at the bottom. For multiple spans (seldom the case in long span) compression zone is at the support.
Nice efforts and explanation with Animation is Good.👍 You Can also add about symmetrical shape of box girder bcz of high torsional resistance ( polar moment of inertia).

Thank you, I'm glad you learnt something new :)

Just excellent! Please keep going🎉
Great video i have enjoyed watching it I am looking forward to a new video
Go ahead
Box girder is also excellent in torsional stiffness

Background voice/music need not be added. It deflects the user's understandings.
Great explanation. I'm still waiting for Ethiopian Renaissance Dam video
Trapezoidal shape is 10 percent more economical than rectangular section
