What Makes Asbestos So Hazardous?
มุมมอง 3Kปีที่แล้ว
Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that was once widely used in construction due to its fire-resistant properties. However, it was later discovered that exposure to asbestos fibers can lead to serious health issues. Despite its risks, asbestos can still be found in many older buildings and homes. This video shows how asbestos almost revolutionised the construction industry. If you like t...

Constructing tunnels is one of the most challenging engineering problems because of the many uncertainties whe...

    Worked for a local cruise line for nearly 10 years, and use to watch those massive container ships pass beneath the bridge many times. Quite the sight. Often commented was eventually one of those ships would hit the bridge it would collapse. The lack of dolphins was also a problem.

    Nice video, Young Hero! Is it true that the Burj Khalifa is not connected to a sewerage system, and depends on a fleet of tankers taking away waste under cover of darkness every night? If so, I think you should take away points - if a building is not plumbed into its local environment, it is not really a valid construction. In fact it would just be a burden on its own neighbourhood. If something happened to disrupt those waste tankers, how long before the building becomes uninhabitable?

    There’s no engineering in destroying a bridge, only to construct it. A large ship hit it, and it came down. Structures failed to the obvious. No science on that.

    I doubt man will step foot on Mars, for a long long time anyways. We will colonize the moon first. Once travel to the moon becomes trivial (relatively speaking) we will only then venture further. Once we have space capabilities through practice going to and from the moon we will aim further. A moon of Jupiter will have people on it before Mars (again, in my estimation!) Why go to Mars? We have had probes of all types on and above Mars for a decade plus. There's nothing there! Putting a person there won't tell us much more than we already know. I doubt I'm being as clear as I want and I'm surely passing over finer details but I hope the main gist is here. Once we have space travel technology.. we will aim it at places with more potential than Mars offers, presently. As far as Musk and his Martian colony.. he should setup his idea on Antarctica first. The temperature is close to what can be expected on Mars.. but it has oxygen. Master a tiny place on earth Mr Musk THEN, and only THEN should you talk about Mars. What about your moon visit? I remember one of his fanboys, Tim Dodd, get so excited about "going to the moon" only to later delete his post all together. Tim still admires Musk.. that's the problem. Too much hype from musk.. not enough.. anything else

    Lets compare musks tunnel with mass transport some more. You touched on it concerning the amount of people a rail can move. Musks tunnel uses individual cars.. each car with a driver.. 24 cars, 24 drivers. Rail - maybe 1 or 2 conductors. Plus each car has exponentially more possible issues.. failure points. It boggles the mind how many people listen to Musk and proclaim GENIUS. Breakdown in Musk tunnel and you're in deep doodoo. No escape hatches.. no way to "go around!" If there's a crash.. injuries.. ambulances won't be able to assist.. getting out of the car might be impossible just due to the diameter..

  • @johnmagnotta8401
    @johnmagnotta8401 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Animations. The one thing Musk is good st is selling you on an animation. Everything he proposes looks great.. on paper. Like with these tunnels.. did you see the machine just shoot out some cement that miraculously formed a block.. just like that? The same goes for every & any project he offers. It's weak minded individuals that eat it up. Mars is his best con going. The ease in which musks colonies rise is impressive.. if I was a cartoon I'd happily jump on one of his animated ships. Animations, you've got to be kidding me

  • @johnmagnotta8401
    @johnmagnotta8401 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

    It's amazing that there are people that worship musk.. trump.. some of us have stopped being able to think critically. I've heard Musk called an "innovative" mind. How he's light years ahead of everyone else with his forward thinking. What? I don't get it. It's like people WANT to be swindled! Hyperloop, tunnels, electric cars.. not new ideas. Vacuum tube with cars inside.. 100 yr old idea. Electric cars aren't a new concept and tunnels, really? The only true way to ease traffic is to put more roadways. Tunnels can do that.. but a tunnel alone.. just because it's underground does nothing. Does Musk think if you can't see the traffic it doesn't exist? When he shows the networks of tunnels there's only a few cars.. in actuality the tunnels will get just as congested as tunnels above ground (roads). Do people really bot understand this? Nothing Musk has accomplished has intrigued me.. in ANY way. Save for stealing Tesla from some fine men. Just like always, Musk doesn't come up with an idea, he hijacks it as his own

    I want to know why the bridge was able to be struck by the ship. Such a critical structure continually subject to dangerous traffic should have had more substantial protection from a predictable disaster.

  • @slappyx64
    @slappyx64 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    what they dont show in this animation, is that the ship made a sharp right turn just after it misses the protective pylon that's in the water to protect the main support. The only way it could have hit that support would be to come in at a hard angle around that protective pylon. Its turned right into that main support structure.

    Interesting post! It’s good to be skeptical, but doing the math. However, good traffic is typically about 2,000 vehicles per hour. With an average passenger density of 4 (your estimate), this is 8,000 passengers per hour or 96,000 per tunnel every 12 hours. The Vegas loop already does similar volume to subways during events. You are right there are challenges, but if they can keep lowering the costs to tunnel it will have a very interesting place in the transportation ecosystem.
